(Due to the timeskip, it looks like I'll have to do something different than what I had in mind for The Judge. You know, him playing Pokemon and all.)

Keco non-nonchalantly walked through the horde of rabid mets, shooting them with the gun so lovingly engraved 'SILVER' as she walked past them.

(We're not fighting Mets, anymore. We're fighting Zero Joes.)

"A saber fight, huh?" Arche spun his katanas around. "Just what I needed."

Phi walked up to Archetype and decided to fight right alongside him.

"So, how's that resonating thing working out for you?" He asked her, while keeping his focus on the encroaching Joes.

"Surprising well, actually. I think I can handle m- Nnnghhghhh..." Phi groaned out in pain and grabbed the side of her ribs. "[tornado fang], what the hell was that...?"

Arche placed his hand on her shoulder, "Hey, what's wrong? You all right?"

"I-I think so. There was an intense pain shooting in my body just now. It passed, but..." She stated with a faint trembling voice.

He stepped closer, "Don't push yourself. Th-"

"I'm fine, Arche. Really." She retorted coarsely and aimed her crossbow at the Joes.

She's just leaning back and forth; certainly not dancing. At least move her arms.

I really like how these came out. The promo art is nice, too.

I need friends like them. They're high in this scene (and throughout the entire series), but still good friends. 8D

"[parasitic bomb], my body is starting to heat up already..." Phi said to herself. "Arche and I must not have a strong enough resonance. Screw it, it doesn't matter. I can handle a little heat." Swiftly and efficiently, she nailed each and every single Met in her view.

"Glad I made the right choice with this weapon." She turned toward Arche and shouted, "Hey, you feeling any different?"

"I don't know. I mean, I don't really feel any different." He yelled back.

"Hmm, perhaps it's because you're already skilled in battle. The change isn't readily apparent for you quite yet, it would appear."

Phi dashed toward a Met and spin-kicked it into a wall.

"H-holy hell, was that me? This must've lessened the nagging sensation of fear and doubt of attempting something new. Yet it oddly felt like... I've done it before." Phi regained her composure and continued to fight.

Apparently she's a gorgon/medusa/whatever.

Medusa is a name, not a type of creature. The type of creature (of which Medusa is classified under) is called "Gorgon".

Phi stood by the van and began to lose her patience.

"Heh, look at me, standing here helplessly while they're actually doing something useful." She muttered to herself and impatiently knocked her foot against the van.

She stared up at the sky when she suddenly got an idea.

"Wait, that wouldn't work... would it?" She pondered to herself, "The Morphogenetic Field, our connection... this might just be crazy enough to work."

Phi placed her left palm on her heart and three fingers on her forehead.

Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale... She closed her eyes and slowly breathed in and out from her nose.

After about a minute, all the noise around her seemed to dull out and disappear, from her perspective.

She now heard nothing except for her own heartbeat. She slowly began to speak, "Cerebrum vel fantasia. Intellectus, cogitativa vel ratio. Aestimativa vel imaginativa."

Phi began to feel herself become lighter. Suddenly, Arche began to feel an odd sensation and his head started to throb.

"W-what the hell is going on?" He rubbed his head.

We're resonating. A voice spoke to Arche.

"Phi? Is that you? What do mean, 'resonating'?" He asked.

I told you before; we who can access the Morphogenetic Field can resonate with one another. Basically meaning we can enhance our power, based on how close our signal is. The signal being what ties us to this field.

"So, you're feeding off of my energy?" Arche wondered.

Not exactly. It's more like... sharing. Right now, I'm trying something I have never done before.

"And what's that?"

Unlocking my potential, both intellectually and physically, that is normally held back by the restrictions of the human brain. I'm releasing some of those restrictions... It seems to be working.

"Will this... thing, whatever it is, unlock my restrictions, as well?" He asked

No. However, some of the energy I gain will be shared with you... Alright, I think it's time.

"W-wait, Phi!" He called out to her.

Phi opened her eyes and gazed around her. She felt slightly dizzy; probably a side-effect, she thought.

She took aim with her crossbow once again.

*FWIIIIP*

The arrow impaled two Mets in the distance.

"Huh, well would you look at that." Phi grinned.

"I think these blades feel a bit lighter than the last pair..." He thought to himself as he continued to mow down Rabid Mets.

"And they certainly cut a lot better. I should've gotten new katanas months ago."

Phi gazed at the Met horde ahead.

She looked at her crossbow and then to Arche, "I've never used a crossbow before, not to mention I've never been in a fight, period."

"Yeah, you'd need practice with one first... for now, stay back at the van. I'll handle this." Arche was about to run toward the horde when Phi grabbed his arm.

"But," She began to say as she readied her crossbow, "now would be a perfect time, don't you think?"

*FWIIING*

An arrow shot out from the crossbow... and zipped right past a mettaur.

"... Riiiight, well, I'll leave you to it, then." Arche lightly quipped.

"Hey! It's my first time, give me a break!" She loaded another arrow and shot it, only for it to miss again. "Jesus Christ! Seriously?!"

"Look, don't sweat it. I'll handle it from here," Arche readied his newly bought katana blades and unsheathed them.

"Let's see what these beauties can really do..." He charged towards some stray mets.

One by one, he sliced and diced his way through. "Huh, it'll take some time to get used to these," He said as he adjusted his grip, "but I have all the time in the world."

He continued to take out more mets.

My best guess is that this happened due to a heart condition, because from everything I've seen him in, he's been about the same weight.

Oh [tornado fang] no.

I'll have to re-watch Fresh Prince in honor of his passing. He was a huge reason why I loved it.

Let's give credit to this heartbreaking scene, of which most of it was improvised, hug included. Both Will and James deserve credit for their talent.

Yep.

Sony knew that full well, and shamelessly put his name in the tags of all their tester videos; his name and NO ONE else.

Ys I in particular has some rather obnoxious design in many ways, such as how the latter 2/3 of it is played. You'll see if you get there. Upside is, the level cap is only 10. Though that's in part to make sure you're all maxed out before the 3rd boss and final dungeon due to uh, well again you'll see what I mean.

Ys II is a fuckton better in every way, which seems odd given that the two of them were originally meant to be just one long game. The addition of a projectile attack alone improves the combat and bosses by a lot. In fact, all but the final two bosses require the fireball and its homing upgrade. Its probably the only boss rush in the series I'll come back to just because they're so damn fun. The bump combat is also easier because enemies will pretty much do nothing if you just run at them diagonally. Though that doesn't work as well on Nightmare difficulty. Also you can set villagers on fire. Or gift them flowers and [parasitic bomb] to the point that they blush whenever talked to.

I heard something about Ys II being locked until you beat the first game. Not sure if it's actually true.

That would kinda suck, because if I lose motivation to finish the first, I'll be locked out of the sequel.

But yeah, I plan to start them this month.

List time! From best to worst.

Ys IV(TGCD), Ys IV(SNS), Ys I&II, Ys 7, Ys Origins, Ys OiF, Ys V, Ys VI, Ys III

If you like turn based RPGs, try Legend of the Heroes(XSEED versions). If you like more action RPGs, try Xanadu, especially Xanadu NEXT.

I like both turn-based and action RPGs, but I suppose I'd lean more towards turn-based.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Bought Ys I II Chronicles+ on Steam.

This would be my first time playing a Ys game.
