Reva jumped a bit at the Black Mage's sudden outburst, it was admittedly odd to see a black mage be so...loud or at least that's the feeling she got from the large face covering hats most of them seemed to wear. Glancing around again she realized the only table not filled was his and given his attitude it was easy to see why. Reva considered just heading to bed but an ache in her tummy quickly changed her mind.

"Umm--excuse me sir, all the other tables are full mind if I sit down for dinner?" Reva moved next to PB's table waiting to get his attention before speaking.

Plot - Stories tells of the lost kingdom of Zepter once prosperous but now lost in a deep fog, a legend of a king who in his quest for power led his people down the path of ruin. While the kingdom has fallen into the realm of legend many heroes brave the fog in hopes of finding fame and fortune yet none ever return, did they fall to the monsters and traps of the lost land or did the fog simply swallow them up?  Perhaps a new generation of heroes will brave the fog and unlock the secrets to the lost land and become legends.

Locations

Zepter
The lost kingdom, in it's golden age the land was a place of great wealth and magical knowledge; however it's king greedy and decadent sought even greater fortune and was said to have unleashed ruin on his kingdom. While the details of this fall are unknown a deep fog acts as a barrier around it's borders slowly expanding over the generations. Many heroes and adventurers have breached the fog to stop the expansion of the unnatural fog or pillage the land of it's treasures yet none have ever returned.

Goldwood
A small village on the border of the encroaching fog, modest but friendly. Contains an Inn/Tavern, a weapon, armor and item shop and several houses. The goldwood forest is the source of the town's name.

Reva
Class: Fighter
Race: Human
Age: 25
Weapon: Silver Sword and Buckler
Magic: None

A young adventurer traveling across the world searching for adventure and riches, Reva is confident and brave although somewhat overconfident and stubborn. Wielding her families' silver sword a once enchanted blade that has lost most of it's magical power over the centuries she hopes to find the fabled "Crown of the Beast King" said to belong to the lord of Zepter before it's fall.

-----

Reva sighed as she passed the wooden gates of Goldwood, it had been a long if not dull journey; the town looked peaceful enough and if her information was right should have everything she needs to stock up for her journey into Zepter. It was getting dark and her tired legs made their point that it was time to find lodging for the night, taking a moment she manages to track down the inn the largest building in the town.

"Goldwood Inn, huh not a very creative name...oh well." Reva shrugs pushing open the door entering the homely inn. A middle aged man sits at the counter near the far wall while a young woman moves between tables seeing to orders from the patrons, it would appear the inn also doubles as a tavern too. It's oddly busy for a town so close to the fog, Reva was almost sure the town would have been abandoned by now like the others consumed by the fog.

"Greeting stranger, looking for a room?" The middle aged man beckons her over with a smile as Reva closes the door behind her.

"A meal and a bed would be lovely." Reva leaned on the counter sighing

"Well we have a few rooms available still, it's ten gold a night plus dinner and breakfast." The innkeeper reaches below the counter laying a sign in book in front of him.

"Alright I'll take it...seems kinda busy tonight." Reva noted as she placed her coins on the table.

"Lately all sorts of adventurers have come to Goldwood, I guess they all hope to brave the fog and explore the ruins of Zepter. Oh whats your name miss?" The Innkeeper begins scribbling in the book and reaches back for a silver key to Reva's room.

"Reva, guess I'm not the only one then." Reva takes the key and looks back to find a free table.

"Go find yourself a table and I'll have dinner brought out, stew tonight." The innkeeper nods writing in her name before turning back to his work.

Reva moved out into the eating area, the light glow of the fireplace created a homely ambiance although she might have to share with another patron as all the tables seemed filled.

((Okay I think goldwood inn is a good meeting place for everyone, when you post give a brief description of your character and perhaps their motivations for wanting to travel to Zepter.))

It appears Williams was suffering from depression prior to this, still...this is awful news.

"The Sparkvernian War was rather nasty... I had to do a few things I wasn't too fond of back then. Sparky had his good moments before then, but he certainly took things too far," Fxeni chimed in, looking around the table. Everyone looked kind of glum and quiet.

"So umm... sorry to change the subject, but you said you were chasing someone here Blue? Would those new ships that are around the Wily II Star be related?" Ariani chimed in, despite being silent most of the time beforehand. She didn't have much to add in up to this point, since she hadn't experienced anything of these events personally and had merely heard of everyone's known exploits.

"Yes a robot space pirate known as captain white beard, he stole an ancient relic from my world a relic I'm pretty sure he and Wily are using to power their war machines. As for his ships I'm not sure they kinda remind me of the captain's old warship I guess Wily helped make more?"

Blue Shrugs  "Either way I need to get it back and soon it's to dangerous to leave in anyone's hands."

I guess what I mean is we'd RP like were all used to with one of the players handling how events play out (perhaps in an attempt to tell a larger story) using the dice rolls to help keep things fresh by adding a sorta random element to how exploration is handled. You wouldn't need to be in charge of this if you didn't want to of course.

If this all sounds overly complicated to everyone we can just RP like normal and cut the dice roll parts.

I admit I never really bought into the idea X needed a sequel, everything seemed so neatly wrapped up with that ending part kind mirror's the last scene in VII in giving players something to talk about. I honestly had no idea there was attempts to expand things further, but my god this was just bad.

Although X-2 had great game play, I love the way the class system worked in that.

Can you elaborate on the "Encounter helpful NPC" aspect?

I may give Arche a horse, as the Paladin class from Fire Emblem Awakening grants Chrom an armored horse.

A merchant most commonly or someone who could give us little quests to do in that area. Thats the basic concept I had anyway, obviously who ever is in charge of the current plot would need to think something up for quests but it might be a fun idea.

As to not spam up the general thread lets move our chat here.

Fantasy RP

-Takes place outside the canon of other RP threads allowing for us to do what we want.
-Takes place in a sandbox allowing anyone to add any theme appropriate local they wish.
-Characters should least be in part inspired by classic FF classes.
-I'll come up with a basic first quest to get us started then we can go in any direction we want.

So before I was talking about using dice rolls to determine what our party encounters.

D10 example

1-3 - Encounter Treasure
4-6 - Encounter Monster
7-9 - Encounter Trap or Hazard
10 - Encounter helpful NPC

If anyone has a better idea on this sorta system feel free to chime in.

Dice rolls could also be used to help create dungeons by randomizing rooms, with certain elements of a room being tied to rolls on a dice the current person in charge of the RP would do when the group moves to a new room. I'll have to brain storm on that idea more though.

When I get the post up tonight or tomorrow morning we can spend the first bit getting our characters acquainted before we get an adventure going.

What happened to Wily anyway? Hopefully nothing bad and just him taking a break from the forums?

Seems the dice idea is popular, would be kinda neat to extend that to creating of rooms in dungeons too like deciding if what kinda traps and monsters and secrets we come across. Everyone toss in your ideas if you think of something neat okay?

Wow all this RP talk when we have a perfectly good thread for it in the RP section.

Simply lovely.

Good point, guess I'll make the topic for discussion.  XD

How would everyone feel for encounters we use a dice roll to determine what pops up?

Like say a ten sided dice

1-3 Find Treasure or encounter NPCs
4-6 Encounter Monsters
7-10 Traps/hazzards

Might help keep things fresh?

I might do the same for my character too. Yeah time mages have had some odd powers over the years, FF5 had Geomancers but they were way too situational.

Multiple characters would be okay but perhaps hold off on adding news ones until we do a few quests as a group, up to you in the end though as long as it fits the fantasy world this is taking place in. As for classes yeah sticking to dedicated roles will help everyone feel useful in conflicts, that being said you don't need to stick to classic FF class visual design if you don't want to.

The first post will contain a short summary of the world and it's rules as well as a bit of an intro. When you all start posting maybe include a little info on your characters and what their goals are too (art or example of appearance if possible.)
