I agree with not reusing Koholint/Termina/etc though, a sequel in the same location could at best keep the spirit and at worst completely ruin it.

I've gotten pretty far through, and have to say I'm rather enjoying myself, it's very fun if you can stop thinking "I wish I was playing Okami instead". It's a little less in every dimension, but amazing for a handheld game.
Definitely worth buying if you can bury your expectations.

Needs more surrealism. (trade chain involving a bag of poo?!?!)
Skyward Sword could still do that though...

Muramasa was awesome, but I'm not sure I'm as interested in a RPG from them.
And, I don't have a PSP...

X5? Why would Sigma be dead after X4 if he could survive his previous deaths?
If any game should have ended the story it would've been X3 and its antivirus, or X5 when he's dispersed all over the planet. Maybe X6 since he's practically dead already when you do him in.

They're never going to make a game depicting the end, but I guess we could theorize what would have to canonically happen to set things up for X.

Don't think this was posted yet, correct if wrong.

Never thought egoraptor could make something so... constructive.

He makes some really good points, like the enemy placement intentionally stopping you from plowing through - I always thought this was cruel, but it's actually genius. Also [tornado fang] grinding.

Link to his blog is in the comments. Guy mentioned finishing the final areas a number of weeks ago, and more recently that he couldn't get the feel of the final battle right, so that's kind of promising I guess.

Reviews pretty much say:

You go to the same places, get the same powers, and do the same stuff, essencially.
That's a little discouraging. I was hoping it was just the early parts of the game...

Still, it's not a bad game, since it's still Okami, better than many out there. I'm interested in how the "improve village" thing is going to work out, reminds me of the Breath of Fire games.

Looks promising so far. Graphics are pretty suck, but it's the DS so what'd ya expect... I'll deal.
"Wait, if Ammy's your mom, then who did she...?"
"Gruh?"
"Not that it's any of my business! Anyway!"

---

Well, I haven't gotten very far, but it's basically Okami lite, to nobody's surprise. Yet I feel a little disenchanted. It seems a bit easier, a bit simplified, a bit less polished (some dialogue typos and such)...
But the original was very different towards the end compared to the beginning, so I'm not passing any judgement just yet.

« on: March 19, 2011, 11:23:10 PM »
I always wondered how you could NOT screen watch.
Many vague memories of fun with goldeneye and perfect dark, and some mk64.
Proximity mines only, lights out + paintball mode, sitting in that one spot on the goldeneye level in PD with the Far Sight and being an ass...

Slightly marred by the fact that I would punch my friend in the shoulder whenever he owned me. He moved away when I was still young, and the last time we played together he owned me and I yelled "oh come on" or something, and he half-flinched reflexively (while grinning like a troll at me, but still)...

It looks pretty entertaining. Didn't see the originals when they aired (did see them on youtube more recently), but this seems to be on the same level while also adding new stuff to keep our attention.
