It's not the strumming that hurts. I can strum and pick all day long and it's better if you learn to strum with your fingers. It's holding down the strings!This, so much this.
I want to learn bass, too, but my sister-in-law only has a guitar, so I'm learning on an acoustic guitar. I'm having some difficulty with the chords, getting my fingers to cooperate, but it's getting easier the more I practice the same few chords. Hell on your fingertips, though. Utter hell.It truly is.
