SEGA AM2 is truly a divine bunch of developers. They're like the EAD Tokyo of the blue side. Honestly though, this game looks like something I have to look into. I second the notion of getting it to the consoles and eventually the US soon.

3452
This is basically like Nintendo getting their own version of Clover Studios, more or less. I look forward to seeing what E3 and beyond have to offer...

Project Sora + Platinum Games + EAD Tokyo mashup. It will melt faces and produce a simultaneous worldwide "Mega Man 9 Effect" for the few show floor days that are E3. XD

Gaming / Just a bit of Last-Second Clarification on "Project Sora"

From what I understand, Nintendo and Sora, two separate companies, together made a new company called Project Sora to be a Nintendo-owned company.

I suppose Nintendo doesn't just own Sora since it only consists of Sakurai and one other unnamed person.

I guess Sakurai just wanted to keep the name himself as a sort of... well... something he can completely call his own?

I guess it was never a company, it was only literally, tied to Sakurai himself; Sakurai = Sora. Like that.

But Project Sora is going to be a complete game development company.

That's how I see this.

And it showed that Nintendo spent $200M Yen to own 72% of Project Sora, I guess that wanted to keep track of how much they spent (as the number seems to be a straight 200M Yen) versus taking in a certain fraction/percentage of the company, like 75% or 80% like the amount of Monolith they own.

Strange, especially as didn't Nintendo and Sakurai create the company? You're only paying for the name, and the work environment, they make it sound like Nintendo just bought out a previously unheard of company.

Another "DO WANT" class game that I can't get right away... ;O;

I hope a token black guy is interested in a signature/avatar/whatever? ~w~

[tornado fang] yeah. *hair flip* 8D

3455
Someone didn't read the press release. 8D

It's not so bad, I already left some good info. :)

3456
What's the difference between this and DS Lite?

+ Better specs
+ Has a camera for manipulating things and fun applications (think Game Boy Camera)
+ SD Card slot
+ DSi Ware Store (and possible GB/GBC/GBA Virtual Console)
+ Larger Screens
+ Brighter Screens

- No GBA Slot
- Batteries are depleted faster on the higher light settings

+/- 169.99 vs 129.99 lite

? - possible (confirmed) DSi only games coming soon.

3457
Phooey on your white. That blue looks sexy.

For once we get acolor the Japanese don't and there are still complaints?

This too.

3458
Yeah, that was meant as more of a fun note than anything serious though.

3459
Jelly, I'm just going to imagine that basically, your E3 Nintendo conf. is set to the highest level of anticipation right now!   8D

Do not be surprised if I either keep a straight professional face all the way through or froth uncontrollably at the mouth over the internet. I'm prepared for a good and bad conference simultaniously and will switch between the two whenever necessary.

However, pray for my heart if anything regarding StarTropics, Star Fox Wii, or the next Smash comes up. Seriously. XD

EDIT - I am so pissed off right now. Sora is hiring for crying out loud. It's a personal dream of mine to be doing Game Design or Animation/Art. Even more so for Nintendo... And they're hiring... [tornado fang]. XD

Lots of Nintendo news out of the blue lately... Wonder what's up, anyways:

Press Release is Here.

And then there was Rhythm:

Quote
Also on April 5, a new Nintendo DS game, Rhythm Heaven, will join this roster of games available for both Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DS owners in the United States. Having sold more than 1.6 million copies since its July 2008 launch in Japan and still increasing sales today, this infectious game challenges players to tap and slide the stylus on the touch screen in time to original music created by legendary Japanese pop-star producer TSUNKU♂. Simple gestures with the stylus combined with fun music and quirky visuals make Rhythm Heaven a completely unique musical experience for players of all ages.

So lemme get this straight, you all knew this already and didn't make a thread? XD

Meanwhile, I miss having a computer and being on top of things. :C

3462
I see nothing but good things coming from this.

Did you not see my use of ebonics in the first post? XD

I expect and guarantee it.

3463
i had no idea Sora was freelance...

Really? That was pretty well known for a while. It was all because old Nintendo did something to Kirby Air Ride that kinda sat badly with Sakurai. (It was supposed to be his most ambitious Kirby project and even though he was kinda tired of working on the one IP for so long, he still wanted to give it his best. I think someone more knowledgeable could fill in the minors here.) He then left Nintendo for a bit seeking his own development path and founded Sora at the same time. Recently though, Iwata, who was like his right hand guy, noted how he thought that Sakurai had a profound impression within Nintendo and brought him back giving him full freedom to create any kind of game he so chose, something Sakurai always wanted within Nintendo.

*Fanboy Mode On*

HOLY [tornado fang]ing [parasitic bomb]. This is the kind of news I missed in the gaming world for so long!

*Fanboy Mode Off*

Ahem... As many of you might (you [tornado fang]ing should if you don't) know, Masahiro Sakurai of the freelance game developer company known as Sora along with a few other notable people (Game Arts, Nintendo EAD, etc.) were the ones responsible for my most played game of the generation thus far, namely Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

[Silly Jelly note: After reading the news and trying to create this post, I honestly had a lapse for a second here and didn't know how to word things eloquently here. It was just that big to me. XD]

In a late night conference last night, Iwata formally bought out a sizeable amount of the company (72%). It would seems that Iwata's friendship with the guy was all that was needed in order for him to be brought back into the Nintendo fold. This also means that Sakurai, creator of the Kirby series, Smash Bros. series & Meteos is BACK at Nintendo permanently with full autonomy over the content and games that he and his company want to make. In short, this is the news of the forever for me.

I can't even think straight enough too make the opening post all formal so I'll just leave this here:

And links:

And as if this announcement wasn't amazing enough, here comes the part that sent my hype into orbit:

Quote from: Translated from Kotaku
About this project the new company is working on, Satoru Iwata assured that it's not another Smash Bros. game, saying, "It's not Smash Bros. I asked for." Sakurai added, "I can promise an experience that's different from anything [you've played] up until now."

Kotaku Article

In short: GET HYPE SON. XD

Rockman Series / Re: So what's with the hand gesture?
« on: February 18, 2009, 05:04:26 PM »
Or Megs & Co. are just throwing up gang symbols.

Now I wanna see someone make a gif of Rock, Roll & the Megaman 9 robot masters going "BALLIN'!"

I'd pay for that laugh. XD

Nevermind that the rest of this update was golden, the second to last panel was flawless. XD

3467
This still should have been turned into FMA thread the moment the news about no second Haruhi season came out. Now we have to deal with some super huge topic title filled with 11 names about less than 5 minute shorts >.>

I like the way you think. XD

What is Modern Anime in General?

A miserable little pile of meh!

*Prays for Full Metal Alchemist 2nd Run to change this.* XD

3471
Damn, and here I thought I was hot [parasitic bomb] back in the day with my divine love for the Spellcasters in the game. XD

I'm sad that they went and banned a bunch of cards from my favorite booster (Invasion of Chaos) later on though, [parasitic bomb] was awesome when you could completely sweep someone in one full turn with the Chaos Emperor Dragon, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning & (my personal favorite) the Dark Magician of Chaos. XD

Meanwhile strategies you say? Here's a simple one. Dedication Through Light & Darkness >>> Dark Magician of Chaos Special Summon + Diffusion Wave Motion. Provided I was flexible enoughto adapt for the situation this one was complete and total [twin slasher] for people I played against at the time, who strangely enough never bothered with monsters over the Black Magician's ATK power. It was great whenever I got those three set up correctly. Every monster just became banned one after the other.

Then here's a fun one, what's everyone's three favorite booster pack releases? Mine are Invasion of Chaos (reasons are above), Magician's Force (Dark Paladin & Magician Girl? SOLD!) & Metal Raiders (Mirror Force for life). XD

And now this thread makes me want to get one of the newer games for some online bouts. -u-'

I saw this elsewhere and couldn't believe it. Then I watched the video and couldn't breathe from laughter. XD
Also, the pirates vs. ninjas thing was funny.

Do want highly. Then again, I'm all in it if I get to hear another awesome Magma Man rendition and a truly great Strange World (Wily Stage 3 & secret best song of Megaman 9) remix at the least.

Gaming / MadWorld Story Update - Matsuno, is that You? 8D
« on: February 17, 2009, 03:44:34 AM »
As it would turn out, Yatsumi Matsuno is the man responsible for MadWorld's "oddly compelling storytelling & scenarios" as IGN put it.

Just thought I'd leave this here for you guys. Dunno how big it might be to RPM due to the amazing amount of contrary opinions, but [tornado fang] if this isn't big overall, especially considering the sheer amount of Japanese dev talent currently working at Platinum Games (Inaba-Mikami-Kamiya-Matsuno).

Quote
One special point of interest is that Madworld's story was developed with help from Yasumi Matsuno (the game designer behind Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy XII) who, it turns out, was tapped by his friend Atsushi Inaba of Platinum to work on the game's scenarios. Given all the experience at Platinum, as well as the experience that Matsuno brings to the table, we're anxious to see how this craziness is going to play out.

Meh, the vast majority of anime humor does not meet my taste. There are exceptions, but I think cartoons do it better.

Of course, this entire matter is completely subjective.

You know, I think I can kinda agree to this. Then again, In my life, I don't think I've watched a shitton of anime like others have. It's just that the ones that I did had some really great stuff going for them in the long run.

Now then, semi-semi on topic: I'm gone from RPM for all but a week and this happens? Wow. Meanwhile I can definitely say that I am completely indifferent to Haruhi. Lucky Star was great however, but it wasn't "Best Anime Ever" material to me by a longshot.
