That is indeed cool.

Also, silly Sakurai. It's not a secret if you reveal it to everyone.

I'll order a pizza, we'll watch movies, play games, play with Mabel, do art, read comics...

How does one "do art"? Do you look at a blank piece of paper and say, "art"?

Art! Art, damn you!

Well, the final version is the one actually used in the game. The changes aren't too much different from the prototype, but if you have a good ear, you can tell they use higher quality instruments (because it's an orchestra) and the overall feel is more intense.

Etrian Odyssey IV's Battle Theme Goes With Everything

This is only the prototype of the battle theme. I assure you, the final version sounds even better.

I assume I'm at the midway point of The Last Of Us, and it's still very fun. I came into it thinking the visuals would look like Uncharted 3, however, it definitely surpasses it. Not an easy task.

I'm actually racking my brain on how they fit all those assets, textures, lighting, etc. into a PS3 game, because all great looking games have short-comings; TLOU has none, as far as I can tell. I mean, sure, there are flat textures here and there, but the overall package is incredible. I suppose I'll just be forced to chalk it up to Naughty Dog using some kind or sorcery to pull off what they did.

As for the gameplay, it's by no means groundbreaking, but it does work. It has the basic stealth elements and shooting controls, feeling very similar to Uncharted in the shooting aspect. Love the ability to throw bottles/bricks to distract enemies.

The stealth is better than Uncharted (I keep bringing that up because, when all is said and done, Uncharted is the foundation from which TLOU is built upon) however, I find myself occasionally alerting the clickers even when carefully sneaking around them. It gets annoying, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here, is it biting sarcasm?
I mean, it was pretty easy to forget I made that thread, I don't even post in entertainment that often.

Half sarcasm, half serious.

Cooler is Frieza's older brother (DBZ names are so punny, aren't they?) and visits Earth after hearing of Frieza's demise. He heard that he was killed by a Saiyan, and claimed that Frieza had dishonored their family name by being defeated by such a race.

His revenge is to kill Goku, the Saiyan who bested his brother, and regain the family's honor.

I'll have to watch Whose Line again at some point.

I was far too young to understand the majority of the jokes and references when I last watched it.

Watching the newest season of Archer and it's hilarious as always; the comedic timing is impeccable. One of the very few shows that are consistent.

And I don't say that lightly. Too many shows get worse over time.

Roleplay / Re: RPG Discussion: Character Naming
« on: May 03, 2014, 01:56:15 AM »
I got the name Phi from Virtue's Last Reward, and gained a fondness for her character. Soon afterwards, I found out that it originated from the Greek Alphabet. Much like her character, the name Phi has various mathematical, philosophical and scientific connections.

I now understood why she was complex and somewhat more intelligent than the other characters in the game. I respected that, and attempted to craft the WilyRP Phi in the same vein; creating a potent, intelligent and psychologically aware character of my own.

For example, Phi represents the Golden Ratio (essentially, a perfect, aesthetically pleasing mathematical ratio), among many other mathematical solutions and scientific theories.

Because Phi is associated with experimental theories and reliance on perception, the mere implications of the name is mysterious in itself. Thus, that is part of the reason why WilyRP Phi is cryptic and bound to a set of laws she stands by, even if some of them aren't entirely proven.

-----

Archetype (though I'm calling him Arche, for short) is from my interest with Greek Mythology and the Hero's Journey.

As you all may know, an Archetype is, in layman's terms, the original version of an object, idea, person, pattern of behavior, etc.

Arche goes on a journey after Luna's tragedy, and circumvent many obstacles and undertake various "trials". This is the very idea of the "Hero's Journey", a fundamental pattern/cycle of which many characters in stories must go through to find their path in life.

-----

Lastly, Akane is from 999, therefore connected to Virtue's Last Reward (same series/universe). After looking up her name, I discovered that Akane is a Japanese representation of anger and is often associated with the color red. The name can also mean, "Angry Child"

However, neither 999 Akane or WilyRP Akane are irate or hot-headed characters, so I assume they chose the name simply because it sounded nice. I liked her character, much like how I respected Phi, so I made my own version.

Oh, and the sounds haven't really bothered me. Phi, Arche(type) and Akane are short and to the point.

I just recently found out that women applying to be cheerleaders for the NFL are mandated to go through a "jiggle test" where the coaches decide if their bodies are sexy enough to represent the team or some such nonsense.

Quote
"One week prior to the game, we were to dress in our uniforms and stand before our coach, who had a clipboard in her hand, and we had to face forward, turn around, face back to the front and do about 10 jumping jacks. And from there, she would write down on her notepad what parts of our bodies jiggled,” she said.

It gets worse.

The “Jills,” as they’re called, were made to make appearances at liquor-fueled golf outings, where they were purchased by golfers, and forced to ride around with them in two-person golf carts. Not surprisingly, touching happens. Sounds like a pretty dehumanizing gig, even with prior knowledge that you’ll be asked to wear next to nothing and dance in front of mostly male football fans.

(Phi couldn't care less about getting involved. Arche could run outside, though I'm not sure what he could really do against an angry mob. It's not like he can fight them and he's not really known for making speeches.)

"What in the..." Without much thought, Arche opened the door and ran towards the mob.

What in the world am I doing? He thought to himself.

Phi chuckled slightly, "What is he doing? Is he trying to stop them?"

Out of nowhere, Phi's skin began to crawl. She squirmed around and started rubbing her arms back and forth.

"What the hell?" She muttered.

Arche, slightly nodding off to sleep, opened one eye, "Huh? What's up?"

"I... I don't know," She replied, feeling chillingly cold, "I just got goosebumps or something," A dull throbbing grew in the back of her head, and pondered if it was connected to the coldness crawling through her skin.

Just then, she could've swore she heard a woman's voice call out to her, simply saying, "Phi"

"Akane?" She bit her nail, thinking to herself.

"Who's Akane? Ah, that woman who took you in, right?" Arche asked.

She nodded, "Yeah... something doesn't feel right. I think she's trying to tell me something, but I can't get a reach on her," She shut her eyes and tried to focus on Akane's "signal", but failed, "What the hell is going on? It's like something is blocking our link..."

Arche scratched his head, "Blocking you like... bad reception...?"

Phi sighed, "We're not damn phones, but... it does seem to be something like that. This has never happened before." She grew visibly worried for her friend; it was clear as day on her face. The only other time Arche has seen Phi display this kind of emotion was when he snapped on that Zero Joe and way back when Luna was still alive. Then again, when she was alive, Phi didn't really act much like she does now.

Phi shook her head, "No, Akane is strong. She... she should be fine," She impatiently continued to bite on her nails.

Arche raised an eyebrow, "Hey, everything okay?"

"Y-yeah..." She then cleared her throat, "Yes. Everything is fine."
