(Skipping ahead then...)

Night had fallen and the group had found a suitable site to bed down for the night.  Karen and Lt. PB had stopped bickering long enough to help get a fire going, while the others unrolled sleeping bags.  Sapph had the foresight to pack a small tent, which was set up before the sun had set.  With the sun down, the temperature dropped quickly, and everyone was crowded about the fire.

Quickie stoked the fire and rolled a log over as a cloud of ash and sparks were pushed into the air.  The heat from the flames was intense, and she didn't stay too near it for very long.  Far too hot, and it made her glasses too warm.  She set the stick aside and backed away to where her sleeping bag lay.  She sat down upon it and slapped at an insect.  "That should keep going for a while."

Beside her, Mewtwo crouched.  Quickie had offered to bring him a sleeping bag, but he declined.  He was accustomed to the elements from his years in the wild.  "If we require more wood, I shall go acquire it.  Of all of us, I have the best night vision and can protect myself, should I encounter danger."

You anywhere near Wikia's corporate headquarters, because that's where I'm going.  Well, I'll be staying at the Hyatt Regency near there.

(I'm not usually online during the day, so I miss out on quite a lot quite often.  I have been resorting to checking with my phone, though.  However, Sapph, feel free to add in whatever.  Right now, things have dwindled and I'm suggesting a time skip just to get things moving along.  In RPs, you don't necessarily need to document every single moment of the character's life as they live it.  If nothing happens for a while, nothing happens.  Skip to the action.  Skip to something that will provide plot.  It's better to do that than to just let the story lag and drag along with pointless banter.)

(And unless anyone has anything to add to the rest of their day, we could cut to when they start camping out.)

"Some day... perhaps I should speak of my past, since you all have shared yours," Mewtwo nodded.  "Perhaps tonight.  When things are quiet.  Right now, as we travel, such a time would not be conducive to storytelling."

Ugh.  Your mom's attitude sounds similar to my mom's attitude regarding Mother's Day and her birthday.  She makes such a big deal out of it when she'll forget everyone else's birthday, and then guilt trip you like crazy.  :|

I have no solid advice with dealing with such people, aside from putting as much distance between them and yourself as possible.

"Considering that I'm not a trainer anymore, then I don't get challenged," Quickie shrugged.

Mewtwo paused for a moment to crack his back.  "I... was a trainer... of sorts.  Once.  Long ago."

I gave my mom a call, but she didn't answer her phone, so her Mother's Day message was left on her voicemail.  At the very least, I can claim that I didn't forget! 8D

What made your Mother's Day so bad?

Quickie wondered for a moment just how the crowd reacted before they ran.  Mewtwo was really hard to miss.  He was not only tall, but unique, and he even had a hand in dispersing the crowd.  A brief hand, but a hand nonetheless.  And did that bug catcher say that they were from Viridian City?  Quickie bit her bottom lip.  She had a bad feeling about this.

Quickie nodded.  "Yeah.  Though, never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."

Mewtwo returned to his silent brooding as he followed the group.

Quickie watched him for a moment, then looked away, knowing at least a smidgen of Mewtwo's past.  She kept those thoughts to herself.  "That crowd got out of here pretty quick..."

Mewtwo finally acknowledged Sakura.  "I have, long ago.  Though, I do not wish to discuss it."  He didn't answer Pyro, as he had no idea what a German Suplex even was.

Mewtwo either didn't hear Sakura, or he simply didn't obey, as he remained at the front of the group.  As the crowd dispersed, he gave a shrug.  At the very least, the battle had ended.  He shook his head and returned toward the back of the group, head bowed.  For a moment, he actually wanted to battle.

Quickie didn't have any Pokemon with her, so she looked at Mewtwo.  "Are you sure about this?"

"Yes," Mewtwo nodded.  "At some point, I will have to learn to live as other Pokemon do.  And this would be a learning experience for me."  He moved to the front of the group, ready for battle.  "As senseless as this battle will be, I am ready for it, and ready to end it."

(Moves?  It's Mewtwo.  I'll just go cull up every attack he can learn.)

"ENOUGH!"  Mewtwo's telepathic voice bellowed as he pushed a Psywave through the crowd to force them to part.  "You have no business here, and you will all return to your homes.  NOW."

I wanted to mix up some Tang, but I only had enough for one quart (the bottle is two quarts).  So, I added one quart of blue raspberry lemonade Kool-Ade.  I closed the lid and shook the bottle.

I now have homemade Ecto-Cooler.

Mewtwo watched Wily closely as he loped along.  He had heard the mention of Blaine and he began to scan the man's memories in order to attach a face to the name.  When he identified Blaine, he searched to confirm the man's whereabouts, which seemed to end when he escaped.  A thought struck him, which became spoken words as he looked at his hands. "Did I destroy him? Did I take a life?"  His memories of his violent escape were intact, but whether or not he killed anyone had never occurred to him until now.  Mewtwo was a killer.

Quickie merely shrugged and readjusted her bag.  She reached behind her, worked her arm into the closest back pocket, and fished out her water bottle.  Hyperextensive joints had their advantages.

In the woods, Mewtwo followed in silence, still a few steps behind.  His digitigrade legs gave him a loping gait and the thought of simply flying or even reverting to all fours had crossed his mind more than once.  Flying, while it allowed him to cover considerable distances, did tire him out after a while.  Also, surely there would be someone who would notice.  He was, after all, not hard to miss.

He used to prowl a city at night, and he had remained hidden in plain sight for years, however he had the cover of darkness as his advantage.  This was late afternoon, and the only cover he had at his disposal was the stretch of trees that lined the road.  And he knew that such a terrain would not continue unbroken.  He swallowed and took a deep breath.  He had to go out into the open.

Quickie walked along, once again wrenching her arm behind her back to stow her water bottle.  She glanced up and noticed that Mewtwo, with the most reluctantly-determined look on his face, had sidled up beside her.  His tail lashed as he walked, his glance flicking between each member of the group, and he carried himself slightly stooped, as at his 6'7" height, he was easily a foot taller than Quickie.  Quickie smiled at him.  "You're growing up."

"It's not easy, most certainly," Quickie reminded herself of her past as a troubled outcast.  "One of the reasons why I learned more to connect with Pokemon.  I couldn't do it with people."

"Not in the literal sense, no," Quickie shook her head.  "I'm not saying that every single human on this planet is bad or falls into some sort of evil stereotype.  There are legitimately good people out there.  You just need to know where to look."

Quickie shrugged again. "I meant what I said.  The most genuine people are Pokemon.  Think about it; you have an ear to listen who will not judge you.  You have a loyal companion who is always there for you.  That Pokemon would never betray you, and those feelings are unconditional.  People, however, have a tendency to drop you like a bad habit if you so much as look at them cross-eyed.  People judge based on outward appearance or behavior.  So many times have I seen others be treated like complete outcasts due to one little difference.  If you are different from the 'norm' in some way or another... does your Pokemon notice and treat you differently?  Or do they see what's inside?  The true you?"

"Looks like a Pokemon, talks like a person," Quickie shrugged.  "Doesn't really make much of a difference to me, honestly.  Over the years, I've come to learn that the most genuine people are Pokemon."

Following at a lagging pace, Mewtwo's focus latched onto Quickie's first sentence.  Those words were familiar, though he could not exactly where he had first heard them.  They rang in his head, over and over.  "You look like a Pokemon, but you talk like a person."  Over and over, the voice repeated, slowly changing in pitch to that of a very young girl.

Then, an image.  An image of a little girl, no more than five.  Mewtwo stopped cold as the image flashed into his mind.  That little girl...

Quickie looked over her shoulder.  "Hey.  You all right?"

It took a moment, but Mewtwo recovered and shook his head.  "Fine.  Fine."  He resumed his trek through the woods, casting furtive glances at the road.
