Gaming / Re: 3DS Pricedrop. Early Adopters gets free NES+GBA VC games

There seems to be some SLIGHT scaling going on.

Just a tiny bit (1 or 2 pixels at the most). Mario looks fine tho, but you see it clearly in Wrecking Crew, Metroid and Zelda.

But the scaling is horizontal, not vertical. Here's why...

The NES's vertical resolution is 256 while the 3DS's is 240.

One of these statements are wrong. Can you guess which one? Let's compare some NES screens.

Oops~ Wrong game! 8D

Let's try that again.

You see what's going on here? Clearly, every pixel is there for your mouth-watering eye-sparkling enjoyment. But how is that possible?! D:

Because the Famicom/NES is capable of displaying games in two specific resolutions based on video modes. :3

256x224 and 256x240. The most common video mode is the one at 224px, but if you want to display more things on the screen that you normally don't see, 240px is more preferred.

Let's try that again~

While we're at it, funniest Ambassador Certificate review here.

If anyone still can't access their games through "Account Activity", pick the one right under it: "Your Downloads".

The download buttons for each game will show up there. XD

I will put my games here soon.

News and Announcements / Interview with Capcom Legend TOM-PON!
« on: August 31, 2011, 12:59:48 AM »
TOM-PON (Naoya Tomita) is a Capcom employee that has been with Capcom way back in the late 80s, where he worked as an artist and designer on a couple of classic Capcom games, including Rockman games, starting with the very first game in the series. A few games to mention he worked on was Rockman, Rockman 2 and Final Fight, among others.

Rockman Unity's own Rockman guru Ucchy took the time to have a video interview with TOM-PON back in March, where he asks things like who came up with the original design for Rockman and what is TOM-PON's favorite stage, and other things.

GregaMan at Capcom Unity took the time to translate the interview and uploading the videos to the Unity account on Youtube. To see the translation, make sure the CC button is activated on the video player. If it isn't showing up, go to the youtube page where the videos are showing up.

Next week, there "might" be a Nintendo-website announcement about a "confirmation form" for English users, similar to the Japanese form, where you have to check your 3DS serial number.

Aaaand I was right~

Quote
Nintendo 3DS customers who performed the latest system update or connected to the Nintendo eShop before 11:59pm Eastern time on August 11, 2011 were automatically registered in the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program.

During the week of August 15th Nintendo will launch a website that will allow customers to enter their Nintendo 3DS serial number to check their Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program eligibility. Once the website is live, you will receive a message with the link.

Starting September 1st, 2011, Ambassadors will be able to download 10 NES"TM" games at no charge from the Nintendo eShop. By the end of 2011, Nintendo will also provide Ambassadors with 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games. To download these games, Ambassadors will need to connect* to the Nintendo eShop. We will be announcing more information and instructions for how to download them soon.

*Wireless broadband internet access required.

OK, the Ambassador Program serial number tool is available now~ (GN)

Write the serial number from the back of your 3DS and see if your 3DS is able to get the free games! :cookie:

Don't enter the last number inside the square border thingy.

Right after the Staff Roll (at least in the Japanese version), if you wait a bit, the "Thanks for playing!!" style screen with a Capcom logo will appear. The song will play right there.
