Gaming / Re: Gundam Vs Gundam Help
« on: July 03, 2009, 12:17:45 PM »
The issue with the labeling of the buttons is because said FAQ was written based on the controls for the arcade version of the game.

Controls:
---------

By default, the control scheme is the following:

Square:    Main Weapon
Triangle:  Melee
X:         Jump
Circle:    Search
L:         CPU Command
R:         Subweapon
Select:    Mobile Assist

Any questions?

Awesome new OP song is awesome.
Shitty OP animation is shitty.

Seriously, who would outsource the opening animation to Korea?

My good friend. Tell me where I can aquire HQ version of this episode. Because I don't feel like watching it in [parasitic bomb] quality that I am currently finding. : <

Please?

The Shinsen-Raw usually comes up 3-4 days after the episode's initial broadcast. Have patience.

So, on G Gundam. Sub or Dub? Now, it really wouldn't matter to me normally, as I'm not subfag and I don't care, but I've heard some of the dub for G Gundam and I'm not so sure.

Mark Gatha as Domon is fine and all, but I'd take the Japanese version any day. It's [tornado fang]ing Seki Tomokazu for crying out loud, and this is the role that made him famous.

Actually, I liked these two episodes a lot because it's an interesting plot. I'm eager to learn how Kyon's gonna break the inifinite loop.

Oh, and for whatever strage reason, I really liked all those pseudo-homoerotic approaches of Koizumi, he's just that fabulous.

Actually, physically he was.  He passed every physical test given to him to be sure he could perform for his concerts.

Yet, you're hearing all this stuff concerning his addiction to painkillers, morphine etc. at the moment. I personally heavily doubt that he was in the condition to do a concert. It would have been even more painful to watch than Britney Spears' "comeback" on the MTV awards a year or two ago.

In a way, he died long ago, just stopped breathing now.

This.

I mean, seriously, nobody can have believed that he was actually in the condition, both physically and mentally, to perform in a concert. He had already lost his sense of reality back then, wanting to go back to his glory days without realizing that he never could.

Real Robot is the genre that Gundam pretty much invented. The robot is military hardware and is used as a combat unit in the regular army. It usually is appearing much more realistic, gets damaged and all that kind of stuff.

Super Robot is the genre that was more or less there when Robots first came around. Giant Robots to fight off alien invaders and that stuff, ridiculously powerful, usually powered by sheer willpower of it's pilot and attack names being yelled. Also often features a team of pilots and they then form their robot from their individual vehicles.

Examples Real Robot: Mobile Suit Gundam (though the original still had some Super Robot tropes), Patlabor, CODE GEASS, VOTOMS, Macross
Examples Super Robot: Mazinger Z, Gurren Lagann, G Gundam, Voltron, GaoGaiGar

I cant wait till that next Sound duel. When was it coming out again?

It has vanished from CD Japan and the likes. It got indefinitely delayed, but most sources say it was pushed back to Fall.

also, Jack is the bastard child of Rudger and Kaiba. His hairdo looks just like young Rdger's, except without the long part, and his attitude, is totally Kaiba.

Watch that episode again, Jack is completely different from Kaiba in terms of personality. Yes, he is more distant to other people, but he differs greatly from Kaiba. That is, in the Japanese version at least. In the English Dub, he's just an arrogant [dark hold] >_>

I never played any of the SRW games, but isn't it one of the requirements for the mecha to be in these games to be spaceworthy? Almost all footage I saw from the various games are portraiting fights in space, and none of the CG mechs can go there. Heck, I wished all of them had stayed on the ground and stuck to Land Spinners instead of getting Float Systems, except for perhaps a handful of named characters.

It can be more complex, yes.

Well, in that case I'd recommend the stuff I liked. CODE GEASS - Lelouch of the Rebellion, although it's more character and plot driven than full of skull-splitting mecha. Pretty much all the alternate Gundam universes (i.e. everything but Universal Century) are easy to get in since they are only one series save for Cosmic Era and independent from Mobile Suit Gundam, Vision of Escaflowne is pretty awesome if you have no problem with the character designs and the often overlooked animations for the Zone of the Enders games, 2167 IDOLO and Dolores, i are good as well.

Oh yeah, and obviously, Macross - Do You Remember Love?.

All of the above mentioned is Real Robot however (G Gundam on the other hand, is Super Robot cosplaying Real Robot, and the Zone of the Enders animes border inbetween).

I recommend it!

WHAT THE [tornado fang]!? Giant Robots from AMERICA?! How in the world is this supposed to work!?

---

*ahem*

So, you're looking for easily digestible mecha. G Gundam and Gurren Lagann have already been mentioned (though I wouldn't say they are easily digestible, they have good characters, well, G Gundam at least for that matter). The question is, do you just want giant robots beating each other up or can it be something more complex?

Just as I thought, they all got revived save for Godwin, Rudger and Demak. And Carly appears to not remember much from what happened between her and Jack during that duel >__>

Finished K-ON!. It was an OK show. Too much random stuff of the bad category, too much moe stuff, not enough plot and one of the stupidest main characters I have ever laid eyes on, Osaka from Azumanga Daioh is Einstein compared to Yui. If there was a second season of this, I'd probably watch it, but there's no way I would ever pay money for this show.

EDIT:

Watched Aim For The Top! Gunbuster in one sitting. I can see what stuff Gurren Lagann borrowed from it. While I can see that this must have been pretty inspiring, to me, it wasn't remotely as awesome as GL, or G Gundam for that matter.

The order of the numbers being added doesn't change the results of the addition.

There IS a difference.

If you have porn with plot, you have bullshit like Word's Worth and all that, some background plot being present but you're watching/reading/playing it for the sex scenes. What TYPE-MOON is doing is that there is a plot which is the focus of everything, and there just happens to be some sex, which in turn IS tied to the plot.

Excuse me, Takashi Takeuchi and Kinoko Nasu would like to have a word with you.

TYPE-MOON isn't porn with plot. It's plot with porn.

Yeah, and I was really pissed when they didn't dubbed it. Even though, it's a children show. I think that's the reason why that they didn't dub it in the NA is because it got into a teen-rated style, and that's why they stop dubbing it.

Interesting. Over here in Germany, we got the whole thing, all seasons dubbed on television, and I don't recall any censorship either. Though I believe they did not bring over all the specials and stuff. I recall there was some recap episode with Bunny and Chibiusa discussing past events, that one did not get over here.

Not to mention that in our version all characters still had their Japanese names and Haruka and Michiru weren't cousins >_>

Wait, quick question...do reploids eat human food too? They just don't eat Crystals but they can eat food too? Just wondering. :/

No evidence whatsoever. They are still machines. While by the time of ZX humans and Repliroids are considered equal, there's no mentioning whether or not Repliroids can consume and digest regular food. From what I recall, the only part about "equality" considering Repliroids is that they have finite lifespans like human beings. Then again, ZX has interracial couples with kids, so who knows. Anything's possible with SCIENCE.

No anime can escape from QUALITY

Except Macross: Do You Remember Love?. Most gorgeous thing EVER, and it was produced back in 1984.

I second that motion. If you do not mind that relatively okay animation of the anime, then I say go for it.

The anime had some really stunning animation in the first few episodes with lots of awesome shading and light effects, but that pretty much only lasted for the introduction arc and declined over time, until we got that awful Caster arc with hiddeous animation quality. The last arc looked somewhat better, but it never regained the quality of the beginning.

Just as a general rule before I read through this; are you guys discussing the first series, or will R2 be discussed as well? From the first post it looks like its going into R2 which means I'd have to back out. The topic should really just be Code Geass or something if it is but whatever. XD

The entire thing, first season and R2.

I believe that this will change absolutely NOTHING. There was a similiar case regarding "inappropriate" content in Eroges a few years ago and the companies "agreed" to not do this anymore, and see how much it changed since then.

Also, maybe I'm wrong on this but as I've heard, just like the prior case, it's not something enforced by law, just an agreement by producers saying "we're not going to do it anymore", but with their fingers crossed behind their backs. In the end, nothing is gonna change and even if it does, there's still doujinshi and fangames.

This stuff is Japanese culture. There's no [tornado fang]ing way that it'll get put away like this, just like there will always be giant robots in Japan tearing each other to shreds and punching holes through time-space.

And besides guys, most people rather watch Hentai (which is not affected by this stuff at all, so [twin slasher] away) instead of playing Eroges. I on the other hand am worried if this in some way or another might affect the Tsukihime remake.

Oh, I figured that was a French name or something.

It is a French name. Though Wikipedia only brings up two entries when searching for "Lelouch": Lelouch Lamperouge and Claude Lelouch.

I believe the the word "Geass" derives from Irish mythology.

Geis.
