After a while, Quickie returned to her room with an armload of food from the cafeteria.  "Okay, sandwiches and soda for us, soup and crackers for Mewtwo, and sorry it took me so long, I had trouble deciding what to get."  She put the food on a bench and dragged it over to the bunk. 

Mewtwo sat up and motioned toward the food, the covered styrofoam bowl lifting off the bench and moving through the air before Quickie grabbed it.

"No using your powers, either," she handed the bowl and a spoon to Mewtwo. "You need to rebuild your strength and you can't do that if you expend energy on niggly things."  Quickie helped herself to a sandwich, then made her way to an empty chair, turning on the TV while she was at it. "We need some distraction in here."

"--authorities are still looking for the cause of this morning's explosion outside of the Pokemon Center," the program was obviously an in-progress news report. "Several trainers within the vicinity suffered minor injuries from flying debris, and it's assumed that there are many more, though they have yet to come forward.  Police are questioning eyewitnesses in regards to what caused the explosion, and several trainers have stated that it may have been psychic in nature..."

Quickie rolled her eyes. "This has been Plot Convenience News."

Air quality is currently in the "moderate" levels, but last I checked, it's set to change over the course of the week.  

It's not so much the temperature or the haze that gets you.  It's the humidity.  The reason behind the Union victory in Gettysburg was because of our swampy humidity.  The Confederate army couldn't tolerate it.

Domino gave a curt nod.  "If you think you can get close enough to flush it out into the open, by my guest.  Just do not attempt to engage it in combat.  And don't let it get into your head.  Whatever it tells you, ignore it."

Dr. Wily II nodded as he handed the computer over to Quickie. Stealing a peek inside, he asked...

"Mind if I helped with taking care of Mewtwo?"

Quickie nodded and invited him inside.  "Sure.  He's just got a fever, and the main challenge is just getting him to actually rest."  She shrugged.  "I was out cleaning up, and when I came back, he was out of bed, pacing."  She walked over to the small, closet-sized bathroom and dumped the melted contents of the ice pack down the sink, then busied herself with refilling it with crushed ice from the ice bucket.  Walking back to the bunk, she handed the ice pack to Mewtwo.

"Tomorrow, perhaps we can resume the search," Mewtwo settled back into the bunk and swished his tail. "Particularly since the ship had left behind a rather large tunnel.  It should be simple to follow."

"We'll worry about it when we get to it," Quickie nodded. "Right now, though, you need to rebuild your strength."  She gestured to the door. "I'm going to go down to the cafeteria, bring up something to eat.  You want anything?"

Oh, by the way, feel free to throw in more Team Rocket members, canon or otherwise.  Hell, for some fun, perhaps some members are in cahoots with members from other teams?  I'm juggling too many NPCs right now, namely the bulk of Team Rocket, so throw in some more agents to lighten the load, please?

Back at the base, Domino conferred via video feed with several field agents within the Fuchsia City borough limits, including Butch and Cassidy. "Today's explosion has been all over the news, and I know the source of it.  Several witness accounts have described a large, purple, bipedal Pokemon in the epicenter of the blast radius, and I have more accounts that it was hiding out in the Fuchsia City Pokemon Center.  As far as I am aware, it's still there."

She began to pace back and forth as she talked. "This Pokemon, as many of you already know, is one of ours.  It was an experiment gone wrong, and it is extremely dangerous.  Do not, under any circumstances, directly engage this Pokemon!  It has the ability to brainwash humans, and using those abilities, it has acquired a posse of trainers who would willingly protect it.  The link with one trainer, Lexi Shank, is so strong that it can affect her strength.  We have had to use physical force on this woman, and she finally went down with a stun blast that was calibrated for this fugitive Pokemon!  That Pokemon could summon its posse in a heartbeat, and likewise for its slave to summon its master!"

Domino stopped pacing and turned to face the cameras.  "That Pokemon has caused considerable property damage, and it can do it again.  What I want you all to do is to turn the community against that Pokemon.  Make them aware of what caused today's explosion, and where that Pokemon is hiding.  We will force it out into the open, and we can secure the community's help in capturing it!  Once the community is made aware of that ticking time bomb, they will stop at nothing to remove it!"

On the other end, Domino cringed as the speaker erupted in a loud burst of static. "Unh!"  She tried the connection again, still getting bursts of static.  "What in hell is going on over there?!"  Giving up, she handed the radio to another agent.  "Keep working at it until you get him back on line.  I'll try his phone later."

With a grumble, Domino sat back in her chair and checked the news.  No updates on the mysterious explosion outside of the Fuchsia City Pokemon Center, but reports of damage and witness accounts continued to pour in.  The Center itself had received the bulk of the damage, though other buildings in the blast radius reported broken windows, vehicles had been damaged by the shockwave and flying debris, and a number of people reported a tingling sensation and objects floating in the air just before the explosion.

Domino narrowed her eyes.  One of the hallmarks of a massive psychic discharge was the presence of objects floating in the air.  And with how the damage encompassed an area almost the size of a city block, then the discharge was truly something powerful.

And a defining characteristic of Mewtwo's psychic-powered temper tantrums.

Domino leaned her head against her hand.  That damage was definitely Mewtwo's doing.  Fuchsia City has a bomb hiding in their Pokemon Center.

She sneered.  Perhaps she could make use of this and turn the community against the clone.

Again, there was some grumbling on the other end before Domino came back. "Must have been Dr. Wily II.  He was one of the scientists on the team."  There was another pause. "What's the status on Mewtwo?  Did you find its slave?"

"Awwwww," Pyro whined. He was hanging upside down from the curtains, "I'm gonna miss ya."

Quickie looked into the room where Pyro was.  "Nurse Joy's orders."  She shrugged.  "At least until he's gotten a bit more rest."

In the room, laying on the bottom bunk, Mewtwo looked over to Pyro, only for the ice pack to slide off his forehead and hit the floor with a wet slap.  He started to sit up in order to reach it, but decided against it. "It had all but melted." 

"I'll get you another one," Quickie said as she bent to pick the ice pack off the floor, "and get you some water."  She looked to Pyro.  "I'm surprised you missed the explosion out there.  Mewtwo's completely spent, so we're not going anywhere.  At least not tonight."

Kojiro clears his throat nervously, remembering Jessie wanting to infiltrate the Superira, but was too busy spying on Mewtwo to pay attention to her whereabouts.

"She was supposed to have reclaimed the Grand Rhydon...." he mutters, "But judging by the tremor that shook this entire city, I get the feeling someone else had taken control of it and she chased is most likely chasing after it as we speak."

There was some grumbling on the other end before Domino returned. "Fine.  I'll send some field agents to check it out.  Did that have anything to do with the explosion outside of the Pokemon Center?  I tried to get further confirmation on that, but everyone seems pretty confused."

Indeed.  Making a game is difficult work.  Though, this latest fan game sounds like it could use some streamlining in the programming department.  To require so much processing power tells me that there is a lot of needless stuff and roundabout coding going on.

Kojiro cracks the door open, peaking around to see of the pesky Plusle and Minun were still outside before noticing Quickie heading back to her room.  Now certain that no one else was going to bother him, he waits until she heads inside before bounding to the adjacent wall and shuffles back towards the angle he positioned himself in earlier, pulling out his Smartphone and videotaping any progress on Mewtwo's condition and Quickie's change in behavior since his supposed brainwashing.

Inside Kojiro's room, his comm unit crackled.  After a moment, a text message was sent to his smartphone.  It read, "Answer your comlink!"


In her office, Domino drummed her fingers on her desk.  She had not been able to get a hold of Jessie, and even Meowth was incommunicado.  Hopefully James had the sense to not leave his walkie-talkie in the balloon while he conducted his investigation.  Rolling her eyes, she could only imagine what James wanted an advance for.  Granted, going undercover was a common occurrence, but Jessie and James always did so in the most flamboyant ways imaginable.

And I have to go outside, but I don't want to because of HAZE.  Well, heat and humidity.  And my medication makes me particularly sensitive to the heat.
