Besides "Not ZOE3" being "Not ZOE3"! I think you got it all covered.  8D

Still not ZOE3.  Still don't care!  XD

To be fair Blues-Greg, we were warned that ZOE3 was not going to happen any time soon. So, in my eyes, it's really hard to get all "mad" about something that we were never really promised in the first place.  8D

This, on the other hand, if done correctly, could be just the type of thing that elevates CV back to its rightful place of being actually RELEVANT again in the Konami pantheon. You can't tell me that doesn't at least pique your interest.... *pokes you playfully*

That's honestly perhaps the one thing I both dread and am enticed at the notion, at the same time.  8D

On one hand, maybe Kojima style story telling would mean regaining CV's "playful" nature that has been severely down-played in recent years. Older titles were quite aware of their B-movie heritage, and had fun with it. But more recently, and especially under IGA's regime, that wasn't so much the case. I could definitely stand to see that aspect of CV return in style.

On the other though...I already don't like how IGA did more to make CV "serious" as it's been in recent years. I completely abhor the idea of Kojima and co trying to do anything akin to making CV into as much of a nonsensical mindfuck as MGS currently is.

But hey, if Kojima-tachi is really in the mood to try and make sense of the overall CV plotline, then hell, what else could I say but "GO NUTS!"? 8D

A CV game with some serious production values backing it?

How long has it been since we've gotten something like THAT for this series?!  *o*

In any case, color me interested. This is perhaps the last opportunity CV has for being relevant on the 3D stage...something that's it been trying repeatedly to do since back in the 90s, to little avail...  8D

Oh, I know the Zelda fanboys will just rage over this one but...

for the love of god, Zelda needs what FF6 and FF7 were to that brand. More technology, grow out of the medieval ages. It's gotten so stale. I almost couldn't stand Twilight Princess. Wind Waker was charming enough because it didn't stink of medieval influence.

Heh, now THAT's something I wouldn't mind, necessarily.

But really, the one thing I would fear would be the same thing that happened to those last few Castlevania games. For all that they touted for taking place all over the time stream (especially the Sorrow games and PoR), who would know the difference if you didn't read the storyline? As far as the actual game goes, you're still largely stuck in the same damn castle, doing the exact same thing we've been doing since SOTN. They didn't take advantage of possibly citing things from the period, at all. Complete waste of potential, in my eyes.

So, if they're going to do anything like making a "Steam Punk" Zelda, I would hope that they would just do more to utilize what such a thing could mean for the franchise, and not just give us more along the lines of "OoT with a Steam Punk gloss". That won't fly with me.

Now, personally? I wouldn't mind another game in the line of Link's Awakening. Much more in the way of a mosaic of non-sense, that comes together and, some how, "makes sense" in its own way. It's still my favorite traditional Zelda to this day, and I think it has a large part to do with the fact that it was a nice breath of fresh air, even after the marvel that was LttP.

some Kojima related news has been leaked.

- there will be a new PSP game, MGS Peace Walker, potentially featuring Big Boss.

- the Raiden game is in fact multiplatform. it's listed for PS3 and PC as well.

- Lords of Shadow has become a Castlevania game, with Kojima's team involved.

that last one is pretty damn shocking, and a little confusing. does this have anything to do with the Alucard game teased a while back?

It might, it might not. GAF has been trying to see where the links could be.

In any case, a CV game with some serious production values behind it? How long has it been since we've had something like THAT?!  8D

Color me interested for both this and the Raiden Game.

IMO, Nintendo's conference is going to be pretty weak. Microsoft pretty much called Nintendo out and burned them in their conference.

They're going to have to do more than show off Motion Plus and Wii Sports Resort... and Wii Fit Plus.

Meh.

Nintendo has been taking a number of "snaps" from both Sony and M$ alike these last few months alone, and they've remained absolutely chill about it. Either because they have reason to believe that they'll be just fine, and/or they just don't care. 8D

Any way, the way Iwata was talking a few months ago, I'd like to think this show could stand to impress. But we'll see...I'd like to see what Retro may have cooking, if it is indeed Zelda-inspired.

You and I share a lot in common, Aldo, even in the notion that suggests something along the lines of my old "Koopa Battle: March of the Red-Haired King" (8D) idea from a while back.

On the other hand, while a RTS would be nice, I dunno...one of the arguably the most complex genres in gaming seems to be something that I don't think could be adapted for the sake of the kid-friendly "Mario-verse", but so easily. It would probably have to be simplified to something more akin to Sangoku Musou/Dynasty Warriors, and even that might be pushing it. Though it's certainly something I could see Nintendo making so if they and Koei ever got together...

Any way, I have two ideas that could possible work, at least just for the sake of Bowser .

1) M&L3 showcased that Bowser can (mostly) carry himself just fine. I could certainly stand to see that elaborated on, such that he would have to be willing to fight tooth and nail, by his lonesome, for a spell. In the old-school days, Bowser was supposed to be as capable in the way of magic, just as much as he was willing to throw his weight around. An action-platformer-brawler, that played to Bowser's various strengths, would be something I could definitely see Bowser doing well with.

2) The other idea may not revolve around Bowser himself, but perhaps his son.

I dunno, maybe it's me. But I've actually gotten to like the lil bastard over time, ALMOST as much as I like Roy and the original "Magnificent 7". And I think that, like Yoshi in the 90s, it may be only a matter of actually giving the bambino his own title  (which is actually GOOD, a la Yoshi's Island) before he really will be able to truly make a name for himself.

Maybe they could do something with him and that Paintbrush again (if he were to ever get it back or make another one). Or he could get something else. I dunno. But I do think that Jr has some potential in him to carry a Mario-style platformer in his own right. Plus, there's always the thing that he's possibly even more of a softy than his old man. If Wario could be made into an (anti-)hero, surely there could be room for Jr to be likewise...

EVIL PLAN!!!  owob

Yeah, it's definitely Beaver Slash.  Capcom is just fantastic with certain things like that, like Rouge's "CUM ON YOUR CEREAL" and Iron Man's "SUPERIOR DICK!"

XD

Or this.

"I...want...NOOKIE!" - (what I SWORE I heard Megaman said for one of his win poses in MvC)

785
Since you mention Wario...

I wanna see paper Wario. So bad. I'd love it.

Meh. Wario's had plenty of games.

If any one deserves a game, it's Bowser. He's the only one who hasn't truly had his own title yet.

Even Toad, practically speaking, had his own title (through Wario's Woods).

786
Or a Toad game in the influence of style of Lemmings?  8D

"Mario and Wario" was close enough to that, in my eyes. And personally, I didn't like that game at all...  -u-'

787
The Koopalings need love  0v0

Yes, they do. Hell, one thing I've always entertained would be a Mario 2-style game, where Junior and his older brothers and sister were the various characters you could choose to play as. Each one would of course have their own individual play styles, and there could even be multiplayer for 2-4 people!   owob

It'd be a nice way to unite the children of Bowser in one fell swoop, plus bring back characters that people have wanted to see for a while now. Why they weren't included in SPP, when sprites were available, and M&L1 brought them back in the fold, I won't understand. But hey, I'll be willing to excuse such a thing, if the Koopalings are brought back and soon. ^_^

Quote
....but who is their mother *looks suspicious at Kamek...if Kamek is female*

...Don't make me bring back my "Bowser" rant.  8D

Any way, to put it bluntly, I think it's safe to presume that Bowser was probably so much of a pimp, the Koopalings and Jr probably came from multiple mothers, who could have served as Bowser's different flings, tricks and/or part of his royal harem.

But Bowser won't rest until he gets at dat WHITE GIRL (Peach)! Why else would he be willing to go through so much trouble, when the Koopa empire practically owns 75% of the known Mario-verse already? It's not like the Mushroom Kingdom offers THAT much in the way of viable real estate or resources, right...? 8D

788
Now, hold on, I didn't see the Nikkei report mention anything about it being a mainline Mario title. It just said it was a Mario title.

Tru dat.

However, one thing that was alleged was that Ninty was in the works for trying to basically take at least three main things that did really well for them on the DS, and try to "convert" that for the sake of the Wii. Those three were a) Mario Kart, b) Animal Crossing and c) New SMB.

We've already gotten two of those, which would leave something closer to a "traditional/core" Mario game to be the only one that's left to be seen.

789
Released in 2H 2009? It couldn't possibly be Super Mario Galaxy 2. ...could it? I mean I guess the gameplay engine is already done, sure, but...

Well, if we were to assume that they started work soon after Galaxy was finished, as well as the game meeting every quality standard that Miyamoto could stand to have in place, 2 years after Galaxy sounds about right.

790
Wait, do you mean this?  Haha, has Nintendo tickled your Brawl Channel thoughts, Jelly?  8D

It would be nice, wouldn't it?  8D

791
Picking up Yoshi Eggs in Super Mario Advance wasn't enough? >U<

When is it EVER enough, Vixy, my dear?  [eyebrow]

Actually, completely new levels would be pretty neat. And fighting against 3D-shaped bosses too~
Birdo, Mouser, Triclyde, Fryguy, Clawgrip, Wart... And maybe new bosses too. ^.^

Now, THAT's more like it!  owob

Anything that could stand to bring back the likes of Mouser, Tryclyde and Wart would be welcome. Poor guys have been all but dropped from recent Mario-mythos, for whatever reason. They, as well as the Koopalings, need to return in style, and SOON!

792
I thought it did, especially with that one line about "bolstering the sales of Wii in Japan".

I would like to think so too. But since the article itself did not do anything to confirm/deny anything of the sort, all we can do is just infer that's what's intended.

After all, while a New SMB 2 for the DS would be the stuff of awesome, it's not like the DS/DSi's sales are slowing down. Hell, even New SMB itself is still selling to this day. The Wii is the system that needs a new hit like a crackhead, and a new, well done, EAD Tokyo-crafted Mario could definitely accomplish that.

I also like the notion that some one at GAF brought up about the notion of a "NPC Mario Sunshine". The reliance on camera control that game requires alone would be a bit much to try and adapt to Wii controls. Doing that much in the way of work for an older game just doesn't seem to be in the cards...

793
i'm doubting it will be a core Mario title. it's probably just another sports game, Mario Party 9, or Play on Wii: Super Mario Sunshine.

If Ninty is really serious about boosting Wii sales, it shouldn't be any of these. One would think that they would invest in something that would have at least as much pull as something like Galaxy, if not possibly be Wii's "answer" to something like what New SMB has done, and continues to do, for the DS. Not even Mario Party has that kind of "pull" that something like a core Mario game would bring to the Wii's line-up, and Ninty has to realize that.

...Of course, this is assuming the Mario is indeed a Wii game. The article doesn't confirm the notion that it is Wii-bound, without a shadow of a doubt.

794
I wouldn't be but so "worried".

This was likely only leaked to Nikkei because Nintendo WANTED it to be leaked. Otherwise, Nintendo Ninjas would have likely "done whatever was necessary" to keep a tight wrap on things.  8D

Reading over those "rumors" at GAF though...my mind only races about what we could stand to see...and if my poor boy, Roy and the rest of the Koopalings will EVER come back, some day...  ;O;

795
... óVó

I dunno. I'll hope for the best, but I don't think the old "Third Pillar" strategy is going to pan out nearly as well for Sony as it did for Ninty.

And FINALLY, it looks like Ninty has joined the "leak" bandwagon. Source is Nikkei News

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=16074419&postcount=128
(Original JP link is here: http://www.nikkei.co.jp/news/main/20090531AT1D2907V30052009.html)

Basically, new Wii Fit is coming and also a new MARIO game is confirmed to be on the way. Both slated for the 2nd half of this year. It would seem that Ninty realizes that Wii sales are slipping, and are on the way to do more to do something about that.

Could it be Super Paper Mario 2? Mario Galaxy's successor? Who knows, but we could stand to find out in a few days...  *o*

Gaming / Re: Namco X Capcom maybe?
« on: May 31, 2009, 03:21:46 AM »
while dealing with Namco-Bandai might be easier than gathering all the Tatsunoko licensees, i think the game's just too old for either party to really give a damn.

This.

The game was bound for "niche-ness", even amongst the Japanese demographic, who would stand to know more of the characters than most Americans would.

Not to mention that, honestly, the game wasn't ALL that good. It's alright, but it gets too "same-y" and too long-winded for its own good.

Rockman Series / Re: Mega Man 2.5D
« on: May 30, 2009, 02:42:55 AM »
I mean, I thought just the 2.5D idea was awesome in itself.  But the Co-OP with Blues...that's literally a dream come true.  Capcom needs to hire this man to put this game on WiiWare, PSN, XBLA, DSiWare, anything.  It would sell so much.

Preach, bruh.  *o*

Just give the guy the license, blessing and funding, and this would be something of beauty.

798
I could stand to see practically ANYTHING at this point. Even Remakes (despite my own personal opinions about such things).

But a DASH3? X9? RM10? These are the kinds of things that would just make me  >0< with joy!

This type of stuff, along with Sonic itself, is "dead" to me.
