« on: July 06, 2010, 01:05:52 AM »Oh, I hate Pan/Deep Dish/Chicago Style pizza. It's disgusting. To me, putting toppings on, or in, a pizza is trying to improve upon a unique taste that needs no improvement. It's like people who like putting Pineapple & Ham on a pizza. I find it sickening.
If you want more of a bread feel to the crust, then that's what a NY Sicilian slice is for. Also, it's not like living off a grilled cheese sandwich, because a grilled cheese sandwich is just a grilled cheese sandwich. It's not meant to have any meats, veggies, or anything added to it. It's meant to be bread & cheese. Once you add things to it, it ceases to become just a grilled cheese sandwich and becomes a hero or whatever.
This is why I only like plain NY Style Pizza. A slice of pizza is not meant to be a sandwich. It's meant to be a goddamn slice of motherfuckin' pizza. It doesn't try to pretend to be something it's not. If I'm looking for something other than a simple slice of pizza, I have a hot sandwich with melted mozzarella cheese on it. If I want something fresh and healthy, I'll have a salad or some grilled chicken. If I want Pizza, then I have what I pictured above, in all it's greasy glory.

Well, while Alma has stated most of my opinion here to a degree, I must say...
As someone who has sampled the "infamous" NY style pizza, I can say that it is very overrated and very bland. It's more like a commodity than an actual example of excellent flavor. Now, that's just my opinion. It's too simple for my tastes, someone who likes a lot of different toppings on his pizza. I like veggies and a nice thick crust, maybe with some cheese inside of it to add a nice snack after the main course of the meal. Pizza sticks? [tornado fang] that, Stuff Crust Pizza satisfies that desire all in one. And if we're talking health wise... omg, NY pizza is like eating a slice of grease dipped in lard batter. No offense. Papa Murphy's is just that much more... fresh and healthy tasting. And smelling no less, and you STILL get to enjoy the fact you're eating pizza.
While I normally side with PB on something, gotta say hands down... West Coast Pizza ftw.

Seriously, I don't think alot of people like "everything you've done so far is fake and utterly meaningless". And narratively, it had the typical JRPG kind of plot/dialogue. Which pretty much spells "awful".
It didn't exactly say that everything you did was utterly meaningless... unless that is as far as your mental scope can handle. I suppose that means robots that can think and feel have no souls? There is no humanity in anything but something that is purely human? Are you able to make such decisions yourself and easily deny them existence? Is your understanding that limited? These are the kind of questions it actually asks, as opposed to what it tells you. Your limitation determines what the game is saying.
Also, "typical JRPG plot/dialogue" doesn't spell awful, that is an opinion. But hey, these are all opinions. I just feel my opinion has more merit, I gave it more thought and decided not to dismiss it simply because of limitations of the self or stupid popular opinions.

This is a big kick in the face of people who enjoyed prequels and makes sequels incredibly silly.
Actually, it doesn't mean any of it didn't matter, it is more of an account to how sentient the world really was. It was even stated that the "game" was more like a live action TV show without the cast knowing there are any cameras, than an actual game. The world has sentient flow to it, it far surpassed that which the creators intended... kinda a "what if we weren't what God intended" type of thing.
Going beyond the expectations and what have you. It's actually a VERY interesting concept, it is just widely talked down against because critics tend to have one track minds, so it got a bad wrap.

Anyway, I kinda hate this "Word of God" thing. If these so called "authors" intend for the player to pay any sort of attention to a timeline, they would have made it obvious. They didn't. An author who goes back and says "Oh, this is intended to be this and that way, we just didn't explain it" is kind of stupid. Open endings are open endings, interpretations are interpretations. Nothing the player thinks of this or that is canon, but if they intend to use one canon and for the person who's following the story to recognize it as such, then they should INCLUDE IT IN THE DAMN PRODUCT to begin with.
That'd be too easy though
I like to make people suffer instead... oh wait, we aren't talking about me.
Not sure why writers do what they do. Everyone has a wacky reason for it.
