- 32/64 MByte NOR memory, so you can permanently store 1 GBA game on it, and use it on any other GBA system and also unlock secret things from DS games that has a GBA-unlock feature.
- 16 MByte PSRAM memory, so you can play a GBA game directly from the DS cartridge, a soft-load if you want to call it that. When you turn off the game, the PSRAM'd game will disappear from the 3-in-1.
- Extra RAM for DS Internet Browsers, like the Opera browser for example.
- Rumble feature for your DS games. Low, Medium, High rumble.

He got it for playing GBA games. I guess the rumble feature is useless.

Another way is to see if an emulator lets you disable background layers. If you can or can't do that, you can still use snapshot or "Record AVI" (if the emulator has it) so that you get as many frames as you want.
If the emulator doesn't let you record AVI, use a program to record the screen, like Camtasia Recorder (it comes with Camtasia Studio). The codec you have to use is "Full Frames (Uncompressed)" or "TechSmith Screen Capture Codec" (in the settings, drag the Compression Control all the way to "Faster Compression").
Open the AVI video with Virtualdubmod and pick the frame you want to save into PNG, click "Video > Snapshot source frame" and the rip is done. ^^b
