Now that's kind of better, still, perhaps I'm just over-sensitive. Sorry, Phi. Didn't mean to be an [dark hold] myself.

It's just that, I've seen it happen once to an elderly person, long time ago when I was small, and basically some teenage assholes laughed instead of helping the old guy out, eventually another older person came to check on him and helped him get up. Even though I was small, I still remember it.

But in general, even when I look at my grandma, and how she fares and how many times she fell down, it just pisses me off when someone tries to pass "OH THIS OLD PERSON FELL DOWN HOW FUNNY" as something which actually warrants even a chuckle. I know you didn't mean it, nor did I mean to imply you're actually an [dark hold] (I was merely using it as a form of example).

Yeah.

It's fine, Tron.

After hearing about what happened with your grandmother, I completely understand why that pissed you off. And as for those bullies picking on the elderly, I will never ever understand that kind of disgusting behavior. [tornado fang]ing parents not doing their job in properly raising their children is all I can say.

Anyway, I apologize for posting that gif.

Right. It would seem I've now reached my point on RPM where I'm considered an [dark hold]. I wonder if everyone goes through that phase eventually.

Again, I point out, it's subjective.

But, hey, guess what: I love old people. I love kids, too (to an extent, because many are annoying as [tornado fang]). I've helped an old woman with her shopping cart at least 3 times, by memory.  I always wave to my elderly neighbors, and I do have an appreciation for them, because I see a person who has settled.

And it's sad in a way, because with some of them, I can somewhat see regret in their eyes; someone who has lived for a while, and finally understand what they were living for, wishing they hadn't wasted their youth on stupid [parasitic bomb]. I see the subtle twitches in their face when they look at a child being reckless; but it's not contempt, it's pity.

Did I laugh at the gif I posted? Yes. Not a huge, "HAHA LOOK AT THAT LOSER", but I did get a light chuckle out of it. He's not dead, he didn't get a serious injury.

the ice-cream van

This child fell.

I laughed, and at the very same extreme, it felt wrong to do so. That's part of what makes humor so morally questionable.

The mother laughed, however, it's not like she's going to leave her son on the floor. She'll comfort him and everything, but in the moment, it was amusing. She doesn't hate him, and really, that's all there is to it.

Sometimes, you just have to let go. And if you don't want to, that's entirely up to you.

Technically, if you're playing a visual novel, you're reading an interactive book.  Also, text adventures are known as interactive fiction.  So, yes, that excuse can work depending on the game.

I didn't bring that up because I thought that went without saying.

I know it isn't, I just have trouble finding good books to read because compared to video games and manga because literature is so damn vast and it's easier to find what I want in the other forms of media.

Some of my lifes important lessons I learned were from video games, manga, and Saturday morning cartoons, as I said before Megaman X taught me the concept of life and death at the age of 5 and I got it right away while Disney didn't really do anything for me since I honestly got turned off from Princesses and talking animals as a kid, except for Rocko's Modern Life and Mickey mouse because they act like people and not animals to me since they own houses and walk on 2 feet even though that is far more unrealistic.

Xiaolin Showdown taught me that true courage is not being fearless but being able to face your fears. Not to mention the ending where Omi realizes that he's not meant to be the leader and that Raimundo is the true leader, that's realizing that sometimes you need to re evaluate yourself to find what you really have to do and that some roles are not fit for you. Not to mention there's always someone better than you. Courage the Cowardly Dog also taught me about the the true meaning of Courage, and he applies that very well I might add, but it's also can deal with Kantian ethics, Egoism, Utilitarianism and stuff like that. It's also a great lesson for being yourself and doing things your way, especially the last episode.

Not to mention the countless Gwen Stacy dilemas of saving one person being just as hard as saving the world, you cannot help every single person in the world, evil triumphing when good men do nothing, and attracting flys with honey rather than with vinegar meaning that being nice to people is better in the long run than being a [sonic slicer]. You should also never expect a reward for being nice, you just do it because it's the right thing to do and you can also apply a number of ethical theories with that.

The thing here is that I really care more about what I get from what I do and how I can apply it, yes I can learn all those things from literature but I learn important concept better from simple things like video games cartoons and the smaller scale of video games and manga fill that need for me better since I can get lost in the wall of text.

Well, yes. I never said games or TV shows weren't important in terms of comprehending the human identity, ethical dilemmas, etc. I merely stated that they are shortened versions. I completely understand learning some life lessons from them.

That doesn't mean I don't enjoy reading books and don't learn from them I just can get it fast with the other forms of media. I liked reading Shakespeare and Holmes and will probably come back to read some more of them someday, not to mention I need to finish the last book in A Series of Unfortunate events but I just absorb video games better because it's interactive. I mean Romeo and Juliet and Taming of the Shrew taught me about how love is something you can't rush or else everyone you know will freaking regret it. I can apply that to a lot of freaking things, that's why I'm not looking for a relationship and would be fine if I don't get married, it's a huge thing that is so easy to mess up. Also probably one of the reasons I don't want kids, along with the fact that I probably wouldn't be a good mother for various reasons. Hamlet taught me how Batman Gambits work and that people experience and deal with grief differently. Even Julius Ceaser, which I regard as one of the most boring things I have ever read and I seriously hated reading it because of how it dragged even though it wasn't long, taught me that it is actually possible to discredit someone and get people to sick of someone by saying that they are great while pointing out subtle things to make people turn against them. I associate that with how people hype things up and how people respond to that hype.

http://www.ibiblio.org/ais/speechan.htm

Hell Klaus Baudelaire is probably the character I'm channeling with what I'm saying, learning things and applying things, I just expand the pool of information with more than just books like he does.

The important thing here is not quality or preferance, it's what I can learn, how quickly I can latch on to something, and how I can apply it.

Now the reason there are some books I want to read is because they are not literature books, they are self help and non fiction books that have facts and will teach me how to do and apply things better, not really life lessons but techniques.   And I know I can't get that from video games, manga, cartoons, movies or literature, I need those books specifically.

Okay, see, that's the thing. The way you worded your previous post lead me to the conclusion that you haven't read many books, and instead opted to play games to fill that void for knowledge.

That's all. I just felt it was odd thinking that you never read much outside of gaming and cartoons, but now that I see that's not the case, I understand what you're trying to say.

Is this supposed to be funny, am I supposed to laugh?
Why would you post that?

Humor is subjective.

I also need to learn what I can do with this Kindle app, for once I actually have books I want to read for myself because of my interest in HR.  You have no idea how shocking that is since I don't really read anything besides manga, at least book wise.  In fact one of main reasons I play video games is because I actually consider them interactive books.

Playing video games shouldn't be an excuse to put off reading. Manga doesn't count, because it really isn't complex at all compared to college level literature.

Especially since many games are merely summarized and condensed versions of a much larger context.

I don't have a specific brand of humor. I just sort of come up with stuff as I go along; though some are loosely based on my experiences in real life.

Still reading The Hero with a Thousand Faces.

I implore everyone to read it; Joseph Campbell uses psychology to connect reality and mythological motifs in extraordinary ways.

Man, Crimson Shroud is so damn fun. Even though I keep losing this boss fight, it's not frustrating. It's genuinely difficult and not cheaply difficult like so many other games.

Good [parasitic bomb].

Meanwhile, somewhere else

"I don't know, Dave. I just don't think I can keep this gig up much longer," A rather well-built man in heroic looking tights stated, lifting a cigarette from its carton.

A much older man with a bald head and red shades took a sip of coffee, "Look, Arche, everyone loves ya. You got fans, posters, merchandise, T-shirts, bobble-heads-"

"Do people even use bobble-heads anymore?" Arche lit up his cigarette and leaned back against the building, smoking.

"I... I don't know, the point is, a job this good don't come around often. Hell, didn't you tell me you scored a busty brunette when she found out who you were? You play a children's show super hero, for cryin' in a cup, and that got you laid!"

He shrugged, "Yeah, I don't know about her. She seemed a little off. I mean, she practically fainted when I told her I played the Poke Ranger. I think she has a super hero fetish..."

"Bitches love super heroes," Dave stated.

"... Okay, promise me those words will never spill through your mouth ever again," He replied.

"Yeah, agreed," He nodded, realizing it sounded wrong.

Arche continued, "Anyway, there's more to a job than that. I appreciate this job, man, I really do, but with all the stress with my kids and some personal issues... I don't know how long I can balance it all. It was a good run, but perhaps it's time to hang up the cape," He took another puff of his cigarette.

*sigh* "Well, can you at least... think about it some more?"

"Dave, I-"

"I know, I know, just... Please."

"...Yeah, okay."

(I half-assed this, but eh. I think it's safe to say that this Arche is the oldest out of all his variations, judging by how he has children. Also, I know this RP is dying, but I just wanted to have this here as a reference that he exists in this universe.)

Just passed this one part in Crimson Shroud that I was stuck on. Somehow, they thought it'd be a smart idea to have you defeat enemies in a specific order to obtain a key. The game does absolutely nothing to hint or explain that you; you're just exploring a dungeon and, boom, you can't move on because all the areas are sealed off.

I was forced to seek GameFAQs for information on how to obtain the key. Other than that inconvenience, it's a really fun game.

The whole Ridley debate got me in the mood to play Metroid, been playing through Zero Mission and Fusion; next up Super Metroid?

The whole Ridley debate got me in the mood to avoid Metroid.

Downloads don't take too long for me. Not unless it's over like 6GB or something. And in that time, I just find something else to do.

Also, installation is the shortest process; only lasting about 5-6 minutes.
