Well, that saves a lot of trouble.

Too bad though, sounds like a good challenge. :|

Yeah, I didn't know I was missing a level until I decided to open the Star Coins menu for no reason. And I had to visit the Peach Castle to see if any hint movies mentioned a secret goal in W8, then voilá, back to the target level to search for the alternate exit. Finding it wasn't that difficult, the two red bridges screamed OH HEY WE ARE ABNORMAL.

I beat the game. Final battle was incredible, so different from normal Mario final battles.

I have all Star Coins except in World 9, which I haven't visited yet. Tomorrow.

Almost done with New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Sorry if this has been mentioned here, but people at GameFAQs have apparently found all the rewards:

Quote
* Platinum Sparkling Stars (on your file): Clear the game 100% without recording any deaths.
* Gold Sparkling Stars: Clear the game without activating and/or using the Super Guide by dying 8 consecutive times in any level.

(Note that these effects can disappear upon violating these conditions, even if they were satisfied upon initially clearing the game.)

With or without these special effects, players can earn up to five stars by satisfying the below conditions in no particular order:

* Clear the game's main quest (defeat Bowser in World 8)
* Collect all 207 Star Coins in Worlds 1~8.
* Clear all levels (including those in World 9) with all secret exits where applicable.
* Collect all 231 Star Coins in Worlds 1~9.
* Clear/visit every dot on every world map (all red dots should turn blue): this includes cannons and mushroom houses.

So, in short, on my first file I'm not even getting the gold sparkly thing. :P

In order of sex:

- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Bayonetta
- Metroid: Other M
- Dead Space 2
- No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
- BioShock 2

I wouldn't count on Zelda Wii in 2010, but if that happens... ^$^

Must... resist...

Just pointing out that you can move with a charged beam on the ground, via dash-jumps, if I recall as long as you start charging in the air after performing a dash-jump.

I kinda like this one, but I'm more of a melee freak with the Ride Armors. X2's is still my favorite.

I hear there's a little reward for 100%'ing the game without even seeing a Super Guide block. Apparently the stars in your save file will sparkle.

I'm already screwed, saw it twice, but you can still save yourself. :|

EDIT: No double post button?

World 3 was amazing. The ghost house, the red switch, the fortress with the rotating blocks, the castle, the whole thing. Wow.

I have all Star Coins so far, plus World 5 and 6 open via secret exits, but I'm gonna play through normally.

This game is great. :D

I got the game, played all of World 1 and some of World 2.

I'm loving it so far. It's more NSMB, basically, which is enough for me.

The overworld inventory is by far my favorite addition. Solves my biggest issue with NSMB, because sometimes for a secret you'd have to use a power-up that wasn't even available there, and you'd risk getting hit and being forced to seek those red ? blocks on the map.

Also, Tiny Mario is so adorable. >w<

My Nunchuk keeps disconnecting, bad contact. This goddamn sucks. I don't know if it's the Wiimote or the Nunchuk, but this just sucks. I was trying to play MadWorld, impossible with the warning popping up every two seconds.

I'm playing Mega Man & Bass as Mega Man, at Wily's fortress now. This game is so not meant to be played as Mega Man. You need Ice Wall for everything! X(

I actually lost my last life against capsule Wily when he had only 2px left. Classic!

Soundtrack is neat. I've probably lost a few impact points by listening before actually experiencing the battles and events, but I couldn't resist.

I actually did listen to the whole 5 hours of music... that's a crapload of women yelling ohhhh and ahhhh.

Original / Re: Youtube Debate MM2 or MM3 (Timeline Updated)
« on: November 08, 2009, 02:15:08 PM »
You don't take damage from using Top Spin as long as you use it against enemies that are actually weak to it (there are 19, all OHKOs). Sadly this is not the case with the Robot Masters.

Honestly, the rushed pieces that people complain about MM3 only make the game more appealing to me. The overpowered Rush Jet, fuel conservation, being able to "choose" Rush Marine and Jet before intended, P2 commands. It's the equivalent of sequence-breaking in most Metroid games, in that it's technically a fault in the game, but one that makes it deeper and more enjoyable.

Oh, I meant that for the Wii game. The inventory is huge.

On the DS it really sucks to find the power-ups.

You can also view all sorts of statistics, like how much time gamers spend on each game average (for Super Smash Bros. Brawl it's 86 hours), if that title appeals more so to casuals or hardcore, percentage of male/female gamers who play each game.

It's really awesome. :D

Gaming / Nintendo Channel records?
« on: November 07, 2009, 01:57:35 PM »
So I downloaded the Nintendo Channel on the Wii now that it's free (if you paid the $5 before, you can now get an NES game for free).

It's pretty sweet, there are videos and stuff. But my favorite thing is that they take all your saves and gameplay data and inform you how much time you spent playing each game.

Do you guys have the Nintendo Channel? Post your records, it should be interesting!

Here are mine, top 10:

1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl: 180 hours 55 min
2. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: 154 hours 22 min
3. Super Mario Galaxy: 141 hours 31 min
4. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: 109 hours 15 min
5. Mega Man 9: 91 hours 2 min
6. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (VC): 84 hours 1 min
7. Mario Kart Wii: 47 hours 58 min
8. MadWorld: 41 hours
9. No More Heroes: 34 hours 19 min
10. World of Goo: 33 hours

Twilight Princess and Galaxy aren't entirely true for me because my brother played them as well. My playtime was 40-50 hours less on each. Also, 41 hours on MadWorld? That's insane, the game clock is stupidly misleading then. But in all it sounds about right.

You actually don't even need that many to appear because you can store them in an inventory just like SMB3. As you advance and grab minis, hold on to 'em until you really need 'em. ;)

I would kill for this feature in Galaxy.

Gaming / Re: What's your most favourite underrated game(s)?
« on: November 05, 2009, 12:11:59 AM »
I consider the general impression of public and critics. I can't label underrated a 90 Metacritic game that sold 8 million copies, a game that when I ask people about they go crazy in excitement. The game is loved and successful, it's not underrated.

God Hand received countless mediocre reviews when it was released (including 3.0/10 from IGN) and received horrible word of mouth publicity because of sloppy presentation and insane difficulty. Except it's a very very niche game that does the hardcore brawler thing like no other. This game would never sell 10 million copies because most people don't bother procuring beyond what they hear. And what they hear is that this game is too hard and looks like crap. So it's definitely underrated.

Now, a game like Okami can't be considered underrated, because it got raved by every single person who's played or reviewed it... the 12 of 'em anyway. People only have positive things to say about it. This game had everything to sell zillions of copies. It's just overlooked, like Eternal Darkness.

Of course it's mostly opinion anyway, if you dislike Eternal Darkness you probably consider it overrated... but I try to look at the game for what it is. I can't bring myself to play Guitar Hero for instance, but they're well made games. I can't say they're overrated just because they're not my type.

Just my view on the thing anyway. :)
