True, true, GAF can be quite the fun place at times. Also, this game looks and sounds way too awesome and ambitious at times. I really hope good things will come from it all. 8)

You and me both.

I'd like to think that, with the likes of Kingdom Hearts, FF:CC and IaWW doing quite well for SE over the last few years, it would have given them more license to invest in more original works.

I mean, this game looks gravy, thus far, but it's just kinda sad to think that these types of games are seen only every blue moon, it seems.

It's like, as soon as I'm ready to say, with conviction, that "I'm done with Sq-En", they do stuff like this to reel me right back in. Maybe if I'm serious next time, they'll get back together with Treasure and give us more Trouble Makers!

Also, love the sig Ben. XD

Straight from the Bayonetta thread on GAF!

Besides, I gots to do my part. Bayonetta looks to be pretty much the sum of all of Kamiya's action game goodness...times 100! The gospel of this game MUST be spread!  8)

If everything goes like last time, PC port will come out a year or so later, to coincide with the Ver B that will arrive soon after the PS2 port.  8D

I second those SRKers who believe Ryougi is probably going to be broke as all get out, more than likely.  8)

On the other hand...now that Kara no Kyokai is fair game, I wonder if Aozaki Taoko will be fair game. Not only would it be nice to finally have Aoko's sister in this game, but she would do enough to be both a 2nd rep for KnK, but she could also be a sort of walking ad for "Mahōtsukai no Yoru", the new visual novel slated for this year.

So um yeah, am I the only person keeping an eye out for this one at this point?

Not at all. It's just that reading GAF comments are so funny, it's easy to forget to "spread the love" back here, donchaknow.  8D

Overall, I'm excited. Comments?

The more I see, the more I like what I see. I was never able to really get into any of the Crystal Chronicles games in the past, but this one seems to do a lot to be more up my particular alley.

Plus, for this to be one of the distinctly few instances where Sq-En tries something actually ORIGINAL (like IaWW/TWEWY before it)? Oh, this has to be supported...

Shiki....get dat butter knife ready....

Because PS2 port for MB: Actress Again is announced in this ish.

Go here for the scans, as they emerge:

Why can't Treasure/Square Enix/Nintendo just put this game on the VC already, instead of giving me [parasitic bomb] I don't give a [MAMA LUIGI] about every week?

Because, doing anything relating to this property would entail that the two main parties involved, Enix and Treasure, would have to touch and agree on something, so that the game can be (re)distributed.

So, until we get anything along those lines, Marina's not going to be shaking anything for a while.  ;O;

Gaming / Re: Grinding.
« on: April 14, 2009, 08:17:38 PM »
I dunno...I really do pertain to the camp that does more to believe that grinding is an out-dated mechanic for games, just like random battles.  8D

Case in point: Dissidia - Final Fantasy.

I will openly admit that, after the time I spent with the game, it really does more to feel like a lackluster "fighting game". But the biggest thing? Grinding. WHY do I have to grind, just to be able to complete my dude's moveset and get cool stuff for him, so that he can be "competitive"?

And it's not like they have a sort of "World Tour/Campaign" (think Street Fighter Alpha 3 or Soul Calibur 1/2's mode), where this sort of crap can be reserved for those who have the patience, or actually DESIRE this type of thing, leaving normal people who just want to fight on an even plateau alone. No, you are FORCED to grind (or exploit the "glitch" that's available), if you want to do more to see everything the game has to offer.

That, in the end, was what really made me drop Dissida like a bad habit, and plenty others followed suit because of similar reasons.

I'm praying, for the love of all that's good, that Tales of Vs. handles this entire thing better, if it MUST have grinding that's unavoidable part of playing the game. But I would much rather have a World Tour/Story Mode for this type of thing, and let me and my friends just kick-ass in a "plain fashion".

Fall 2009. The time for climaxes.  8D

Quote from: IGN
Platinum Games' debut title MadWorld was released first in Western markets, so we were a bit concerned when word recently broke about a Fall 2009 Japanese release for the developer's second title, Bayonetta. All concerns were cleared today when Sega confirmed that the PS3/Xbox 360 multiplatform action title will see a simultaneous worldwide release. That's Fall 2009, everywhere.

So yay, everybody should be able to play this game within the same span of time, even our PAL-brethren!

A bit more stuff for this delightful game.

More shots:
http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/152/152514/

I liked that Bayonetta has white and black colored guns, too (though they look different from Dante's certainly). Kamiya is just giving out a shot out to his older creation.  8)

And some info:
Quote from: GAF
Here's some of the info I got from the site, some old, some new, not too much revealing altogether. Mostly about weapons and fighting style.

- 20 years ago, Bayonetta came back to life from a coffin sunk in the bottom of the lake with no memory of anything but her witchcraft. What little memory she has points her towards Vigrid, a remote region in Europe. She goes there in hopes of regaining her memory, there are angels in the way, etc. etc.

- The four hand/footguns are Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme, all together the Scarborough Fair.

- The shotguns, Onix Roses, are named after a type of rose that grow in the demon world. The souls of fairies that gather on the roses are stored inside the guns, and curse those shot by weapons.

- The sword is called Shurajin, named after the fighting dieties Asura. It's a living sword with a thirst for blood, consuming the souls of what it cuts.

- The whip Kulshedra is an ancient snake demon sealed into a weapon.

- Her fighting style is called Bullet Arts, the legendary style passed down by the witch clan since ancient times.

- Her hair magic technique is called Wicked Weave. She uses her hair as a catalyst to call forth aid from inhabitants of the demon world whom are bond by pact to aid her.

- She can also use the various implements of torture, once used against witches during the time of witch hunts, against the angels.

- She can summon massive demon beasts from the demon world. The one from the first gameplay trailer is Gomora, a beast that dwells in the forest of the demon world.

"Wicked Weave"? Maybe Bayonetta shoulda been a sistah, instead. I know plenty who have "wicked weaves" of their own. 8D 8D

But any way, I'm loving this game, the more I read/see! Go, Kamiya, go!

Ah, my fave Sonic game. How I still luv you so...

To think that Oshima n his crew busted out this game, completely separate from Naka, Yasuhara & the rest at STI, working on Sonic 2. Makes me think only more on the idea, of if Artoon was given the go-head to make a game for once... [/dsi]

Either way, we are overdue for at least news on the next DMC.

Too soon, in my opinion. DMC4 just came out last year, is still on the market, and still moving units. Capcom likely doesn't have to holla at Kobyashi and crew to make a fifth game for a lil while yet. The most I could see them doing is perhaps releasing a special edition to directly combat NG2:Sigma, adding in the likes of Lady and Trish as playable characters (which they should have done the first time around, but that's the kind of things that sells these upgrade/SEs).

Besides, everything points that Kobyashi and crew are probably busy with the 3rd Sengoku BASARA game, as part of the overall BASARA hype fest going on in Japan at the moment. I, for one, can not wait for that game to be unveiled...  8)

It's Palin May Cry, get it right. XD

Eh, I like the way HK-47 on GAF put it:

God of Ninjas May Cry War: Gaiden

"Now with 100% more buttcrack and dragon suplexing!"  8D

887
Don't forget that when Capcom has a winner decided from a Rockman fan, their internal artists will redesign the character so it will fit into the series they are working on. Just like the last couple of contests, the Rockman fan's artwork is just a concept. Capcom's artists will take care of the final design for the character. So in the end, it doesn't have to be a Shooting Star character. Wait until Capcom's artists makes the final changes first. ^-^

So, in the end, basically what I was saying.

*hi fives Vixy*

888
One problem: There hasn't been a main series game in awhile, and by the looks of it this thing's appearance looks like something relaiting to EXE and Starforce, so there may be a new series based upon those two to please the kiddies.

Well, it's painfully obvious that a new "Hobby-Style" Rockman is what this new product is going to be. EXE is what gave Capcom a license to print money back in the day. Ryuusei didn't quite live up to EXE's legacy, so it was killed off, in favor of starting anew for whatever this new project is.

At this point, those of us who have no love for the Hobby Style games, may have better luck waiting on "Scramble Battle" or something else to take shape.

I just can't help it. Whenever I see or hear of this game, I automatically think:

Sarah Palin Devil May Cry clone.

Hideki Kamiya made DMC. If any one has the "right" to copy DMC, and possibly go beyond even what DMC is, it's him.  8D

Besides, as it stands right now, this game looks to be doing a lot of things right. It's so much more in the way of over-the-top. For one, Bayonetta turns into a friggin' BLACK PANTHER for one of her moves. That's hawt!

Perhaps this game will be the one that does for me what DMC4 couldn't. Hell, even DMC3, while awesome, didn't exactly do for me what the first game (which Kamiya actually directed) did. So, I'm hoping for the best.

890
Further postings on 2ch reveal the game that the boss correlates to is undecided. Strange because if you look closely, behind Clock Genius, you can see what appears to be the arm of Shooting Star Rockman...

Well, didn't they say, with the opening of the contest, that you were at least allowed to basically have a "preference" for which series your design pertained to the most?

Obviously, an EXE/Ryuusei design was probably going to end up the winner, since kids were going to be the one stuffing the inbox for the contest. But I don't think the end product will be either of those games.

891
Hideki Kamiya's new game has a new trailer out now.

As I presumed, it looks AMAZING in motion. Keep up the good work, PlatGames, you can continue to have my money!  0v0

892
Just because the design may be directly attributed to Ryuusei, doesn't mean a continuance, necessarily. It could just as well be a design used for a new game.

Or at least, I'd like to think as such, given how Capcom was displeased with Ryuusei, and seemingly content to let it go after a 3rd game.

Capcom To Show New Games At Captivate '09

Capcom has boarded the hype train, promising to show off new games during the publisher's annual Captivate event.

Can you feel the excitement? Similar to last year's event, Captivate won't be limited to the press; they've opened up some slots for members of Capcom-Unity to tag along for the festivities in Monte Carlo. For those who won't be able to attend, the news embargo lifts April 29th so expect to see trailers, screens and all sorts of stuff available publicly online.

Well, here's hoping for some new Mega Man material. (If I'm not mistaken, MM9 was "leaked" shortly after Captivate '08. Will something similar happen again?)

It may, it may not.

Over at NeoGAF, a tip that was found over at Giant Bomb was as follows:

Quote
On the Giant Bomb podcast, the Capcom guys said they were announcing at least two games: one would get everyone very excited and be a big surprise; the other would not surprise anyone (an expected sequel in other words).

Another 8-bit Rockman game could definitely fit into the scope of the latter. But we'll see. Maybe your "Shadow" dude could stand to give us something by then, in any case...

In other news, this will more than likely be the avenue where Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for PSN/LA will probably be formally announced, after having being leaked months ago...  8D

What Are The Chances Of A MM2 In HD?

In a thread on Capcom Unity, Seth Killian responded to a fan's inquiry regarding the possibility of a Mega Man 2 remake ala HD Remix style:

I would absolutely love to see something similar to Bionic Commando with added mechanics and the like. Still, I completely understand where s-kill is coming from; would a "remake" tarnish the already classic mechanics of MM2? Is it even worth the time and effort to add all sorts of new bells and whistles?

We'll see what the future holds.

Eh, why more remakes? MMPU and MHX were enough, in my opinion.

For all the effort that could go into such a thing, they could be making a NEW game. That would do more to stand to please everyone, as opposed to how remakes eventually divide "purists" from "revisionists".  8D

Ben, there's a possibility of TWIN STICKS for VOOT XBL Arcade.  If that means shafting Sonic up the ass with a Chaos Dildo, I'm more than willing to make that sacrifice!  :V

Man, Sega's just been on the ball lately, haven't they?

Sure!

...Provided it's NOT Sonic-related.  8D

But like I said in the other topic, I understand that Sonic is their go-to guy for making money off of suckers/children. If it weren't for that, who knows if Sega would have the bank for games like this, MadWorld and Bayonetta?  :D
