If it was full price I'm most certainly sure people would rage/ignore it/only rent it, just look at Mirror's Edge.

Are you kidding me? Everywhere I go there are people talking about or buying this game in droves. Some people are actually upgrading their PCs so they can double dip when the PC version comes out since it takes advantage of some PhyX tech Nvidia's pumping out.

I remember someone on NeoGAF bringing up this article. All I have to say is a short 3 - 5 hour Sonic game with classic -- hell tightened Unleashed Day Stage mechanics, tons of replay and a light story would be leaps and bounds greater than anything one could do to artificially extend the game's length.

Besides we all know what bloating tends to do to otherwise solid games (see Twilight Princess). 8D

Also, since it was on my mind and related to this topic, anybody ever realize how easy it is to go back and play through the Genesis Sonics multiple times, seeing the same things over and over again, and yet never get tired of it?

For people like Wanda and her Wii version, they dun get Mazuri stages. :'( Well, at least I fully completed the game in five days. >.>;;

I'm in this situation myself and contemplating (still) how I'm gonna get the HD version. Savannah Citadel (Maizuri) & Empire City (New York) must be played dammit! >BD

Nah, it's fine. Besides, now I won't have to pester people to help me set up something that a handful of people would deal with otherwise.

Wow, people have taken to calling the final boss theme "EPICARIFICBLARGH". Indeed, I find it pretty good, but is it really worth a new vocabulary word?  ???

I love the music for Empire City. Day time is pretty intense and night time gives me the feeling of a 1920s metropolis. The night time music for the hub world also sounds like a good tune to have playing on your iPod while walking around Central Park at night or any of New York's locations.

Empire City all around gets a nomination from me for best in game locale of the year so far. XD

OK, so I've been getting very burned lately by anime, and I have to ask, on a scale of 1 - orgasm, how good is this series?

Also, why is the animation of that video so much like Megaman Zero to me? That's a good thing by the way. XD

1. Best game you've played this year
(Doesn't have to be a 2008 release, as long as you played the game for the first time this year.)
Super Mario Galaxy

2. Worst game you've played this year
None really.

3. Best 2008 release
Super Smash Bros. Brawl

4. Worst 2008 release
Super Smash bros. Brawl actually. It was a victim of hype, otherwise, I'm sure online would be a hell of a lot better than it is now. XD

5. Game you spent the most time with in 2008
Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I see a pattern. 8D

6. 2008 release you wish you had purchased
Wario Land Shake It! Because clearly buying it as a gift for someone first was a bad move. -u-'

7. Best downloadable 2008 release
Mega Man 9, duh.

8. Best current-gen console/portable in 2008
DS/Wii/360/PS3. What, I like a lot of stuff. XD

9. Most underrated 2008 release
Sonic Unleashed or World of Goo

10. Most overrated 2008 release
Grand Theft Auto IV or Gears of War 2.

11. A 2008 release that you didn't even have to play to discard
Imagine! (Anythingz) by Ubisoft. XD

12. Best gameplay or control mechanic of a 2008 release
Gliding in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Just because it looks cool. XD

13. Your main in Super Smash Bros. Brawl?
Marth

14. From 1 to 10, how would you rate 2008 as a game year?
Hmm, i'm gonna give it a 7.5 - 8 so far. It could have been a 9 if the console I currently own (Wii) didn't experience so many shortages and shovelware attempts and if the other 2 HD brothers had more games towards my preferences. Keyword there is more.

15. Is your favorite 2008 release among your favorite games ever?
Definitely.

16. Is your favorite 2008 release better than your favorite 2007 release?
Hell no. The only game on par with Super Mario Galaxy in my opinion is Super Mario Bros. 3.

17. Do you plan on getting a next-gen console next year? Which one?
I'd say 360, but a bunch of the games on the 360 list, I could get for a better value for my PC. PS3 has Valkyria Chronicles however... 8D

18. How could Nintendo have saved their E3 2008 conference?
Needs more Yo-Yo using, puzzle solving, & Zoda defeating (StarTropics 3). XD

19. Next year I'll be looking forward to...
[chameleon sting]ing Punch-Out Wii & Sin & Punishment 2. Muramasa is also highly wanted.

20. Favorite game ever
Super Mario Bros. 3

The year is not over with yet, so I cannot answer this question yet.  I have yet to get Gundam vs. Gundam for the PSP, and the Vs. Gundam series rank in my Top 10 favorite games of all time, so I'll wait a bit.

Hence why I wanted to do the thread. I had banners and pictures man. BANNERS & PICTURES. XD

As a oldbie Sonic fan, let me put in my silly two cents and say music in Sonic games in general need more Genesis chip tunes. 8D

Also, while the 80s rock didn't bother me much in the Adventure series, I do believe that Sonic should never just be rock. If the series had to define itself with one type of music, it'd be pop, hip hop, or funk. (See Sonic 3 & Sonic Rush for details)

Still, Unleashed is pretty damn awesome with it's musical diversity. Rooftop Run Zone (Spagonia), Windmill Isle Zone (Apotos), and Dragon Road Zone (Chun-Nan) have the best post Adventure 1 level themes I've heard in a while.

Edit - Also, Unleashed brought back the tradition of calling the levels "Zones" in console games, so use the zone names dammit! XD

I tend to stick to characters that I am fond of. So you never see me using a wide rage of characters. I tend to figure out how to use my character on a wide range.

Whoa, I'm late. I joined and await confirmation Lou. Also, get ready to face all of my favorites today. 8D

Lag notwithstanding. XD

I've been lurking about this thread for a bit of time now, but after reading the bits about MST22XX, I have to say, this could become legendary.

Forget digging around, I'll WRITE ONE.

I just need some inspiration and cocaine.

And it just shot more points up the ladder with this. XD
