Roleplay / Re: RPM POKEMON ADVENTURE THING
« on: July 28, 2013, 01:52:50 AM »
During that time, Quickie had resumed her sketching and had since finished a sketch of James.  She wasn't paying close attention to what James was saying, and thus didn't reply.  Instead, she changed the subject, turning to a blank page to draw some more. "I don't treat him like a Pokemon.  I treat him like a person.  The circumstances of one's birth, how one looks, how one's brain is wired, whatever label is attached to them... those are all irrelevant.  What one does with their life determines who they are.  Their past may help define them, how they perceive the world, but their past should not control them.  Their past is not who they are, just as what they look like or what they're called is not who they are."  She glanced up for a moment. "I may have come from a broken home, my view of society may be skewed by my experiences, and how my brain is wired may impact how I see things, but all of those are not who I am.  I am more than a label.  Mewtwo is more than a label.  We all are more than the labels that society attaches to us."  Falling silent again, she returned to her sketching.

"I didn't steal him," Quickie shook her head. "It's a long and really weird story, but I didn't steal him.  The reason why when we first met he didn't run off was because the situation would've been made worse if he did.  Lt. PB didn't mean him any harm, and neither did I, and he understood that.  We simply ran into each other, surely happenstance.  And since it was a rather secluded location, we were the only humans for miles and miles, and leaving us neuralized in the middle of nowhere would've done more harm than good.  Raised more questions."

Quickie paused and picked up her sketchbook, thumbing through it for a blank page.  She helped herself to a pencil and began to sketch as she talked, every now and then glancing at James and studying his face. "It was really late in the evening and PB and I were setting up camp.  We had some food, and as a gesture of goodwill, I offered the Pokemon a meal.  After all, we did invade their territory, and thus, it was best that we pay our dues."

Selecting another pencil, Quickie continued. "We had a chance to talk over dinner.  Exchanged our histories.  Years ago, before I started my Pokemon journey, I came from a broken home.  I actually ran away when I started my journey.  The journey was a ruse, I wanted to escape.  I was born unnaturally, and due to birth injuries, I was strapped with a developmental disorder that no one could pinpoint.  I was taken from specialist to specialist, went clear to Cinnabar for a diagnosis.  While there, I wandered away, found my way to the Pokemon Mansion and went inside.  This was before it was destroyed, it was a multipurpose building, used by several companies."

Quickie glanced at James as she continued to sketch. "I wandered around and eventually ended up in the part of the wing outsourced for scientific research.  No idea why no one stopped me, but there were other kids there, kids of the employees, so I guess they thought I was one of them.  I had long hair then, no glasses, and people kept referring to me as 'Amber.'"  She paused before continuing. "I walked into a part of the lab, directed by another scientist, saying that my dad was there.  I thought they actually meant my dad, so I went inside.  There, I saw the cloning tanks, and in one of them was Mewtwo.  He was really small, then."  She paused and thumbed through her sketchbook to a specific page, showing a sketch of a very young Mewtwo floating in a tank. "Drawn from memory, might not be exact, but it's what I remember."

After a moment, Quickie set the sketchbook page-upon the table and put her pencil aside. "Eventually, they realized that I wasn't one of their children and they took me to the Cinnabar police station, who then called my parents.  I was collected and taken home right away.  Then, my mom beat my ass.  After that, I knew that I had to escape.  They couldn't handle me.  I wasn't the child they wanted, I was flawed, I wasn't born right.  Four years later, I ran away.  The police never followed up on it.  Said I went on a Pokemon journey."

She looked to James. "Hope that someone's recording, because you got part of the history you wanted."

Right-o.

When I get Domino/Harley and Joe there, Joe may end up being primarily zombie-moved for the sake of just keeping him in the same room.  Oh, and feel free to snatch up an Officer Jenny for the interrogation.  I hate talking to myself. :P

"They're saying I stole Mewtwo, and I might be getting charged for not keeping him in a Poke Ball," Quickie nodded to all of her stuff strewn across the table, noting that the officer had taken not only the discs, but Mewtwo's computer. "They're going to question Mewtwo at some point, not sure when, and I guess they'll question me, and we'll see what happens." She shrugged looking to James, studying his face and then finally reading his name tag, which said simply "Flanagan."

The receptionist studied the IDs, then stood. "Hold on a moment, I'll need to speak with my supervisor..." she walked into another office for a few moments to converse with the desk sergeant, then returned. "Okay, we can take you back and you can speak with the trainer, but you can't see the Pokemon, yet.  Safety precaution."  She instructed Sakura and N to empty their pockets and surrender any bags to security for screening, then step through the metal detector, and finally enter the station proper.

The receptionist greeted Sakura as she entered. "Good evening, how may I help you?"  Around her, officers were milling about, discussing the day and receiving orders.  Others were eating their lunches while standing, and another was fielding calls.  Most of them, however, were discussing their latest arrests.

"Yeah, it's locked up in the Quiet Room.  Only place we could put it, really.  Drunk tank's full, ain't putting it with other inmates..."

"It's trainer's just barely cooperative..."

"Got some people from the Pokemon Institute on the way over..."

"Heard that it actually made those clones in town!"

"Oh, really?"

"Yeah, really!"

"No way!"

In the police station, an officer entered the interrogation room, carrying Quickie's backpack.  He sat the backpack on the table and unzipped it, looking at Quickie. "Let's see what you have in here.  Had the bomb squad check it already, it's safe."

Quickie swallowed, remembering how she threw it right in front of the cops.  Yeah, good idea there.

The cop slowly took each item out and placed it on the table.  A tube of Poke Balls, a sketch book, change of clothes, which were searched and unfolded.  A case of art supplies, which the cop rummaged through and set certain items aside, such as an X-Acto knife.  "Can't keep this."

Quickie shrank in her seat.

The cop continued to search the bag, pulling out more items, including Mewtwo's computer, which was set on the table before Quickie. "What's this?"

Quickie gave the ridged techno-organic tablet a once-over. "Mewtwo's computer."

The cop picked it up, turned it over in his hands, and examined the edges. "How do you open it?"

"You'd have to ask Mewtwo," Quickie shrugged, "it's his computer."

Snorting in response, the officer ste the tablet aside and dug out several discs, which he handed to another officer. "Have Archie look at these."  The other cop nodded, took the discs, and left the room.  Resuming the search, the officer pulled out more items, including an inhaler, a vial of medication, and an oral syringe.  "And these?"

"Inhaler's mine, meds were prescribed for Mewtwo, as he was sick last week," Quickie nodded. "Nurse Joy said it was something to calm him down and help him rest."

The officer nodded and picked up the oral syringe and vial, turning and shouting out of the room. "Hey!  Give these to Lee and Kirby!  They can dose up that Pokemon, make it easier to handle."  Another officer took the items and the commander resumed his earch of Quickie's bag, pulling out a Master Ball, which he placed on the table with a clunk. "And would you lik to tell me why your Pokemon was not in this ball?  Or, do you have something even worse in here?"

"It's empty," Quickie looked to the table. "Mewtwo was never in a Poke Ball.  Nurse Joy gave that to me, just in case."

"Just in case what?"

"Just in case Mewtwo was out of control."

"Then why haven't you used it?!" The officer snapped. "That Pokemon is dangerous, and we had orders to open fire on it, should it get out of hand!"

"You wouldn't let me anywhere near him so that I could talk him down!" Quickie countered. "I would've had the situation well under control if you let me through the barricade!  That's why I did what I did!  I had no choice, no other option, but to throw my bag into the fray and hope for the best, because you grabbed me before I could do anything else!"

"We grabbed you to keep you from getting hurt!"

"Then, how the hell did you expect me to do anything about the situation if you wouldn't let me do anything!  Do you see the problem here?!"

"Ms Shank," the officer lowered his voice, "you need to settle down.  You're in a lot of trouble, here.  Your Pokemon is in a lot of trouble.  For one, your Pokemon is stolen, and I highly doubt that you actively participated in its theft, but you received stolen property.  You also refused to keep a dangerous Pokemon properly restrained in a Poke Ball.  You allowed it to run rampant, and before then, you and your Pokemon were working in the food industry, handling food meant for human consumption.  Your Pokemon was the source of the incidents in Stone Town, Fuchsia City, and now here.  And never once did you attempt to restrain it.  Do you understand why this is an issue?"

Quickie's eyes were cast down, and she nodded slowly. "He's not like any other Pokemon, though..."

"It doesn't matter!" the officer snapped. "Mewtwo is a Pokemon!  It doesn't have the same rights as humans, and you need to treat it like a Pokemon!  That means keeping it restrained!  You, of all people, should know how dangerous it is, as you've kept it for so long!"

Quickie's gaze remained on the table and she said nothing.

"We're bringing some people over from the Pokemon Institute to look at Mewtwo and get its side of the story," the officer stepped back from the table, "we have reports saying that those other Pokemon involved were clones that it made, and I for one would like to know how."  With that, he left the room, leaving Quickie alone with James.

Back in the holding cell, Mewtwo backed away from the door as it was unlocked and opened, two wardens stepping in, followed by two officers in riot gear.  One of the wardens, a bespectacled middle-aged man, held up his hands, palms outward. "Easy there, fella.  We're not going to hurt you.  We're just going to take the cuffs off you, okay?  Will you let us do that?"

After a moment, Mewtwo nodded and remained still as the cuffs were removed.  He took the opportunity to stretch his shoulders and rub his wrists, then looked to the wardens. "What do you want from me?"

The warden was caught by surprise and actually stepped backwards. "Heh, they told me that you could talk, but I really wasn't expecting that..."

The other warden, an older gentleman with a goatee, spoke up. "The police just want to talk to you, and make sure that you won't hurt anyone or yourself.  We heard that you've caused a lot of trouble lately."

"The police are bringing in some people from the Pokemon Institute, as they're better-equipped to handle these things," the other warden nodded. "We're just here to help handle you better.  You're very powerful, so we just want to make sure that no one gets hurt, okay?"

The second warden looked over his shoulder. "Could someone bring it some water?"  After a few minutes, another officer reached between the two guards, handing a cup of water to the warden, who carefully edged closer and placed it on the floor in front of Mewtwo. "There you go.  You sit tight, and we'll check on you again in a bit."

Mewtwo waited until he was alone again before helping himself to a drink.  He almost asked about the welfare of his clones, but decided against it.  They were in enough danger as it is, he didn't need to compound the problem by revealing their origins.  Grabbing the cup of water, he retreated to the corner and curled up.

(And I'm off to bed.)

"It does and it does not," Quickie shrugged.  "I mean, to think that this all started when Lt. PB found and chased down that cloned Pikachu, and then I chased after him because I thought he was going after someone else's Pokemon, and then we literally ran smack into Mewtwo, and then PB practically ripped my sketchbook from my hands to show to him, and--oh man, it's so convoluted that I can't even get it straight anymore.  And it happened years ago, so I might be remembering it wrong." She rubbed the back of her head and took another drink of water, then leaned back in her chair, tilting it on its back legs. "I look back on it now, and I still wonder why.  He said I reminded him of someone.  Not sure who, as he doesn't remember clearly."

In the holding cell, Mewtwo finally emerged from the corner and made his way to the door to study it.  It could only be opened from the outside, as the inside lacked any handle or knob.  Crouching awkwardly beside the door, as his arms were still bound behind him, he pressed his ear against it, straining to hear anything in the station that might clue him into what they had planned.

(Fastforwarding because no way can Joe be this fast irl. :P)

It wasn't long before Joe reached the Pokemon Institute. Just like its namesake, the exterior looked just like any other research facility, except with a large billboard saying "Pokemon Institute". Looking around he seemed to notice someone near the entrance. Approaching cautiously, Joe asked...

"... Harley?"

Harley--or rather Domino with pigtails, light blue contacts, and a careful smattering of freckles across her nose--nodded, walking up to him. "That's me!"  Her Queens accent was sharp and thick.  "Took ya awhile ta get here.  Y'see, I'm a busy gal, and with what's been happening on Route 11, they're gonna need someone with my expertise!"  She leaned in close and dropped her voice to a whisper. "Heard we got us a litter of clones, Mistah J."  Winking, she motioned for him to follow her.

"Why don't you come with me to Hoenn?" Pyro asked there was a comforting tone of optimism in his voice, "We can have fun like the last time! Everything will be okay."

Hearing the door open, Quickie motioned for Pyro to get out of sight.  "We'll talk later.  I don't want you getting into trouble, too."

James salutes, keeping his other arm far behind his back to hide the card still plastered against his spine, "Roger that!"

He then turns and marches away from the group.

There's no way you're going to be able to keep fooling these cops for long, Danny seethed, You may have won your way into the squad.  But it's going to take more than that to keep up your sneaky little farce!

"You think so...?" James whispers low enough for only Danny to hear, "I'll have you know that Jessie and I were once imprisoned here during one of our many thieving escapades.  We've dug our way around here so many times, we've practically become familiar with the whereabouts of everything that keeps these prisoners alive and sane...."

As if to add more proof to his accusation, he effortlessly locates the prison cafeteria and marches over to the counter, "Two glasses of water.  A thirsty guard is a dopey observer."

The person behind the counter, looking eerily like a human Granbull, hauls out a tray with two clear glasses of water.  James gingerly takes the tray in one hand and marches back towards the prison where Quickie stood, keeping himself facing squarely towards her while handing her one of the glasses.

"For you, madam," he said happily.

Quickie took the water with a nod. "Thanks."  She took a drink, then sighed.  "These last couple weeks have been hell...  I mean, I know that once we get the chance, we'll have to leave town.  I know that.  We'll need to relocate anyway.  Not sure where, perhaps Hoenn..." she trailed off, taking another drink. "We shouldn't have left Saffron..."

Quickie looked up and saw Pyro in the mirror.  "Yeah, it's me.  Things went to crap here real fast.  That whole thing in Fuchsia got Mewtwo in trouble, and it only escalated when Carr took Mewtwo's form in Vermilion, and even gathered up all of his clones on some stupid crusade, so Mewtwo went off to stop him, and we went along, and now we're in trouble.  At least, it seems like it."  She folded her arms on the table.  "I swear, when we get the chance, we're moving out of Kanto.  To where, I don't know."

The ride to the police station was uneventful punctuated only by radio communication.  Quickie knew that Mewtwo had arrived ahead of her and was already locked up in holding, whereas she was to be taken to interrogation.  Quickie shrugged, thankful that she wasn't cuffed.

Belker stopped the car and got out, opening the back door and letting Quickie out.  "Alright, let's go."

Quickie looked from Belker, to James, then back to Belker and finally followed him inside. "How soon can I see Mewtwo?"

"Not until we have someone take a look at it," Belker shook his head. "It has a lot of explaining to do, and we don't want you influencing its answers."  He led Quickie down a hall and into a room.  "Better get comfortable, you're going to be here a while."

Quickie nodded and went into the room and sat.  "I don't suppose I could trouble you for a drink of water?"

"Naw, we'll get you a drink," Belker looked to James. "Get her a drink and babysit her for a while."

In the back of the other police car, Mewtwo shifted around, trying to make room for himself.  There wasn't much leg room, and his tail was bent at an awkward angle, and having his arms restrained behind his back and attached to the seat belt was not helping matters.  Overall, it was a rather cramped and miserable ride, and the car was clearly not designed for beings of a taller stature, human or otherwise.  He snorted and looked out the window at the passing scenery.

The driver, an officer named Kearney, had not said a word to him throughout the trip, and neither had his partner, whose name Mewtwo did not catch.  The two officers, however, maintained an almost constant radio contact with the station, trying to determine exactly where they would be taking him when they got there.  It wasn't as if Pokemon were regularly arrested, so this was clearly lacking in any well-defined protocol.  From what he heard over the garbled radio static, they were calling in wardens from Fuchsia, and then proceeding from there.

Mewtwo shifted again, trying to stretch his cramping legs, only to kick the back of the seat in front of him.  Kearney didn't even look at him as he grunted out a command to "quitcher kicking."  Finally managing to twist his body around enough to give his tail some room, Mewtwo let out a snort and glanced out the rear windshield.  He was forced to leave his clones behind, unprotected, and without any valid explanation as to what had transpired.  He was told that they were safe, and that the others would deal with them, but he wanted to make sure of that himself.  They deserved an explanation.  They deserved an apology.

In the driver's seat, Kearney got on the radio again. "We're pulling in, where you want us to take it, over."

"Back entrance, take it directly to holding," the station manager's voice crackled over. "The wardens are here, ready to wrangle it.  We've cleared out the Quiet Room, so we can hold it in there.  Don't want it around any other inmates, and we can't transfer anyone to County lockup right away."

"Gotcha, over and out," Kearney put down the receiver and pulled around to the back, stopping the car and finally looking back and addressing Mewtwo. "Don't move.  You stay there until we tell you to move.  You've caused a lot of trouble, so don't make it any worse.  Capische?"

Mewtwo nodded slowly, remaining silent, his focus still on the clones that he left behind.

After a moment, two wardens came out and Kearney got out of the car and opened the back door, motioning for Mewtwo to move forward. "Let's go."

Doing as he was told, Mewtwo slid across the back seat and waited until his cuffs were released from the seat belt, then stood.  He was immediately flanked by the wardens, who led him inside.  The walk to the holding cell was short, and he was met with cautious stares, until he was shoved into a small, bare room, and the door was shut and locked.  Retreating to a corner, Mewtwo crouched down in it, silent and thinking about how he got into this mess.

"Roger! Over and out!" Joe removed his comlink, and began to skate again, trying his best to avoid the bunch of meddling twerps. Next stop, the Pokemon Institute... And Harley.

(OK, I have to head out... Please zombie Joe if needed. Dr. Wily II can stay in place. XD Also... It's not that Cacturne Harley right? XD)

"You could get to the Pokemon Institute campus on Buford and we'll rendezvous there," Domino reiterated. "Right now, we can't do anything without blowing our cover.  Let the cops take Mewtwo in.  The thing is, though, they'll need some way to handle it.  I have connections that can get me in the door, but I can work on getting you in, too.  We rendezvous first, then we'll make our move."  She paused as she slowed her car at a stoplight. "Fuchsia is the closest place right now, so they'll no doubt call in game wardens for the time being.  But, since Mewtwo is, shall we say, a 'special case,' they'll need more muscle, and that's where the Pokemon Institute comes in."  She glanced in her rear view mirror, then continued driving.  "Look, I can't talk long.  Just get to the Pokemon Institute, and ask for 'Harley.'  I'll be there shortly and we'll proceed from there."

The driver nodded and got the vehicle underway. "Needed to check with the captain, first, make sure I wasn't needed out here."  Whistling as the car hit debris in the road, he headed for the station, dodging emergency crews and roadblocks.  Picking up the radio, he contacted the station. "This is Belker, I'm on my way in, over."

"Confirmed," the station manager's voice crackled over the radio. "We called in wardens from Pal Park to help us deal with the Pokemon that Kearney is bringing in.  When you get in, take its trainer to interrogation."

"Will do, over," Belker put the receiver down and focused on his driving, rounding a turn and heading for the municipal building.

Quickie fidgeted in the back seat, just wanting to get this whole thing over with.

Joe had finally reached Route 11... Only to see that the whole fiasco was over, with Mewtwo being led away in cuffs. With mouth agape, he hid behind one of the larger trees in the Route, and peeked out to see another fiasco between a Yamask and a miniature black Dragon. Feeling the need to update Domino, Joe pulled out his repaired comlink.

"Madam! Come in! It seems that the situation has changed drastically! Mewtwo has been apprehended!!"

Domino answered the comlink. "I've been following it on the police scanner, I know."  She, however, was no longer at the base, but working with her underground connections to gain access to the police station. "I'm on my way to Vermilion right now.  We'll rendezvous at the Pokemon Institute campus on Buford.  I doubt they'll be letting Mewtwo go tonight.  They'll follow procedure and keep it locked in holding until they decide what to do with it.  Gives us plenty of time."
