Two things. First off my dogde-fu was horrid in all those Yoshi matches. Stupid lag... I especially felt bad about all those victories of mine via Final Smash.

Secondly, taking godly damage on Smashville only to lag read and running flip kick you three into near-oblivion? Priceless and saved. 8D

Well, since I really haven't made a general announcement about this, I haven't and probably won't be on or around RPM as much due to my laptop biting the dust a few weeks back. I'll try to get in touch with everyone once in a while through internet channel. Otherwise, pray for me getting a new laptop soon & in general. I need it.

Yeah, I knew all of that already, I just felt like being spontaneous for the sake of it since this is a total wildcard in terms of speculations.

Secret Rings is different from this one too. The sword doesn't have the same snap to it as the homing attack when taking out enemies. And from the videos I've watched, I hate how much you have to slow down to even attack the enemies. The whole game just reeks of cheap. Even the low-def Unleashed looks better.

I think this is the one Sonic game that truly deserved its panning for a lot of these reasons stated above. I played it and was kinda saddened by a lot of things. For example, while full control over Sonic & no constant moving forward could have been a full plus, the jittery analog movement proved that tilt controls are really an underestimated gem of an idea when it comes to controlling 3D Sonic. Why they didn't allow for nunchuk tilt to allow for slight lean a la Secret Rings is beyond me, but I digress.

The sword. It was a terrible idea from the get-go, but hey, we've all seen bad ideas before in the recent games. The thing that killed it for me personally was the slowdown and response time between the attacks & the wagglan. It just reeked of unpolished.

Then there's bits of the game's presentation. No shuttle loops, Eggman, or visible rings? Someone's got some 'splanin' to doooo~!

I liked the Secret Rings direction and thought that it was really one massive step forward in the 3D Sonic game realm, moreso than even Unleashed (and I love me some Day Stages in Unleashed!) but this game really detached itself too far from what made Secret Rings (and Sonic in general) great and tacked on waaaaay too much bad in the process. So much so that now, I'm fully of the belief that the only ones who have even an inkling of a good/decent Sonic vision are Dimps and the ones responsible for the Day Stages (particularly Rooftop Run) in Sonic Unleashed.

TL;DR: Matt was on fire in that review, I agree completely after playing the game.

Gaming / More teasing from WayForward. Speculation Ahoy!
« on: March 07, 2009, 01:44:40 AM »

Top 3 best speculations from me:

1.) The Luigi to Shantae's Mario?
2.) (Hopefully) A new platformer franchise main character?
3.) WayForward's first foray into RPGs this gen?

You decide. Either way, I'm hyped. AGAIN. 8)

Yeah, the Contra stages are a work of art.

Yea, the talented guys over at GAF responsible for them need to be commended for them.

Its great to have no lag. :D

OK pup, just for you, watch out in the next rounds we have. I hate letting a loss get to me, but if you're going to brag then so be it...

This means war. >BD

Actually, lemme just take two seconds to say that anyone who played without the lag I was fighting against just now...

[tornado fang]. YOU. Yes you, the one reading this.

I'll be back on after hearing PB & Aka's thoughts on this all.

Never in my life have I hated a series of Smash matches like tonights. Good job WFC.

Edit - Even this post is too mellow when trying to express my rage.

God damn that track is awesome, nevermind if there's a nod to Megaman in there or not.

Completely [tornado fang]ing agreed. Capcom's sound teams are gods.

Now that I think about it, SBahB could make some interesting use of the Wiimote. Will all the shapes and forms Blob can take.

I think this is the best part of everything honestly. Developers imo are really underwhelming with Wiimote applications. With something like this, it's easy to get hyped since it could promise a whole lot more for how games can be designed to be fun around the remote.

Keep in mind I only say this because of my own crazy thoughts on the matter, but it is a valid point. XD

You think this is the big news? Check this out -- WayForward is doing the game, I repeat WayForward of LIT, Contra 4 & [chameleon sting]ing Shantae fame is doing this one. Get hype. XD

All This Love - El DeBarge

I'm a total and complete sucker for the way this song opens. Those first ten seconds are amazing and the rest of the song is fantastic.

Oh, NO ONE here hates Kyogre as much as Jelly does.

Kyogre is one of the reasons why I considered turning off Pokeballs in a few of my past matches. XD

But it seems like I've made an even better ally in Deoxys. 8D

Damnit, sometimes it really sucks to have a younger brother with a gaming addicition. My bro won't stop until he's throughly broken Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World and as such, my Wii playing hasn't been as frequent as I'd like. Expect a good day of matches tomorrow though due to being snowed in. 8)

I love those delays because you know someone is about to die... or go flying very very far on the largest stages.

Seriously, Brawl has some stupidly fun item animations at times. The best is to do this, then immediately follow up with a sticky bomb on the face of the person about to fly off. It's like your own special effect toy. XD

I've rarely seen a stock match go to Sudden Death without a time limit, so that was pretty neat.

That said, I think I could take Sakurai with Sonic, opinions of others be damned!

What Sakurai needs to do to get Brawl hype started again is post his friend code on the Dojo site sometime. Imagine how the internet would react to facing him off. I imagine a lot of Brawl taunt quotes would get a chuckle out of him though, like You Must Recover, etc. XD

That all said, methinks he played like that on purpose. I hear he's godly with a Marth though. (And Marth isn't even one of his top 3 favorites?)

I'd say at least it's not a prequel/sequel to FF6, which I believe doesn't really need a continuation of any sort, but I have a feeling Squenix is already thinking of a way to absolutely mangle that title.

FFVI: The Magi Wars. You heard it here first. XD
