Mandibuzz soon arrived at the cafeteria, and noticed the group of Pokemon playing. Solosis bounced in joy upon seeing Mandibuzz, and faced Merrick who was preoccupied with something. Mandibuzz turned in Solosis's direction, and saw Merrick holding something in his hand. But she saw something more important.
Mandibuzz zeroed in on Merrick, talons ready to grab the duffel bag on his back.

Once back in his room, Earl slapped himself. "Why did I have to make that comment!? He was starting to trust me! I'm such an idiot!"
After ruffling his hair in whatever gel was left, he tried to communicate with Solosis again. With the much fainter squeaking, he was able to mentally connect with Solosis. Earl then called forth his Mandibuzz, which gave him a blank stare. Earl applied a tiny bit of whatever's left of Solosis's gel on Mandibuzz's head feathers, and soon, she too was connected. Images of Merrick's duffel bag flowed into Mandibuzz's mind, and Earl briefed her on the coming plan. With a nod, Mandibuzz flew out of the room, and headed towards the cafeteria, searching for the duffel bag.

Earl couldn't take it anymore. He went into the bathroom, and began to wash off Solosis's gel from his hair, which acted as the conduit. Leaving just enough to maintain contact, but block off the squeaking, he exited his room, and headed towards the cafeteria, looking completely haggard.
