Well he also dates other people too even though he still has a crush on me.  He's really really good at making friends and is a natural flirt.  Hell he's almost like PB except for the fact that he has abandonment issues due to what his family put him though, is less perverted, and typically doesn't care about how he dresses unless it's for his job.

I had a few girls I had minor crushes on, mainly because I saw them attractive, not one of them had an attractive personality.

I'll admit they were kind of physical attractions, as much as I hate admit it.

 Physical attractions are the start of it, but what speaks volumes to me is if a guy is interested in me.  I have had guys interested in me before, like my best friend who still is, but I have rejected people if I feel if it wouldn't work.  For example there was this guy I've known since elementary who did say that he was interested in me but I never went with him because he had temper problems, he was bi polar ever since I knew him, and was a trouble maker so I didn't want go with it.

I know it sounds pretty hypocritical but after my last relationship, and I don't even think it was a real relationship in my opinion, I just want to be careful and learn more about people.

Well back then no, today yes.  I try to make friends with my crush first, the first one I mention we were already friends but again he was way too dense and he liked small breasted girls.  The other guy I couldn't even make friends with, he's the guy in anime club everyone hates and then after the way he treated me, ie he made me feel stupid and was a jerk, I didn't like him anymore.

In elementary school I got crushes like once a year, it didn't help that I was stupidly honest, naive, and didn't have many friends back then.  I still get crushes sometimes but I keep them to my self because the last 2 were either totally oblivious, not to mention he didn't like girls with big boobs, or the type of guy who is smart and obnoxious which is someone I can never get along with.  It's a way to protect myself really to see if it can work or not.

I don't get it.

I think it's disbelief that this was happening to you in 5th and 6th grade.  I never understood those types of kids who make fun of you for any stupid reason.

Well that's what friendships are, normally. There shouldn't be any pressure or tension or negativity. This is why making that a relationship with said friends can be dangerous, because relationships can lead to those three things. This is why the phrase "I only see you as a friend" is not always a lie. A lot of times people don't want to take the risk of ruining that pure, unbridled happiness.

....I'll admit, that is one of the main reasons I didn't want to date my best friend, even though he still has a crush on me.

That's kinda the idea. Some cons have speed dating and such. Plus you're more likely to find someone who shares your interests.

I guess it makes sense, though I myself don't feel comfortable with that.  Then again I barely know anything about dating.
