If the newer Sonic Team has done far more 'side projects', I guess one could say the influences left on them from their other projects rounded back onto the Sonic series. Of course, this could just be a random rant about stupid things I don't even understand.
All you need is right here. It's actually a good read as it stands as a testament to how far the once godly Sonic Team has fallen.

Pyromonki said it earlier, but now after thinking about it, a MM10 with Wario Land Shake It! or Muramasa: The Demon Blade caliber animations and sprites would be godly as long as it could play as fast paced as MM9.
Other than how it would look though, I wonder how else it could be innovative. Maybe even more creative level design?

Sonic's Brawl design was an incredibly well done middle ground between old Sonic and new Sonic. I wouldn't mind seeing that design used more often if the HD Unleashed model isn't coming back (hopefully it will be).
