I thought all the characters were confirmed to be clones...

If I heard that, I forgot...Actually, I'm sure I would've remembered flying into a profanity-laden rage if that were the case.

Roll Light and Garnet til Alexandros XVII enjoy a bubble bath together; I did my best not to make this seem exploitative even though it was drawn on a PORNKAKI i am made of stupid

Relax, Roll; it could've gotten in your eyes. D:

I was more disappointed that no extra-game characters or designs were allowed, myself; no Zodiac 'Bots or badass Ruby-Spears MM. :(

I forgot to submit this last year and now it's in the wrong damn folder because [tornado fang] it Nov. 17th is close enough to 2011.

urgh.

I really hope that RMO Protoman will be the original Proto and not another goddamned clone. Unless I forgot something and one of those was confirmed.

And now for something that's not in the wrong folder. Not that I have a 2011 folder yet.

Rock and Torin (a.k.a. fanon!Copy-RS-MM) are both shirtless; one is noticeably more ripped that the other.

Mentally gloat while you can, Torin; you've still got a womanly waist.

*Shanna-The-Hedgehog didn't approve of the Roll mug/puzzle being offered by Kotobukiya (both items use the same illustration), so I tried making a Megaman version. (Ruby-Spears Roll wasn't among the gals in the original illustration, sadly; it's just that regular Mega and MM8 cutscenes Mega are too similar)

I was told that my version isn't borderline rule 34 fuel, thankfully.

I submitted something.

It probably won't make it in.

~ZarelTheWindDragon requested that I draw Jon Tailbain getting (harmlessly) yanked in half by Lucian (the Lugia fellow--his gloves allow him to do that) and back-dropped.

That does not look like a back-drop, I'll bet.

Rockman Series / Re: Was Dr. Light the real evil in the series?
« on: January 17, 2011, 08:53:41 PM »
At least it's not "Dr. Light is evil because the placement of those armour capsules forces the player to work for them!"

What the first post was trying to say, I think, is that many of the problems that sprang up post-Classic wouldn't have been an issue had Dr. Light had Dr. Wily executed. But, I don't think that Dr. Light would be able to live with that decision, which honestly doesn't really scream "evil" to me (since he's not the kind of person who would want Wily alive for his own gain).

Unless you're Rock, of course.

Had an urge to draw him and another fellow in British school uniforms; however, there's so many (especially in my reference--a kids' book from the 90s that takes a sarcastic look at various types of students and teachers, among other things) that I was afraid I might give them the wrong one. So I went with the one depicted on the cover and hoped I didn't flub it.

The other fellow is the Ame-Comi version of Robin, by the way (Ame-Comi being a series of statues from DC Direct. This Robin is a girl, and you would only know that by looking at her statue.)

Quote
Some of you may be familiar with DC's "Ame-Comi" series of PCV statues. I've seen at least one fan whine that they were, with two exceptions, "made of fail". I have to disagree, but that's not the point.

The point is that all the designs seen here are from those statues.

As far as I know, no alternate backstories were written for these versions of the characters, so until someone corrects me, I feel free to make [parasitic bomb] up.

Isamu knew that he wanted to be a hero ever since he was old enough to have a memory longer than that of a goldfish's. The problem was, he didn't know what kind--until studying the criminal mind. Bad guys in Isamu's day no longer feared the police, or indeed any kind of authority, and thus were becoming more daring, more violent. Someone had to rectify this before things got completely out of hand.

Isamu went into hiding for a year; when he re-emerged, it would be as the Batman.

-

Yuuki would have a run-in with Batman no long after. She wasn't quite a street punk, but she didn't seem to have a family, either--just wandered from place to place. One night, Batman intercepted some thugs, and Yuuki simply hopped into the fray, helping him clean the floor with them.

Batman tried to dissuade her from following him, pointing out that not all of his encounters would be as easy to handle as that one--but follow him she did. Her determination would eventually earn her the position of Bats's partner, Robin--and a permanent place to stay.

* I was going to include the Joker, but he didn't have an Ame-Comi counterpart--unless Duela is supposed to count.

* Robin, Ivy, and Catwoman aren't wearing pants. :(

Quote
Stupid title is stupid.

Bruce Wayne and his young ward, Richard Grayson, were bitten by the vampire they were trying to defend their town from; however, the vamp didn't turn either of them completely, instead challenging them to a game--defeat him, and his town would be spared. Lose, and Lord Dracula would have many, many new recruits in short order.

What this vampire didn't know was that Bruce and Richard were clever bastards, and the onset of damphirism--usually overwhelming to anyone not born with it--would do little to hinder them.

Oh, and that vampire was the Joker. Surprise, surprise.

* Bruce's clothes were based off of Drac's, with some BaR Batgirl thrown in (mostly the boots. In fact, almost entirely the boots); the Batarangs were also taken from BaR.

* Robin's design was harder to get down than Bruce's, since I didn't want to just retread one of his older costumes; I went with something based off of DXC Maria in the end.

A bit of wishful thinking there, I think.  Especially since we already got the "be careful what you wish for" lesson in localization with X6's Maverick names.  Not that I minded, but much bitching and eyebrow-raising went on with the rest of the internets.

Sigh. :( I have to remember that this is the Megaman fandom.

A.K.A. "RADIX Forgot How To Make Watercolours Not Look Like Crap". (Well, they don't look that great to me on the hard copy. Didn't help that I used the wrong type of paper)

This group shot took a few days and nights; it's a weird mash-up of the DCAU and DCU, plus MMRS. (Obviously not all of the allies are present; Dick Grayson's presence would mean including ALL OF THE GOOD GUYS IN THE DCU)

From left to right, on the ground: The Huntress, Jason Todd, Proto ("The God of Death", a name he appropriated), Trill ("Batboy"), Rock (currently no alternate name that isn't "Megaman"), Robin (Tim), Nightwing, Batman, Catwoman, Spoiler, Cassandra Cain, AzBats, Bat-Girl, Batwoman, and Alfred.

From left to right, in the air: Super-Roll and Kalinka, Supergirl and Batgirl, Superman, Bat-Mite and AzBats's helmet, and Man-Bat.

RANDOM BAT-FACTS:

* This version of DCAU Huntress appeared in the "Batman and Robin Adventures" comic.

* Much as I like the design for Stephanie Brown as Batgirl, I'm still uneasy over the way Cassandra Cain was booted from the role. Anyone who knows the details of what I'm talking about will know why this is relevant.

* The design for Bat-Girl (not Batgirl) is my own, albeit heavily influenced by the original. Bat-Girl, alias Bette Kane, was the original Batwoman's niece, and designated female love interest of Robin; she would later appear as Flamebird.

* Anyone else think that Jason Todd and Proto would become friends rather quickly?

* When I showed this (WIP at the time) to my parents, they both agreed that Supergirl carrying Batgirl had some lesbian overtones. Apparently girls can't carry each other like that and have it be platonic. :/

* Trill being "Batboy" was thrown in as a joke. An uncomfortable joke, since there's at least one Bat-fic in the "horribifuckus" category containing a Batboy...who's the son of Batman and femme-Robin...I think. At any rate, he'd probably just play with Robin when there's no crimes that need busting.

* The blacks/greys were done with watercolour pens. They look much better than the other colours.

I open everything that's not a duplicate, myself.

So I went back; turns out I could transfer the files. Unfortunately, my brilliant plan to mass-screencap the Bat-Center with AnimGet was thwarted by an illegal operation, so...DOS Box? Maybe.

Oh, and when I said "LSD-coloured garbage", I wasn't kidding.

(Second pic is cropped, and is one of the results of the "Connect the Dots" minigame)

Three more:

Another cropped image, this time from the "Paint by Numbers" game. Pixels fare much better, but their colours, like the above two pics, are still all off.

Attempted fixing of the above. The colours are probably still off (my memory is [parasitic bomb]), but it at least looks better than what's immediately above it.

Two of the startup icons, for the hell of it.

Now--is there any way to fix those first two images that isn't "1000 hours in MS Paint" or "get DOS Box installed on Vista and emulate the game, Gonzo you lazy hack"? (I may try to do the latter, but my machine doesn't like running most programs)

Old game on new system.
Does the game run in 256-colour or something?

Pretty sure it does.

Actually, I tried screencapping on Windows 98 (XP disc drive is borked and Vista is too far ahead); I was told that its Print Screen Key wasn't very good.

So printscreen didnt work either?

That's what I used. (Oddly, it works fine with Kidpix. Maybe that's because there's almost no anti-aliasing)

No idea, but I'll bet they'd be worse than the toughest bosses in both the MM and LoZ series. XD

Messed around in Kidpix again; came up with this. I think I messed up Batman's ear. And Robin's face. :/

Scraps.

Badly-drawn Sora and Kairi.
Badly-drawn Samus.
Badly-drawn Peach and Daisy.

Here's one thing I played as a little kid.

Unfortunately, trying to take screenshots of the game proper (both images were taken from folders viewable before starting the game) not only resulted in LSD-coloured garbage, but the results couldn't be transferred elsewhere (apparently the images are corrupt). Which is a shame, since there's some nice (albeit pixel-y) art there.

OH GOD I SHOULD'VE DRAWN THIS FOREVER AGO.

~GaiaX2 and I created this character in dA's chatroom. Deen is a Sonic-ized Lion's Mane Jellyfish--not that anyone can tell, because that looks nothing like one of those toxic bastards.

It's been so long that I've forgotten this fellow's gender, if it was ever mentioned. :/ (That's a replica of GaiaX2's helmet on that necklace, by the way)

Wanted to emulate the official art for the Etrian Odyssey series without the moe; this resulted. Link (gunner), Rock (medic), and Robin (ninja) head off to...whack the Cucco Revenge Squad, I guess.

Fun fact: There is at least one official Ninja Robin in existence--one of the figures in the B:TAS/AoBaR toy line. Of course, that's Dick and not Alec Grayson.

Because, you know, Aero being the Japanese name and four letters long makes it superior.  Obviously.  >.>

Damn purists. >.>

The only good thing I see in this? If the English fanbase continues to reject all localization changes, there'll at least be enough consistency between the two versions to make debates easier, and there won't be as much arguing over terms.

Hopefully.

Except it's rather belated.

From left to right: Proto in his non-Robin costume, Bats, Rock, Claire, and Kate. They're all coloured trippily because I was trying to emulate the lighting seen in one of *lizsama's latest pics.

I have no idea what to file this under. :/

On the left is a pic of Tim Drake and Van Light, coloured with watercolour pens. To the right is the same pic with less grayscale.

Because I cannot do math, I dunno what age Tim would actually be once Van donned the armour.

Also, let's just pretend that [SPOILERS FOR BATMAN BEYOND: RETURN OF THE JOKER] Tim was rescued before he could be brutally mind-raped. [/SPOILERS]

Except I'm pretty sure that if he drew them, they wouldn't look like this. Well, it does say "attempted".

When put that way...I guess it makes sense, then. (Though IIRC the DBZ games did the same thing, and its MMO didn't resort to cloning)

Still, I have to wonder if they could've justified mass cloning WITHOUT killing everyone (Navigators possibly included). Maybe the heroes realized that things had gotten so bad that simply one of each of them wasn't enough? Maybe their armour was mass-produced? Instead--well, at this point I'd just be a broken record.

So DC has (or had) this imprint called Tangent Comics (I think) wherein the heroes and villains are so radically different from their DCU counterparts that merely shunting them into Elseworlds, their regular AU series, wasn't enough. (For one, the Flash is a teenage pop-star and the Joker is a vigilante hero--and both are female)

Naturally, I wondered what Mega and Proto's Earth-9 (Tangent) counterparts might be like.

Megaman's real name is Claire Ives--who, obviously, is not a man at all, but merely pretends to be. Through an unknown event, she gained the power to fly--all she can really do right now, though, is float. Blame lack of practice. Claire wanted to become a superhero, but her ambitions were shattered by their outlaw; rather than go underground and risk capture, she simply hung up her costume and called it a day...and then she was transported to the Earth of another Megaman.

Her friend Protoman, real name Ray Landon, was taken with her. Ray was tricked into becoming a guinea pig for some cyberneticists, who converted his left arm into one of metal. In a fit of reality, the police arrested every last one of them, and as compensation, Ray received all the money used to fund the project. That was all well and good, but of course the damage was already done. Despondent, he found a buddy in Claire Ives, whose dreams had been shattered recently.

While Claire would hit it off rather well with Rock (albeit one-sidedly; he's not sure what to make of her), Ray and the other Protoman...didn't.

First things first--Kht'wrn. I wanted to keep aliens out of MMRS for the longest time (not just because aliens are such a big part of NINE), but eventually, wondered if I could bring one in without it being too disruptive. After all--Lion Men run rampant.

So while Kht'wrn (or Kate, as Rock calls her) is an oddity in this universe, she's not really that odd in comparison to everything else that's happened.

(The way Rock met her: He, Proto, and Roll got sent up to investigate the strange behaviour of most of the people living on this space station. After things start going to hell, Kate telepathically begs Rock to finish this conflict before it REALLY gets bad. I dunno if I'd ever write it, but I'm withholding spoilers anyway)

Now, these "ancient astronauts" theories. Basically, they claim that everything in history that isn't easily explainable is "ALIENS!!!1!!1!" This includes culture, mostly that of non-whites. These theories are incredibly insulting not only to them, but as humanity as a whole. No, that guy couldn't have merely been brilliant enough to come up with a system of mathematics, it had to have been ALIENS!!!1!!1!!one!!!1!

Rock's reaction to Kate's suggestion is the less cynical explanation for why Christianity doesn't get reduced to ALIENS!!1!!!!eleven1!!. (The cynical explanation, of course, is that OBVIOUSLY those white guys came up with that all by themselves.)

And the History Channel is apparently doing a marathon of "it was all ALIENS!!1!, not human culture and ingenuity!" Arg.

Why would that be surprising?  Who in all of RMO have we confirmed ISN'T a clone?  Even the navigators are questionable considering that Iris is among them (and really, who here buys Signas, Alia, and Layer outliving X and Zero?).

Not surprising, just depressing.

I really, really hope that they can do something impressive with all these clones, and that they didn't go with that angle just because it'd mean not bothering with an extensive character creation system.

Putting arguments over specific continuity details aside, can't it be assumed that the URA use some method similar to the UCA in order to bring back otherwise deceased Irregular Repliroids and Humaroids?

It could be assumed, but then it'd mean MORE CLONES. D:

Well, Sigma now appears to be one of the antagonistic forces in Rockman Online.  So does that change anyone's view of this project's place in the canon?  After all, Lumine stated categorically in X8 that Sigma would be gone for good.  He's clearly not gone for good in this game.  Any educated thoughts?

Either that's not really Sigma, Lumine was wrong, or any chance of RO fitting into MMX continuity is still nil.
