To me, it seems like Capcom has no real understanding of how to make profits. DLC is a major thing nowadays, for better or worse, but Capcom still thinks that they can continue to sequel-stagnate (as TV Tropes puts it) and rake in just as much money as they did before. (Maybe; I'm not sure about sales figures for every iteration of SF2)

And maybe I'm just incredibly bitter, but I have to wonder if the earthquake really did force them to make UMvC3, or if it was just a convenient excuse. If it's the latter, then it's unlikely they'll ever change.

Do the other navigators get a holiday suit as well?

Yep.

While more questions have been answered (not yet translated), they all seem to be just as vague as before.

Also, Capcom announced recently that they want to have as little to do with Mega Man as possible--due to Keiji Inafune.

Wait what where? Seriously?

According to this, RMO will incorporate "contents and scenarios" from every MM series, not just Classic and X/MMXCM.

Very minor, but there's a new Navigator, Irene! Apparently, she'll be the one overseeing the players' progress; hopefully, we'll get her non-Christmas armour/colour scheme soon.

Drawn a couple of days ago; not yet coloured (I want to wait and see if anyone at the TMMN oekaki wants to do that).

Rock, get away from your brother before he lands both of you in the hospital again.

...some anniversary.

2011 started off fine, but swiftly became a series of bitter disappointments and empty promises. Regardless, we're not going to give up on or forget Rock so easily.

Submitted this to Pixiv first; like many things I upload there, it seemed to be ignored. :/

I'm sure Ocarina would like to convince Samba to give up on the whole "Megaman Killer" thing, but that's not happening any time soon.

Rock can't copy Mechaniloid data, so this Cross is purely hypothetical...and good thing, too. Put some contacts in, Rock. D:

The bottom half somehow became mostly older characters of mine (along with other people's dudes).

* My old ('04-'06) grimdark stuff was...bleagh. (Though I don't think anyone dressed like Roll)

* Can you tell which top-of-the-page doodles were made when I wasn't feeling all that great?

* I dunno if I realized back in '09 that Gustwoman's helmet resembles my helmetless Gutsman.

* I swear someone else gave Ringman dark blue hair before...

* Would Seraphwoman and the Pearl Knight get along, or would she decide that he's evil just because he works with Megaman? If I were Liz, I could answer that.

* I mentioned that Diman, Redman, and the non-Capcom MM9 guys weren't my first MM characters...and now that I wrote that bit next to Inspector Bridge and Wheel, I remembered that the Bombers came first, way back in middle school, and they're nowhere on this page. WHOOPS.

Inspector Bridge (first name started with a D...think it was "Damien") is a robot detective who mostly works with homicide cases (by his choice or not); he and Wheel (his support unit) got a major overhaul so that they wouldn't resemble Gil, Roslyn, or any of my black-haired helmetless RM designs (he and his Navi counterpart had black hair).

* Speaking of Navi counterparts, next up is Spectrum (Semaphore was created much more recently). The original Spectrum.EXE had a terrifyingly bad design, and could easily pass for an RM--so I made her an RM (sorta). Wound up borrowing Splashy's helmet shape.

As for Spectrum's back story...she and Semaphore control lights? /hasn't come up with anything decent yet

* New Age is, well, new. He's an associate of Duo's (as in, the two both work for the Intergalactic Police and occasionally grunt at each other) who, like Requiem, doesn't seem to have a real lower body.

* Kusaragi Keene, one of my few human MM characters, originally dressed more stripperiffic-y; she posed as an elementary school teacher, with her real job being "thief". Like Bridge, she had a Navi counterpart (why wasn't she a NetOp? No clue); Keene.EXE would brainwash other Navis into working at her cyber-library and trap other Navis in-between the shelves (not as books).

* Kate Ito (not to be confused with Kht'wrn's nickname), if that's her exact name, was an intrepid reporter (whose first bit of art was a lousy sprite edit). She probably didn't always have that giant cowlick on the back of her head.

* Finally got around to making Baroque less blatantly a pseudo-clone of Megaman (and giving him some design parallels with his buddy); Verismo's design didn't change much.

* Tremolo got more yellow and less random panels.

* Addolorato and Tenuto received a minor overhaul. (IIRC, Tenuto actually killed his "partner" at the end of that unwritten arc)

* I don't think I've ever uploaded any pictures of Anthem prior to this. He was a clone of Proto (based on Proto's Limited form, though without the loyalty to a Mother Brain wannabe), and...that's about all I can remember of his back-story.

Current Anthem probably left Wily after the real Proto pointed out that Wily wasn't likely to consider him as anything more than a copy.

* Unlike in Dark Woods Circus, Rock and Roll didn't suffer body horror; they're trying to investigate a very Dark Woods-like circus, most likely.

* Don't worry, Proto, you can have Rock back in a second. And then be glared at for continuing to insist that Rock is "yours".

Thinking of doing something else for the next page, like that comic; just can't think of what right now.

* I'd tried Castlevania-izing Batman's rogues gallery earlier this year, but wasn't happy with anyone but one of his allies (Batgirl). Then I saw some of Harley's Arkham City concept art and swiped it for her CV self. I'm horrible.

* Better hop to it, Proto.

* Tried redesigning Ghostman a bit. He's meant to be creepy, not...whatever that previous design was.

* This page nearly got taken over by Cross redesigns (most drastically Magic Cross; the previous one was a terrible, awkward mess); Crash and Pirate are new.

There's also some for Roll, even though canonically (fanonically?) she doesn't have the Cross system. Three of them are outfits from MMPU.

* Would've included NAdM-Rock there if I knew how (remove his helmet? NAdM-Roll is more easily identifiable...).

* Gemini's (not Geminiman's) purple hair was my own addition.

* Briefly considered having Ophiuchus be a legitimate Zodiac/Constellation Droid, but that'd require a total rewrite of her back story (doubt the ZCs would want anything more to do with Wily after what he did).

* Well, you never once threatened to stake him, Proto, so...

Guess what? There's more than one idiot on PRC blindly defending the port!

(click to show/hide)

I'm sorry if it looks like I'm trying to start a proxy argument, but I think that second quote perfectly captures the "be grateful for getting shafted or you're a whiny self-entitled prick" mentality that's come up recently. Nobody's allowed to be angry AT ALL, for ANY REASON, and it's just as frustrating as Capcom's empty promises and blatant contradictions.

My only comfort would be that Sven wouldn't call us self-entitled over this...but knowing that he was recently a dick to the MM fans on more than one occasion, it's only a matter of time.

631
That or he's just really in denial.

Possibly. I looked at his "review" of the port more closely (I was addressing someone else and he butted in and told me to grow up):

(click to show/hide)

tl;dr No mention of its legitimate problems (well, apart from your fingers occasionally sliding off the screen), just blind gushing.

632
So concerning this port, and some comments at TMMN and PRC, I ask you: How does not wanting to settle for half-assed "efforts" make us ungrateful, entitled twats?

(Though I suspect that one guy who told me to "grow up" and take what gets flung at me did so primarily because I DARED to have a different opinion.)

633
Here's LBD's review on SlideToPlay. Basically, it's playable, but definitely doesn't live up to the original game.

634
There's a chance it might control well...but I'm not counting on it.

635
And to think I was trying to remain optimistic about it.

Now all they need to do is blame its possible financial failure on the fans.

...I know it's highly unlikely, but seriously, this is one half of that scenario that I was assured wouldn't happen. And at a time like this? I'm starting to think I might've jinxed it. :(

Dilemma: while perpetually-helmetless female RM designs sorta bug me, I just can't imagine Jumpgirl with a helmet. It's not because she never had one to begin with; Hologirl recently got a helmet (though IIRC that was so she wouldn't always look so much like Kalinka).

One day Jumpy's gonna crack her skull open on the ceiling.

* I keep saying that too many MM purists like to shoehorn all the continuities into each other, but I'm actually not sure if they'd go this far--I mean, surely they'd know that Battle Network is an entirely different series.

...really, I just wanted to see how it'd look. :/ L to R: Cap. N Cut(s)man, Elecman.EXE, RS-Iceman, Ishikawa-Bombman, Ariga-Fireman, and NP-Gutsman.

* For whatever reason, Emily (not her actual name?) kinda reminds me of something out of Scott Pilgrim. That, or I just wanted an excuse to put semi-hipster clothes on her.

* Dunno if RS-Roll's hairstyle really fits Bulma.

* DBZ-Proto was probably just making sure that Dragon Ball was legitimate. I know that sounds terrible when he's got a scantily-clad elf lady leaning on him.

* Back in '07, I had a design for armoured Kalinka; nowadays, armoured humans don't really float my boat, because there's a ton of Sue potential there, but it seems alright for Kalinka.

* Artemis's design looks more appropriate for ZERO or ZX. :/

* I'd actually forgotten that the Dreamcast was a sixth-gen console until I looked it up. As someone whose first console was a Dreamcast, that's pathetic.

* Vampire Rock doesn't suffer from the weaknesses of vampirism, but he doesn't get to do any cool vampire stuff either. So really, he's just got some amber contact lenses and a prominent fang.

* Oh Roll, that hairstyle and outfit are both so 70s...probably because I swiped them from a Google Image search.

639
I keep thinking we were going to get the merch anyway. :/

I refuse to believe anything the PR guys say (remember Universe?) until CoJ can actually prove it. And as someone on TMMN pointed out, "key brand" could mean anything--for all we know, they want to offload the series on someone else (as much as I'd like it to be Comcept, they refused to let them resume MML3) because the merch and comic might not be making them enough.

Hell, even a theoretical cartoon might not make them enough money in a short enough amount of time; I don't know enough about business to know if Capcom's expectations are realistic or not, but they--and the fact that it took the entire MM series three years to make another million bucks--worry me.

What I think might happen is that CoJ will be so badly "safe mode"-locked that they won't realize how deeply entrenched in the shitter they are until it's too late. Maybe they'll sell off all their underused/stagnant IPs in an attempt to save themselves; whether or not they understand exactly why they're about to go under...I wouldn't count on it.

About making the eraser pixelly, you have to set its mode (on the upper part, it shows up when you select the tool) to pencil, that would do the trick.

Not sure if it's possible in Elements, but thanks for the tip. :)

Lots of Kirby this time around.

* That Tanooki comes from a flash game of PETA's website. All I'll say is, given the nature of the game itself (a regular Mario level strained through the filter of your worst Mortal Kombat-induced nightmares), it's a miracle that Mario didn't get stomped into paste.

* Alexander there will never be as cool as Meta Knight. :/

* I think I drew Divine Kirby before, in high school (wing-feet and everything).

* If there's ever an RS-MM/Scooby-Doo crossover...I'd like to see Proto work with Velma at least once, despite that doodle, just for the hilarity of them dropping their spectacles and grabbing each others' instead (which is totally not ripping off that Johnny Bravo/Scooby-Doo crossover).

* The Slice n' Splice(?) is a monster from the Kirby anime that splits people into two beings, male and female (regardless of their original gender). So of course, poor Rock ran afoul of him.

* I think RS-Rock would only suggest that if he was REALLY fed up with the guys in rubber suits.

* "The GBC games" refers to the Bomberman GBC entries; I remember one ad for them mentioning that you could use your TV remote (made in 2000 or earlier, I'd imagine) to unlock stuff, but that info was nowhere to be found on the 'net (at least, nowhere I looked).

* On second thought, maybe I should've made Roll's armour green and her scarf purple, or something, because right now it just looks like she escaped from some rainbow circus in the future. /yahtzee

* Quentin is supposed to be very scary (has some xeno blood in her, after all). Here, she just looks smug. (About the xenos. I'll have to explain later, when I'm not so tired)

* Despite what it looks like, Blues and Asuka are supposed to be an item...or something. That dream I had that mentioned that also made Asuka into some infernal cannibal (and Kaworou into a blond bespectacled tykebomb) and that Blues only stayed with her because he was batshit insane at that point.

Wait, what's Robin doing here if this is "Random ALL-STARS"? Hell, why is he the only comic character among a bunch of VG guys? ("The Batman series had a lot of video games" is the obvious, non-RADIX-has-a-preference-for-Robin answer) And it's not really that random, either. :/

Tried to imitate one colouring method, failed, and just did my own thing, which is probably why this took so long. I can't even remember when I started. x.x

I had Zelda on mind when I started out.

* Speaking of whom, three of those designs in that top row of Zeldas are fanon; can you guess which?

* I would've done the same thing for Megawoman/girl, but sadly, I couldn't find too many designs that were just "Megaman with boobs".

* I dunno why my fanon game-Roll ended up enjoying making Rock cross-dress.

* Started off by giving Megawoman pigtails, then gave the other girls (and Kaitlin) hairstyles they aren't usually seen with. (Though Splashy has no official hairstyle yet, so I could've given her anything)

* I had some designs for KH-Link and Zelda lying around that I never scanned (Zelda's colour scheme wasn't even finished). Oops.

* After discussing it with Gauntlet--yeah, Proto seems rather lazy, but he did do a lot more prior to 9/10 than I gave him credit for.

* ~lalalei2001 and I discussed RS-Rock and Proto having middle names; we settled on "Silas" and "Ian", respectively.

* Pearl Knight was a character I'd thought of after reading TV Tropes's "Moral Substitute" page (specifically, Pearl Knight was the protagonist of a theoretical MS to Megaman; name came from one of the things Holy got changed to in early Final Fantasy localizations). He's a very nice guy, just don't go around abusing the faith (that is, be a batshit insane pseudo-believer) around him.

* Started playing Yoshi's Island DS again.

* I usually don't bother with X-era designs for the RMs these days, since I never felt I could come up with anything interesting (and I don't think I'll use RMO's designs, since they don't seem to be from 21XX). X-era Ice was just something that occurred to me while my previous hard drive was crapping out; I was so tired when I drew that, I forgot to colour or shade that stripe down his middle. (Design is based on Chill Penguin's, somewhat)

I saw a more thorough look at this subject somewhere the name of which eludes me at the moment.  It went into detail about the similarities between this promo episode and the final cartoon; ultimately, the art style was really the only major thing they altered.  The rest of it was largely the same.

It might be this, but it compares RS-MM with Upon a Star, not the promo.
