I somehow thought that those CDs would be sold together. Great, there goes my enthusiasm. (Still better than the E-Can, at least--right?)

And of course, there are assholes who think we should be happy with whatever Capcom puts out, no matter how overpriced and/or half-assed--one person went so far as to tell everyone that we're not getting any more games and that we need to "get over [ourselves]" and quit "whining"--and that we somehow don't want any more MM games because we won't blindly buy this stuff.

I don't know if they or Capcom are more infuriating.

I drew this for two reasons--in response an argument I saw elsewhere, and to briefly discuss my old Sonic AU.

One, the argument (or just comment, really) was that original art/writing is the only way to grow as an artist/writer. My rejection is thus: from '02 to around '06, my concepts (and often art), whether fan or original, were either unbearably wangsty or painfully unfunny. It wasn't until my worldview changed and I stopped being a total misanthrope did I try to expand beyond "everything sucks and people are bastards". That's part of the reason why Sonic doesn't dress like pre-redesign Scourge anymore.

Second...my old Sonic AU wasn't so much an AU as it was a bunch of concepts and a constantly-changing timeline, but it SUCKED. The Neo Freedom Fighters remained with Sonic even though he was the biggest [dark hold] not on Eggman's side--and the NFF weren't exactly nice guys, either. They'd been fighting Eggman's forces ever since they were kids with almost no ground gained, because evil is all-encompassing and powerful and I may have been ripping off 1984.

New-AU Sonic probably didn't go through that dark and brooding emo phase that old-AU Sonic was constantly in, but he still doesn't appreciate his mom teasing him about it.

(That text within the "speech" bubble is supposed to be "I'm 12 what is this", but lack of space warped it into a prayer to the Elder Gods or something)

RS-Rock doesn't mind dealing with kids, but Hub and N-Rock's argument started grinding his gears VERY quickly.

Interesting (or not) to note: Hub used to be human, RS-Rock was curious about becoming more human once (I imagine that he never went anywhere near that subject again after Petto), and I believe N-Rock had issues with not being a human, even though (like the other three Rocks*) he didn't think or act much differently from one. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

* Well, Rock Prime and co. only act like "real" robots when it's convenient to the plot.

[Many personalities, if] by "many" you mean "three".

My half of a trade with ~Benji-Blacksky;, in which Tempo tries out some personality chips (only two of which would fit the ones he described...oops). Hope it's alright.

I was considering titling this "False Memory Syndrome", but that would require me hearing Parappa's name correctly the first time.

Back in the early '00s, I was in a Toys R' Us that had a demo of Parappa the Rapper 2 going, and I somehow interpreted Parappa's name as "Rappanello"--even more inexplicable when one considers that his actual name is written in the subtitles (the demo was of the first stage). I think it was either X-Play or an old issue of GamePro that corrected me.

Sad thing is, my hearing still isn't as good as I'm told it should be. :/

X7 scans: Cool. :)

MereBytes, that's a nice image, but PLEASE warn people if the place your image is hosted on contains NSFW ads. My goddamned eyes...

504
I'd like to see those X7 scans. :)

It would be hotter if Gutswoman were more muscular ("superhuman robot strength" excuse be damned, though I do like her coattails and the designs of the other ladies).

But it should be more palatable that the first thing it was used for was an album by a guy who loves the series and is a tribute to the music of it rather than an ridiculously expensive collection of music that brings nothing new. :<

Yes. But, speaking of ridiculously expensive: The Street Fighter 25th Anniversary set--

Quote
On top of the games included in the bundle, the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's Set packs in video content like a Blu-ray Street Fighter documentary, Street Fighter IV and Super SFIV anime movies, all episodes of the Street Fighter anime series, and Street Fighter: II The Animated Movie.

--is roughly $150.

The E-Can, which is far less substantial, is $200.

Bastards.

Guys, I'm sorry to bump this thread, but apparently that was indeed the final logo.

The first thing they stamp it on is a soundtrack compilation of the ten main games (no MMnB, World, Soccer, or arcade music) that costs roughly $185. Wonderful.

Still miffed over that "stay out of our anniversary" non-joke, but I hope things turn out well for Seth. And I would not be surprised if Capcom's apathy over Ono's situation had a hand in this.

Oh, and remember how Universe was cancelled not long after the earthquake? I've heard people say that Capcom would never stoop so low as to callously take advantage of the disaster and cancel Universe/make UMvC3 so that they'd look justified in doing so (if that makes any sense)...

but sadly, their treatment of Ono makes me wonder if they even gave anyone time off then.

Ugh, I'm feeling really conflicted. After all that's happened with Capcom recently and that one topic about Ono I honestly didn't want to support Capcom for a while, but god damn it, this is something I need! >___<

Same here, man. ;_; Maybe someone can at least scan the Megaman-related bits for us?

(November 2012...if UDON can release this on time--which I honestly doubt--maybe I could get it for Christmas)

512
Yeah. :(

What time is it? I believe it's SCAN DUMP TIME

First, some RS-MM stuff from Action Figure News & Toy Review.

(The rest of the second page was devoted to Tick miniatures)

Frustratingly, the magazine cover gave no indication that the RS-MM stuff would be a single page (and a fraction of the next) in the very back, and not a feature like I'd hoped. (Was RS-Elecman's name always supposed to be spelled with a K?)

Ad for various GameBoy Color games.

Preview for Megaman Battle Network 1, from Expert Gamer. Lan is referred to as Netto here.

From Handheld Video Games Winter 1999. (On an unrelated note, they had a preview(?) for the Game.com port of CV: Symphony of the Night that said it was "Available Now". I don't think it was ever released.)

EGM preview of Megaman X6. Note how they believed that Zero was dead for good.

Cover 1 of 2 of GameNow's Megaman 15th Anniversary issue. (It seems that Flame's scans have all been moved or deleted...) This seems to be flipped and reshaded MM7 artwork; I don't know if it's official or if the magazine editors made it themselves.

With the exception of the first two, all of the scans came from magazines I'd acquired at HamaCon.

I like all of the Megaman series and was excited for Legends 3. Nowadays I don't know what's more infuriating--Capcom's actions, or those asshats who sneer at and shame the fanbase for daring to care about something.

I think it reflects positively on the fanbase that most of them DIDN'T just magically "get over" MML3's loss two days later and forget what Capcom did. It didn't stop Capcom from pulling any more dick moves, but at least the fans didn't just blindly accept them.

Proto has a lot of issues to work out.

Good thing that Rock, despite his own problems, can support him in times like this.

Quote
Even though I tried to give the kid both of their traits, she's more than likely not their actual child, since Rock's a robot. Still thought it'd be cute (and a good test of my new-ish markers on certain paper; it doesn't bleed much, but it's very streaky).

516
I think the card was chosen at random.

517
I'm on the fence about the validity of the comments screencapped in this post, but...Capcom must burn.

I know the Japanese workplace is unbelievably stressful, but surely someone would've at least tried to investigate Capcom by now?

Ah. :/

* Open Photoshop 3.4
* Begin work on first picture
* Realize that this version of Photoshop doesn't really let you make your lineart transparent via channels (find a different tutorial?)
* Fail to notice recluse on chair until last minute
* Get Dad to take care of it; eventually resume work

One of these events is not like the others.

I can't remember seeing any helmetless Captain N! Megamen that weren't just Capcom-Mega taking his counterpart's place. Debated on what his hair colour'd be, then settled on blonde (in reference to Megagirl).

Cheer up, kid; you're not the one who had a recluse dangerously close to their pants.

Quote
Like everything I colour in Photoshop 3.4, this came out much darker than intended.

'tis brainwashed Volnutt, using his Legends 2 design; I kinda prefer this colour scheme over the one resulting from his L1 armour, to be honest.

Drawn a day or so ago; I still don't really know how to use lineart layers. :/

Quote
I recently became a member of The MLP Arena; since I registered at two in the morning and the mods have to review your request before you can log in, I had time to draw an avatar (I had no pre-existing MLP-related ones).

The colt is Marky the rainbow unicorn from various bits of Lisa Frank art; I tried to shade his horn so that it wouldn't get lost in his mane (which by the way officially has orange in it--or maybe only in his tail --but not in this pic. Oops)

Quote
Drawn right after completing the Dash n' Marky avatar.

From what I understand, My Pretty Pony was released in 1981, and unlike their successors, they were 10-inch monster ponies with hard-to-brush coarse hair. There were only three or four MPPs in the line, and one of them was regular-sized Butterscotch.

I don't know if the one on our left had a name (the other mare's name is apparently Peachy); I'd meant to give her a mane that didn't resemble G4 Applejack's. :/ (What you can't tell from this pic is that Betajack was a blank flank)

Some pencil sketches.

Quote
Actually, there's only two real "felt pen" doodles here (the first two). Everything else is Sargent fine markers; I was only going to briefly test them, but they worked very well on this paper...I still think I'll call these "felt pen doodles", though.

* Redesigned Roll Landon; she hopefully fits the series aesthetic better now.

* Brought on by reading Cirque du Freak.

* It turns out Quakewoman's helmet is mostly green with a stripe of purple that resembles a hairband. I preferred the all-purple look, to be honest...

* Human!Spike was modeled off my human!Spyro, even though dragons work differently in their universes. :/

* So apparently, RS-MM wasn't the first continuity to give Rock a gray under-suit, it was the mainline games. I still draw Rock Prime without the under-suit being visible, though.

* I have two pics of Victory.EXE, both with different designs; I might've picked the previous one here. :/

* Eeprom's vest normally doesn't have any purple on it, but I didn't feel like adding the pattern to the rest of it... (Speaking of, I'm fairly certain that Eeprom's been redesigned by now)

* Oh, and how did Roll.EXE get deleted in that particular fic? Take down several baddies, one of whom was apparently in God Mode himself ("Ultra Bass"), after they wipe the floor with everyone else. I like Roll.EXE, but the author favouritism was rather blatant with this one.

* Spearwoman's design was based on a result for "spear fighter" that I think came from DnD; I winged it on the other two. (I gotta wonder...are boss submissions technically official characters, since Capcom owns them?)

* I remember *Jet-Striker saying that he didn't like his redesign of ~ker-plop's Toxicwoman, but I do; it's reminiscent of MM8's designs, but doesn't pile on unnecessary details (not that the MM8-bots were like that).

* IIRC, I voted for Design C.

* Most Cyber-Elves began life as Reploids, right? (Of course, now that I ask this, I think Koiri and her pals were created, not deaded)

* Speaking of, I dunno if "Cyber" Katana was an elf or not.

* I think I'll be colouring Proto's hair darker from now on (though it's not like my previous set of pens/markers lacked a dark red...).

* I've heard that Osharena Ponies (essentially Japanese MLP) are technically "fakies". They're also the only strain of MLP I know of that are bipedal.

* Unfortunately, this set of markers lacks a shade of really-dark brown that doesn't feel washed-out, so Blues's hair is now the same shade as Rock's.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but is Star Wars Dance really canon in the sense that it happened in-universe (and not merely "LucasArts made/licensed it")? D:

I actually had BoF in mind when I wrote that. I wonder--did Capcom even TRY to understand why BoF V tanked?

and otherwise while simultaneously homogenizing and making so many games similar to hit a general crowd instead of niche audiences.

As much as I hate to say it, catering only/mostly to niche audiences, at least in this console generation, probably won't sustain your company; I think it's a better bet for indie developers. If we saw a more even balance of general and niche, though, that'd be great.

I've said something like this before, but--Capcom seems to only care about Street Fighter and Resident Evil at the moment (maybe Ace Attorney), not realizing that they can't focus exclusively on those games forever. If they completely give up on series after ONE unprofitable entry, and they don't have much luck with other IPs...what then?

522
Quote
Personally, it should be the horse itself, as capcom thinks they're tough [parasitic bomb] with "big name console titles" these days, they have forgotten who they are.

Agreed. Hopefully, if this does indeed to turn out to be Ono's registration letter, he'll be able to find a company that doesn't treat its employees like tools.

Also--I'll admit I don't know exactly how business works, but it seems to me that Capcom doesn't bother to research exactly how some of their games sell poorly, instead chucking the whole series directly into the bin and, in most cases, never looking back.

523
Good Lord--I don't think I can ever get angry at Ono again.

Quote
But I do bet top dollar that its now in the 'dead franchise' category and won't be revived until rebels in the company, like Ono and Inafune before them, takes up the torch and somehow pulls off a miracle.

I have a bad feeling that by the time someone tries to pull off that miracle, Capcom will be filing for Chapter 11. Not that I'd mind after reading this article...
