I love retro, but I still hope for a X9 with newer, more awesome graphics than ever before.  However, you know what would be truly awesome?  If X9 had a Maverick named Retro Giraffe, and during his level, you'd go through it in 16-Bit at times, then PSX style, and so on!

LoL, it's just a case of to each his own.

Mario Kart 64 is my 2nd favorite game of all time.

I've never known anyone to hate Toad's Turnpike, or anything about Mario Kart 64.

..Except the way Lou plays.

Yeah, but physically impossible can be pretty damn awesome.  Like a flying time-traveling steam engine. 8)

Physically impossible has been awesome ever since Bugs Bunny didn't study law, for gravity!

then WHAT are you complaining about if you like it?

I'm not complaining.  I'm stating the fact that running with those ginormous feet is physically impossible!   8)

I am referring to Zero's opening, not the game opening.  Two different scenes.

Once again, the point still stands.  His legs are clearly slimmed down, in order to make running possible without phasing abilities!

Just like balancing yourself during a dash.  Nobody cares.

Oh, I don't care.  I actually love the bulky legs.  LoL, but it's still physically impossible.

Just got home from playing it with Lou.  We got as far as World 3 before I had to head out.

Honestly, this type of game is truly all I ever want out of gaming.

X3 isn't even physically capable of keeping track of which armor Zero is wearing.  Proper running is the LEAST of that trailer's worries.

And X4's cutscenes are hardly the epitome of consistency either, as quite a few design details are glazed over.  However, while we're on that note, recall that Zero is shown running in his opening cutscene, full-body.  Recall also, for Zero vs. Sigma, that leg overlap is dramatic and stuff (ask Ruby Spears X).

I believe we established that slimming on the level of MHX is acceptable.

But yet X3 shows the physical impossibility that his builky legs have so perfectly.

LoL, did you even read my conversation with Flame?  When Zero runs in the opening scene, you see his legs for literally a second or less, so it's impossible to judge.  Haha, and as dramatic as it may be, it's still physically IMPOSSIBLE!   :P

Very nice, Jericho!  I like it, and I like it a lot.

One thing I might add to Toad is to make his Air Down A another Grapple, similar to how he lands on someone's head and picks them up in SMB2.

Toad's Turnpike

In honor of Jericho's new character, I figure he deserves his own stage as well.  And quite frankly, I can't think of a more fitting stage to give him other than his very own Turnpike from Mario Kart 64.  This stage would be your basic flat level stage except for walls on both ends, about a third of the way up, would prevent easy side knockoff-age.  Of course, the awesome part of the level would be the three lanes in the middle of the road, which would have oncoming traffic heading your way at a steady pace.  Cars & Trucks can be jumped over, and also can be avoided on the sides of the turnpike, with the gaps that are there with Item Blocks (just like in MK64).  If the Cars & Trucks hit, they cause decent damage & knock up, obviously becoming more dangerous the higher your health is.  Fun times are had by all!

Music
Toad's Turnpike - Mario Kart 64

Battle Mode - Super Mario Kart

Battle - Mario Kart 64

Mushroom City - Mario Kart Double Dash

Toad's Factory - Mario Kart Wii

Character Select - Super Mario Bros. 2

Goomba's Booty Boardwalk - Mario Party 8

You Lose - Mario Kart 64
(LoL, I don't know why.  I just [tornado fang]ing love this theme.)

Until I have more NSMBWii music info, I can't post much from that.  Once music from that starts hitting the YouTube, I'll probably update this.

ARE YOU [tornado fang]ing SERIOUS? I would have destroyed at the game for the game if I had known that. XD

Meanwhile, I am now totally pissed that I couldn't make it. That DJ booth alone was smile inducing.
On a scale of 1 - "[tornado fang]" how good was the event?

Sooo, does that post answer your question?  XD

Looking forward to picking this up tomorrow as well. Just curious, what was the tournament about?

Essentially, you had to play through a level with all the characters.  The 2 with the highest number of points would move on to the next round.  LoL, luck of the draw, I happened to get the bracket with 2 REALLY good players.  In just about every other bracket, the high score average was 15,000 points, with 8,000 being the next highest, and so on.  I actually got 15,000, but #2 got 18,000 and #1 got 21,000.  Dem's da breaks.

1st Prize was the game, $100 Nintendo World Gift Card, and free NSMBWii T-shirt
2nd Prize was the game, $50 Nintendo World Gift Card, and free NSMBWii T-shirt
3rd Prize was the game, $20 Nintendo World Gift Card, and free NSMBWii T-shirt
4ht Prize was a $20 Nintendo World Gift Card, and free NSMBWii T-shirt

Gaming / Here We GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! - The Nintendo-a World NSMBWii Event
« on: November 15, 2009, 07:22:43 AM »

Yes, it's-a me, your sexcellent Protoman Blues, with a fun recap of the Nintendo World New Super Mario Bros. Wii Event.  Being that this is probably one of my most anticipated games of the year, if not my MOST anticipated game of the year, I was compelled to venture into the city on this misty Saturday.  Now, I was going mainly to check out how they decked out my beloved and NYC exclusive Nintendo World store for the event.  They did not, repeat, did not disappoint.  First and foremost, I was alerted that their was a tournament being held to actually try and win the game that day.  Needless to say, I entered without-a hesitation.  Waiting outside with the rest of the Mario loving nerds, we were also told that we could check out the "Mario Museum" they had set up in a tent outside.  Naturally, I took some pics, so here they are.

And thus was my trip through the Mario Museum, which was a very nice display of things I own, things I want, and things I really wanted to steal.  After the trek through the Museum, guests were allowed in the other tent outside to actual play the game.  I could not, as I had entered in the tournament.  They had a DJ outside to, oddly not playing Mario music, but stiil.  Here's what was on his DJ Booth.

Now, as there was no more reason to be outside and wet, it was time to get inside and get dry.  Needless to say, the place was REALLY packed, with both tournament goes, and people there to buy the game early.

Well well, look who's-a here  XD

Even though he has a couple, does PB want another pic with Mario?  ABBBBB-SOLUTELY!

The tourney was being held upstairs, and as it is a video game tournament, obviously it wouldn't start at the time it was suppose to, so nothing else to do but wander around, look at things I want, and snap more pics.

And thus, that last picture was the area in which the tournament was held, and where yours truly got knocked out the first round.  LoL, no biggie though.  I came very close, and got a free t-shirt anyway!  After the tournament, Lou finally met up with my friend and I at Nintendo World, and there was only one thing left to do...

And thus ended the event.  Our princess was clearly in another castle, so it was time to leave.  Out of all the events that I've been at in Nintendo World, this is by far my favorite.  Very well organized & lots of goodies and treats for all.  I can't wait to play this game tomorrow with Lou-igi!  I hope you all enjoy-a da pics!

dunno. eems to work just fine for Zero in 4.

Haha, it works for the reasons I just stated.  You don't actually see him run in the opening.  Heh, but if you watch the Zero vs. Sigma scene, you clearly see the bulky legs overlapping each other more than once, as if their massive boots can Shadowcat-like, Martian Manhunterly phase through each other.

X3 isnt the best example thr PB. in X4 it seemed to work though. especially in that scene where Zero is running in place.

X3 is the best example for why it doesn't work.  X4 is a prime example too.  #1. You only see Zero's legs for a second, if that.  #2. Watch Double trip over his own fat feet.  #3. In the What Am I Fighting Foraaaghh scene, Zero's legs, for the brief second you see them, are slimmed down pretty much to X8 levels.
