Gaming / Re: The Last Story (Wii) - Mistwalker x Nintendo RPG
« on: August 12, 2010, 06:29:14 AM »
...uh... do you or do you not? So far, you said you liked classic things, I told you this game was anything but classic in gameplay. You told me that the story, theme and feel was what you were worried about. I said you were worried about that rather than the gameplay. And now you say "I just don't care for the theme, story and/or feel of various things."

...which one is it? Was that last one a typo?

I don't care about the story, theme and/or feel of various things NOW, is a better explanation. My apologies. What is the rule as opposed to the exception (read: What I said about Nazis and Space Nazis) is something that I'm not exactly happy with.

But that is irrelevant. Yes, you are correct, I am more often worried about the story, theme and/or feel of things these days as opposed to gameplay. Gameplay doesn't make or break a game for me; I guess that is ironic. Gameplay is more like the frosting on my much more delicious chocolate cake. The crust holding my myriad of pizza toppings.

Etc.

Uncharted, for all the amazing acclaim it had, and all the success, would honestly be hard to call a bad game. As well as Gears and all of the great games in the genre.

So basically, your problem is with the story and theme rather than with the gameplay.

And now you've found the missing puzzle. That is the main factor with me. 9 to 10, I just don't care for the theme, story and/or feel of various things.

Considering this game seems to have pretty much the gameplay of current cover-based third person shooters like Uncharted and Gears, this is an extremely ironic statement. 8D

Uncharted wasn't a bad game, honestly. It didn't even feel like a shooter. More like Tomb Raider for real men with chest hair than anything else.

And it still LOOKS, SOUNDS and FEELS like an RPG. The visual representation is very RPG-esque. It still looks like it'll have a dynamic story that I actually give a [parasitic bomb] about. One that doesn't involve a buncha "wanna-be" hard ass soldiers with guns...

Or space guys that want to be hardass soldiers with guns. Killing aliens this time instead Nazis or Nazi ripoffs.

That said, I don't really have an arguement here thus far. You underestimate my flexibility, Flashikins. As well as my love for innovative ideas and flipping the board a bit.

I'm seemingly reminded time and time again why I picked the Wii over those two would-be behemoths. That said, this is shaping up to be one hell of a game. While it is incredibly innovative, at least visually (in all a good way), it still keeps the feel, look and sound of a JRPG. This is good, very good. While I will always love and prefer good ol' fashion Turn-Based RPGs, it isn't bad when something like this comes up.

This looks and sounds like a genuinely wonderful RPG. It gives me a bit of hope that the genre isn't going to be swallowed up whole by all the BS out there today and the "arms race" for "new ideas" when frankly, new blood pantheons don't have to erase anything or completely make everything blotted out.

There is still room for classics, defossilization and thankfully, Nintendo and several of their tailwinds, hasn't forgotten that.

Well I dunno, I just assumed they were sleeves according to the design Alma gave me. o-o;

Oh no, you're right. We rechecked everything and took a third close look. You did it exactly right. Thanks, Loki~

I guess the only thing that is missing is the wings, but I see that it'd be a bit difficult to do the wings.

All in all, I know I love it~

Fur? You mean the brown parts?

I didn't know that was fur. o-o

I can see what I can do to fix that, I suppose.

*blinks* My bad. Is it sleeves then? Err, I'll let you do what you think is best, you're the spriter mastah after all. XD

It looks pretty much perfect. I think the only thing she didn't like is that it looks anthromorphic due to the fur.

All in all though, it looks good.

*sigh*, time to go buy me that RossetaStone.

That basically. Should've done it a while ago in honesty. There are more games in Japanese than I want to play in English now, this wasn't always the case.

Time to pick up the books, for engrish has lost its use.

384
What really comes down to it for me is that there is still hope for Tales over here. It might seem bleak to some, but the fact they are still in business is a very good sign indeed.

So aside from Nintendo's grand achievements... there will still be some tasty morsels in the gaming world that can actually satisfy my taste.

Now if only we can get Graces... it is quite possibly the most interesting looking Tales I've ever seen. And not to mention, Mamoritai: White Wishes is such a beautiful song.

*bides his time* Well, it is either that or whip out the book and learn Japanese. Intended to do that anyway, just not so soon.

I am a fan of all kinds of video games, and I did grow up to appreciate the artistic, musical, emotional, visualizing and breath-taking experiences that they bring to everyone that loves games. I have proved myself to be very good at games too. Like example last week, I beat Rygar in an hour and I also beat Super C(ontra) with another player while dodging bullets in so many shocking ways. I like to play Turtles in Time on Hard with another player, and have some fun times with Tiny Toons: Wacky Sports Challenge with 3 other players. I'm also good at finding 100% items in Super Metroid under an hour and 30 minutes, and beating Zelda II without losing any continues. I collect games, specially old retro, obscure, unknown and Japanese games. I also love point-and-click games like Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Sam & Max, Monkey Island and so many others to count. If you want to see what other type of games I'm good at, you can always find me on Youtube or Justin.tv, because I do have an interesting list of games that I like to play. I also posted a list of Virtual Console, Wii Ware and Wii games I bought that might be interesting too. ^^

I still say you're one of the best gamers I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. XD

I could never imagine trying to do half of this stuff~! Welcome to RPM, Becky~ <3

Okay it wasn't Wily who banned him, it was Ares.  Point is Thantos is gone.

Best not forget that I did it either.

As for "Giga", I don't trust you.

I think you are Thanatos.

If you show even the slightest bit that you are, I'll eat you alive. Welcome.

Apparently she killed 99 servants or something.

Shiki can kill servants.

You mean, superior female shiki can.

Not sex fiend fucktard shiki.

Totally different playing field. I can dig this Shiki.

Oh wow.
I can't believe how you people whine about such things.
What happened to just, ya know, enjoying the game?
Unless well... the game sucks.
Wait Arcueid is a... ahahahahaa.
HILARIOUS!

You don't understand nor appreciate where a lot of the fandom and speculation fun comes from. But I suppose you're just one of those "gameplay onry" types, right? How video gaming has fallen...

Nero? What? That does make even less sense than Arturia.

And Gawain? Why? Why can't it simply be another Arthur? They can't just take the Archetype Saber design and assign it a completely new identity, can they?

Francis Drake? Wasn't there a perfectly fine female pirate captain that had been speculated about?

It's obvious by now that Nasu is trolling you.

Incidently, it looks really interesting and LOLBUDDHA. This game is really taking a turn for the wtf. Not that I'm complaining, outside of lolArc, I'm satisfied. I hope they bring it state-side, least I have to act like I know nipponese.

Ugh.

OK so... please tell me Shiki isn't in this. PLease? PLEASE? *goes to gamefaqs*

Getting kinda violent there. Also, that's not a fact. Because we'd still need to discuss what life and death means. Because EVERYTHING IS SUBJECTIVE! Yaaaaay!

...

*twitch*

CONTRADICTION IS THE BEST POWER EVER. ENJOY YOURSELF SUPERHERO. *shoots self*

Also, that's not violent for me. That's friendly endearment. And that's a "fact" hurf durf.

You already started with personal attacks, so I get that you mad.  :V

Look at it this way. It's my OPINION that this is a fact. And leave it that way. If you're crazy enough to think narrative quality is based on opinion, who the hell am I to tell you otherwise?

You wouldn't be posting if I was legitimately mad. >_> Irritated sure, mad? No.

Also. EVERYTHING is subjective. You wanna know what a fact is? If I put a bullet in your skull and blew your brains out the back of your head... you'd die. THAT is a fact. If you get shredded into tiny pieces in a meat grinder... you won't live. THAT is a fact.

If I write a love story tomorrow, it will turn out to be a great piece of work. That is a opinionated calculation based on subjective thinking of a situation.

Radda Radda Radda. Etc.

Opinions? It's just plain [tornado fang]ing stupid narrative turns in a story that used to be about a kid going on a big adventure, then went fuckup, and now it's pandering to emo yaoi lovers. I've crossed and recrossed the validity of the Organization as villains over and over, as well as what they've done that doesn't justify them being villains AT ALL. Their speeches make as much sense as saying "darkness darkness darkness" indefinetly, which was find in KH1 as the ranting of a single madman, but it's just plain stupid as a bunch of emo dweebs who wouldn't know evil if it slapped them in the face.

Heck, I'd make the same speech I've been doing in this topic for a long time. And I've got no time to remake it all over again.

Dude, you need to get over yourself. No matter HOW you twist it, an opinion is a goddamn opinion. One man's garbage is another man's treasure. Like all your bloody FPSes, your wacky DC comics and all the other stuff... that's your stuff. To me, it's convoluted and uninteresting.

OPINIONS.

MOTHER [tornado fang]ing OPINIONS! YOU SEE, WHAT I SAID ABOVE WAS AN OPINION. If I need to "clarify" it in a better way, I will. I think Thanatos got the picture.

Anyways, enjoy your OPINION DEBATE.

Well, people with bad taste have to exist. Takes all kinds to make the world what it is. What I'll say in Nomura's defense, the gameplay has evolved quite a bit from iteration to iteration. If we forget the monstrosity which was the DS title.

Just as well, people who don't realize that opinions are opinions and not really fact; good and bad are subjective as opposed to facts, exists.

Haha. Opinions.

G'night.

About the only thing I agree with is the disdain for the large influx of hoggays.

KH1 was the least interesting of the three I played so far, albeit a great game in it's own right.

Sooo... you like a bunch of emos in black cloaks which really have no reason to be evil in the first place and who pretty much DESTROYED the series' story...

...and you dislike Disney, which is... half of what KH2 is in the first place?

Yep. I don't care for the disney stuff to be honest. I enjoyed fighting the Orgy guys more than ANY of the Disney guys. So honestly, the first parts of the game are less interesting. It doesn't get really interesting till the latter half and especially the end of the game. Just how I feel, BRO.

So, I'll continue to support the "slaughter" of what you like about the series. 8D

Also, can't wait to play BBS. Hurry up American slaves. Translate that [parasitic bomb].

Nobody likes them. Just Nomura and the Roxas/Axel shippers.

I like them and I'm not big on either character.

So you lost. Yay.

Also, Orgy d00ds are cooler to fight than lol disney bosses. But hey, I don't really like Disney all that much. It was the original main turn off to the series for me.

Oh [parasitic bomb], I said I wasn't going to comment on this jerkfest. *walks away*

Aw, is alright~ You can look in the first post to see any clip from Final Mix that you like. >U<
