Strangest thing ever, a disposable cup for coffee when I received it had a hole in it so when I poured the coffee it started to spill out of it.  At least I wasn't hurt, but that was just weird.

I already knew this but damn I'm not social, or I just don't like working with kids, especially ones with disabilities since I can barely work with my dad. :\. Well my little cousin is the exception, but my brother does a better job at it since his major is, ironically enough, human services.

Surveys sure are weird, but at least since I posted the score in my notes I can just re enter them and print them out tomorrow for class.

Getting 3 hours of sleep last night is getting to me, but I wanted to get 80% of my business plan done so I could get the other 20% done at school today.   That and I procrastinated, luckily my teacher makes things sound harder than they are.

This is such a big deal it's not even funny.
Most wars sparked by a different opinion, particularly if said 'offensive' opinion had 'colorful' language, aren't.

Yeah, that doesn't sound bad at all, even for kindergarten.
Not really but he's having a hard time with some things.  He can't recognize some words like "the" "they" and "have".  According to a note he got from school his word recognition is a little lower than usual.  Another problem is since his parents can't speak they can't help him when he can't recognize a word.

The poor kid is frustrated and I can't blame the kid for not liking the assignment.

Also something I should mention is that both their kids can hear perfectly.

Dr Who reference.
Ah okay.  At least it's not as odd sounding as not wearing clothes to church, though the context was never explained.

The instructions were two pages long? Ouch.
Well it was one page front to back, so that's 2 pages.  It was also written in normal font instead of like a bigger font like they would for normal kid stuff.

I'm basically going to highlight the important stuff.

Okay I was able to read the assignment, she texted it to my mom's cell phone and I texted it to my iPhone and it's not that bad.  It's one to three sentences per week based on a prompt, make flash cards with pictures about it and do a presentation on it.  What they have to watch out for is spelling things right, proper pronunciation, make sure they capitalize and put periods at the end of sentences and make sure each word has a 2 finger spaces.

They basically made something that can be said in a few sentences more complicated by making the instructions 2 pages long.

Did his mom not pass highschool or does she have anxiety problems?
She's also deaf like her husband so some of the sentences may not make sense to her I think.  Since they communicate with mainly sign language when they send a text message the English is broken because they type like how they sign words which is much simpler than the English Language in terms of structure.  Either way it sounds like she needs some help.

WHY THE HELL ARE THEY MAKING KINDERGARTENERS DO WRITING ASSIGNMENTS?! o-O

Seriously apparently my little cousin came home with a double page paper writing assignment, written in normal font not big font I may add, and now his mom is crying because she can't figure it out.  We're gonna go to her house to help figure this out.

Yeah, but you have to worry about customers with any shop!
Well yeah of course.  I'll probably add a rule about no cussing in tournaments for the sake of who ever may show up.

Keeping it simple is a good idea, you can always add other merchandise like imports later if you wanted and there was a big enough demand. Cards against Humanity Turneys would be interesting.   XD
I worry about the soccer mom protests. XD After all I have no idea who would sign up for said tournaments and I have to be mindful of who shows up in my shop.

Hooray for Blue!! VICTORY!!!

That's a decent plan.
Yeah I was trying make it somewhat different but not overly complicated.  My brother actually suggested a sort of nerd hobby shop with anime, manga, Gundam models, and other related stuff but that just sounds so complicated to make it work, at least to me.

I might add board games to the mix too and of course take in used games from past generations because I think that more places need to do that in my opinion.

If I was crazy Cards against Humanity tournaments would be there to but I'm not that crazy. :P

No I don't think you are being naive at all, you have some really good ideas. You may want to include some other hobby stuff like Board Games such as Arkham Horror but the idea of running Tournaments would definitely help bring people in, getting to know your customers is key in this sorta thing as you can't ignore the importance of a loyal customer base.

Location is also very important, you need a place that's easy to get to without being too expensive to rent.
Yeah definitely especially since the building is probably going to be bigger than the average game shop to accommodate that social element.

I nearly removed this topic by accident, due to my phone freezing while I was touching the screen and selected "remove topic", for some reason.

Whoops~ 8D
That's seriously what happened to me when I accidentally removed the first one before the remove button disappeared.

White Beard Machine #4 looks menacing!

I'm curious. What kind of shop is this going to be? Just a local place that sells video games, or something much more?
Well I want it to be a place that sells video games and card games.  The way I want to drum up business is by have some frequent tournaments like maybe every 2 months or something with like Mario Kart, Magic the Gathering, Mario Party, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon and stuff like that and the winners get discount cards or something.  At least that's my current plan, it's subject to change of course.

I figured since the industry is just so risky right now with Gamestop, Amazon, Steam and Digitally Downloaded games that the best way to stay competitive that I can see is to promote a social element.  It probably sounds totally naive but I just don't like the sort of cold environment of pick up a game on the shelf, buy it, maybe chat with the clerk and go.

Though if I can't get it to work the Macaron bakery is going to be a backup plan.

Nah it's for the sake of the class, I want to make a video game shop.

You're the angriest thing I've ever seen since wafflepwn. is this really how receptive people are here ?

Whatever, calm down people, this is just supposed to be for entertainment jeez...
Or you know, everyone has different opinions, not right or wrong opinions just opinions.  It just so happens that the people who posted here have the same opinion about this topic and you don't.  An important rule about here, and the Internet in general, is that opinions are opinions and are not worth having a [sonic slicer] fest over them.  Leave the e-pride at home and learn to accept that people will not agree with you all the time.

Also the Megaman activity board has been stale for obvious reasons, I suggest you look at other sub sections of the board such as Off the Wall and Gaming so you can learn more about us in general.  In other words expand your horizons.

For the future, you should let your brother know about WWE Network, which streams all that [parasitic bomb] online for $10 a month.

If he wants to watch wrestling, let him pay for it.
He probably already knows about it, but I'll tell my mom to bring that up when she talks to him.

Sakura, you poor person in need of immediate hugs. I feel bad for you, I really do.

Thank the heavens my brother is a pretty cool guy. Even though he has his own house and a nightmarish hell-child (and a wife, obviously).
He's not that bad of a brother, but he can be quite careless, has a sense of entitlement since he's the older sibling (ie since he "needs" an iPod and as the younger sibling I don't "need" these items as much as he does so therefore if you can't buy for both of us you should buy only for him.  Luckily my mom never goes for such bullshit and in the end buys for both anyway.) and I have felt sibling neglect such as how he used to buy fast food lunch for himself and never asks me and when he comes back and I bring it up he says that I should have asked him even though I never know he's out in the first place and rarely takes me to places though this situation has improved since that night I cried about said neglect.

It's reasons like this that my mom decided to give me the power of attorney over my parents will other than the fact that I'm just better with money in general.  I know how to save money for what I want, get the most out of my budget as seen with the amount of swag I got for Christmas compared to what my brother got. My mom knows I'll be fair while she's not sure my brother will.  I mean for gods sakes I bought his Wii and when that [parasitic bomb] got stolen I was so pissed, especially since he got another from a friend for free! Not to mention I bought the DSi he's using while he still has to borrow my 3DS to play 3DS games.

Granted I don't have a job, a car and the expenses he does, but I at least know I can save a small amount of money per paycheck for things that I want eventually buy instead of just buying stuff on impulse buys or just pay $50 of a paycheck at once.  Plus I wouldn't eat out in restaurants as much as he does since I don't have friends who do that as much during the week like his do which means I also save money in gas.  Plus I cook at home more often than he does and once I learn how to make more stuff I would probably not need to eat out as much as he does.

It's like how my mom says our mottos are, his is "I AM!" while mine is "I economize."
