Well it's not the technical execution of the colouring or the fun shiny colours that are bad (even if my lack of mastery of the SAI brush tool held me back a bit at the start, check out that brush at 50% zoom). Rather, my lack of a finish, and appropriate detailing, was really disappointing. To me, at least.
In several-months-ago-me's defense, I had absolutely no idea what kinda details to do in the first place. Unsurprisingly, since I don't draw giant messiah-bots every day. (See Krystal, this is why you should've just done a normal sexy picture.)

It's also the first time my lighting in an image has been this ridiculously bad. Sure the light is coming from an entire freakin' wall of lava and beam swords but...hm, I really asked for this with my image idea, didn't I? Case in point the lighting in the image could've been better. A lot better.

Oh and don't get me started on compositional flaws. What in the world was I thinking when I decided to put a random floating rock under Omega's sword? Is he meant to be slashing through it? No? Then why is it there breaking up the vertical composition of the picture? Oh right, my stupid impromptu decision. Ahaha...derp.

Also, I apparently had the time to give all of Omega's shiny metally bits a liquid metal shine but forgot to give anything a reflection. Yeah, smart move Krystal, smart move. Oh and I don't know, maybe when you're surrounded by lava, you wouldn't have hard shadows on you. Cell shading is a bad habit, isn't it?
Hey look yellow MSPaint airbrush lava! The artist must've been rushing for the deadline :D Either that or she has no idea what lava looks like. Or both. I'd say both.

I'm also going to say that the technical execution of Omega's right arm sucks. But no one needs to hear me on an anatomy rant.

...Aaaaanyway. (Aren't you glad I don't do this to you?)
When I came up with the idea, the basic idea was to make something from fans, for fans. Something lots of official/forced stuffs can't do. I showed WIPs to my friends along the way and the general reaction was: 'Yes, that's definitely how it felt.'
Since my main goal was 'pulling this off', if the fans/viewers are happy, I'm happy.

Oh and Omega, you and I will meet again in battle, [sonic slicer] =o=

Hey guys hey guys it's the same game you loved/hated...IN 3D.

I sorta hate how the 3DS is the best excuse evah to do that.
In my opinion it feels like Nintendo is finally bringing all their 'gimmicky' ideas together, with new things. You know, motion sensing handheld, motion sensing controller, touch screen handheld, touch screen controller. How could using the handheld as a controller be anything but a great idea? =w=
Book styled games are designed to be played on the DS only. They wouldn't be the same on a big screen. I mean, you tried reading a book on the TV? It doesn't have the same rustic feel.

Hmm, well, actually, I think what you can do is to line/ink your pictures. Your style definitely suits a solid, bold line. Your current sketch lines work fine with sketches, but I think you should finalise and colour pictures with a really bold outline around individual objects/areas, and with fine/coloured lines around decorations/patterns/creases/etc. Your style would look really good like that, imo.
At the moment your lines are thin and uniform, which doesn't give them much character.

It's a hoodie with Jack Skellington's face on it, I'd wear it out more but it's too big for me like everything else I wear at home. Under it is an oversized boy's tshirt. They are indeed comfy 8D
At home I value comfort and temperature control over everything else. \o/

@Blackhook: If you'll let me rant on for a bit, I like to think that the battle against Omega is the most representative of Zero's struggle in the series, and that Omega's 2nd form is the most representative of Omega's nature.
Like how he views himself as a god that towers above everyone else, complete and utter lack of emotion and identity, the corruption of Zero and X, the overwhelmingness of it all, and stuffs. Yes stuffs, my brain isn't working very well today.
That, and I love David vs Goliath battles. Struggling to overcome something so immense that it seems completely impossible, it's a good metaphor for 'being a hero' or 'saving the world', as there is always a part to focus on that'll bring the problems tumbling down :D In stories anyway.
Personally I want to try it again. There's a lot I like and I don't like about that picture, but one of the things that bugs me is how small Omega looks =\

@Rep: If I joined would it make me popular on dA?

I think that requires English songs because not many people (ie. everyone minus otaku) would pay to watch something they don't understand.
English songs require English speaking composers and producers. To get English speaking composers and producers to produce with Miku requires an English Miku. To release an English Miku, they need to market her as an idol and a concept.
To do that, they're giving her a Toyota commercial, apparently.

We're on our way, slowly.

Personally I think Gorillaz concerts were more impressive.

Hmm, well, how's this?

I basically traced your picture, then did up my guidelines, redrew the face (that includes ear) and nose, then moved the eyes+eyebrows.
Then I added hair for fun.

Guidelines are always good, but it's how you use them that's important.

You still haven't told me where you find the time to draw so much.

I...thought so but it was so unfunny I didn't know what to think of it.
Nyehcat wasn't non-stop until the fans made it so, though. Anyway I like LK's cover of "I'm Back" better.

Miku's producers have decided this is the way it's gonna be, and well, that's how it's gonna go down, no one else has much of a say on this. Whether they succeed or fall flat is their fault, and they'll learn from it what their target audience wants.
I personally think it's pretty clever, not introducing who the [tornado fang] Hatsuni Miku is and letting curious peeps look her up themselves.
But egads give dem Americans a less squeaky first impression.

WIM is a famous, one of the most famous, Miku songs, and also has an interesting theme. Since Miku is currently on a quest to take over the world, hm.

Spriting doesn't count as pixel art...? Okay. I always thought it was.

I'm not complaining :< It's just that all of us have room to improve, in all areas.
Anyway, shorter face looks better, but for the record Aile is also leaning backwards and her legs are also too short =w=

It was stated on twitter back on Sunday that Miku would be making her first 'English Debut' this week. Since then people have been waiting to see what weird thing they were going to pull. Turns out she's now the star of a Toyota commercial. Can't wait to see how this is received by non Vocaloid-savvy people >_>a

I like the manly Miku image they used to promote it.

Also Nyanyanyanyan(ry has become a YT meme since I last saw it. I can't believe it. ~_~'

Ilikethatshirt.

Eh, I tell my hairdresser to just dry my hair. Styling your hair costs extra time and money and unless you're going somewhere there isn't really much of a point to it.
Waking up in the morning -> best hairstyle \o/

Well, I'm cool w/ the decision as long as they did it on merit. ie. It was at the wrong end of the quality/originality/coolness/skill spectrum. But if they rejected the picture due to the fact that Omega is being depicted as using his sword backhanded or something silly like that, then I'm gonna be pissed.

Well...I'd sit on Rock.

Where do you find the time to draw so much man? >_>a Anyway, I'd like to point out that your 3/4 angled faces, and occasionally your profiles, give your characters quite recessive chins. It's a stylistic choice for some people, but to me, it feels anatomically off. Also, I personally feel that your faces are a bit thin. According to one 'rule' for realism faces, a flat frontal shot of a face should have the corners of the eyes, and the middle of the chin (between the lips, and bottom of face) form an equilateral triangle.
Well, whether you chose to try it out or not is up to you.

Re-fuckin'-jected bitches!

Oh well, no big loss. The colouring, specifically the finish, was lazy anyway. Let that be a lesson to the rest of you. Never try to complete a month long competition in the last few days. Or at least I can't do it. I don't colour pictures enough :V

I think I has other stuffs to show but I dun feel like digging.
