HMMMMMMM

Anything I need to know on BB's appearance?

Huh... you know, I may have Archetype call Borock-bot 'BB' once he's more comfortable with the Resistance.

(Here's the difference:
You introduced a love interest of your character to establish the reason he's fighting.
(click to show/hide)
If you want I can edit the post to make it a bit more obvious, but I didn't want to make it too obvious to Sinos either. ;))

(Well yeah, I know there are differences.

I don't have a problem with the story itself. It just simply feels odd seeing "Alice, I love you" during a "dream-like state", literally a few hours after I posted mine with near similar dialog.

You don't need to change it. It's fine. I just got some major deja vu.)

His system couldn't identify the voice. [tornado fang]ing get the guts to tell her or I will mentally kick your [parasitic bomb]! Sinos didn't know what to say. He managed to somehow stutter out, on instinct, "I...I love you...Alice..."

(What the hell, you're introducing his lover in your dream sequence too? Come on man. :P)

Is it repetitive?  Well, yes, but if that in itself is considered a criticism then there are probably better places to hang on the internet than a Mega Man community...

Repetition can refer to any aspect in a game.

In this case, I don't see how you can compare Mega Man's "repetition" to PxZ's.

In PxZ, the battle controls are: A, Up/Down+A, Right/Left+A, the team L+R shoulder buttons and Y for special attacks. That's fine.

Now, in order to preform 5 of your moves instead of 4, you have to time each one of these (A, Up+A, Left+A, Right+A) all while making sure the enemy doesn't touch the ground. If successful, you can preform your 5th move (Let's say: Up+A), combined with pressing either/both shoulder button (and of course Y, if you have enough XP). RINSE. AND REPEAT.

Oh, and equipping skills or whatever, which I'm sure is extraordinarily simple. What changes are more powerful, flashier moves. But when all said in done, it's still incredibly repetitive.

Now, you said Mega Man games are repetitive; maybe the classic Mega Man games, when the controls, powers and stage layouts were incredibly simple. But I can't say the same for the rest of the franchise.

And even then, not only are the classic games difficult as [parasitic bomb], you need impeccable precision for a ton of those stages. The basic act of "repetition" dictates you to do a motion or routine over and over again. I guess in some ways, those games are repetitive, but you still have to maneuver and time your actions through the stages, find weaknesses as well as various memory-esque puzzles (disappearing/reappearing platforms). One little slip up, and you're dead. It doesn't hold your hand.

PxZ has you standing in one place, mashing the same series of buttons, timing or otherwise, it doesn't make a difference. There's not much of a challenge.

And if multiple bosses on one map are the only things you have to worry about, then that's not really good game design. You just plow right through the enemies like nothing and suddenly the difficulty skyrockets with Boss "counter-attacks"? Sorry, I can't swallow that.

I'd also submit to you that the Game Over screen isn't a terribly common sight in Fire Emblem either; rather the game's perma-death system (optional in Awakening) mandates perfection.

But see, that's another point against PxZ; apparently it's difficult to even lose a teammate. For Awakening, the only way to get Game Over is if your Avatar or Chrom dies.

So theoretically, you could have the remainder of your soldiers charge into enemy territory and have them killed in a blink of an eye. And you still wouldn't get a Game Over. But depending on the weapons you give them, the experience you've grinded with them and avoiding the enemies that they're vulnerable against, can make all the difference between life and death.

That kind of depth can't be found in PxZ.

You said Awakening's perma-death mandates perfection. Well, if PxZ had a perma-death system, you wouldn't have to worry so much anyway, now would you, Shell?

Back at the Karaoke Bar...

Archetype, fast asleep, finds his past continuing to haunt him.

He shifted and stirred, murmuring the words I'm sorry over and over again.

-- Within his dream --

A woman with rosy skin, light brown hair and hazel-colored eyes peered over what seemed to be Archetype's point of view, with a beautiful night sky behind her and fireflies dancing in the air.

Why didn't you save me? Did you even try? She spoke with a soft, almost eerily calm voice. Slowly she extended her arm out and lightly brushed the sides of his face with two of her fingers. I thought you loved me. I thought you said we'd be together.

What was a beautiful night sky behind her quickly turned into a "sick" orange and red color, and the fireflies burned up as a blazing fire engulfed everything around them. The rose-tinted woman began to twist up her face into what could only be described as sorrow and anger. A tear ran down her cheek, and she repeated in a soft, crackling voice: Why didn't you save me? She narrowed her eyes and looked at him, with what now seemed to be inside an apartment room, suddenly enclosed around them. Fire stretched across the walls and the ceiling. She broke out of her soft demeanor and yelled: Who were you really fighting for?! You never cared about me did you?!

Pieces of ceiling and glassware fell to the ground as the bright fire covered nearly every inch of the room. Crackling wood and debris crashed down and the room was soon filled with dark, choking smoke.

Archetype wanted to call out to her. He felt the nagging vibrations in his throat; the words "I'm sorry" and "I love you" forming in his lips... but he couldn't say it. A tear ran down his face as he reached out to her hand, but she pulled away.

His legs feeling like a ton of bricks, he tried to approach her. The fire continued to get worse every second and the apartment shifted into an ugly gray tone, which now looked like a raging fireplace.

The woman had her back turned to him. He was finally able to yell out "LUNA!!" She slowly turned around, looked directly into his eyes and gave him a light smile. She reached around her neck and took off a silver pendant. She placed it in one hand and reached out her arm for him to take it.

He ran towards her, but seemed to be running in one place, as if he was on a treadmill. The more he ran, the further she appeared from his eyesight. He stretched out his hand "No! Luna, I..." And right before his eyes...

BOOOOOOM!!!

He was now outside the apartment complex, as huge fireballs shot out through the windows. Glass shattering and flying across the street, with heavy smoke growing as tall as the eye can see.

"Luna... Lu...na..." Archetype fell to his knees and covered his face. He knelt there, in front of the building, with only the sound of crackling wood and roaring flames devouring the surrounding area.

That is, until he heard a single, child-like voice saying "Is... is Luna really..." The child couldn't finish her sentence. Archetype looked over at the voice beside him. Startled, he quickly jumped and backed away a few inches from the child.

He spoke, with his voice shaking a bit, "Who are you?" What he saw distracted him from the fire just a few feet away from him. A mysterious white figure in the shape of a small child. There were no identifying features like a face, hair, nails or even skin. Even the gender was a mystery. The figure was completely white, with literally nothing else to describe. Well, nothing else except the voice, which sounded like a young girl.

The figure said nothing else and suddenly ran off until it disappeared from his vision. When he looked back to the building, it was no longer there. Instead, supply bags were in its place; the ones he would later use on his journey to find himself. With one final "I'm sorry", he walked over to the bags and reached over to pick them up.

However, once he grabbed one of the handles on the bags, he abruptly woke up from his deep slumber. *pant* *pant* *pant* Archetype shot up from the floor he was laying on in a serious sweat. He held his head and murmured "Great... that [tornado fang]ing dream again" He rubbed his neck, which was sore from sleeping on the ground all night. "Or should I say nightmare..."

He checked the room's clock that was beside the nightstand and he read aloud "4:39"

With a sigh, he crawled into bed and looked up at the ceiling, reminding him of the ceiling of the apartment complex Luna was in. He stared at it for a few minutes until he finally said "You're not crumbling down... not if I have anything to say about it"

And with that he turned over on his side, and tried to get some more rest.

It never ends with you.

Its either Phi or Archetype.

You should set it up to switch them every week.

Well, I'm not terribly fond of 'Superdee' anymore.

Besides, I would've stuck with Phi if not for Backwards week. Once that's over, I'll prolly go back to Phi. It's short and sweet.
