Gaming / Re: Capcom's Sengoku Basara (sequel) confirmed for the Wii
« on: August 20, 2009, 04:34:42 AM »
Well, I don't know how many of you guys are as interested in Sengoku BASARA 3 as I am, but in any case, here are some scans. PS3 version ins the one depicted.  >0<

Believe it or not (for those who may have only seen the anime), this is Tokugawa Ieyasu, all "grow'd up". Unlike the last few games, he no longer fights with a spear, instead preferring to fight with his fists. All in the name of trying to restore peace to the chaotic age he lives in, because we ALL know that punching people in the face is the best way of accomplishing such things. Voiced by Tooru Ookawa (Roy Mustang in the first FMA, Joseph Joestar from the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure CPS3 fighter, "BowlMan" from Rockman EXE anime)

BASARA's take on Ishida Mitsunari, the Tokugawa's main opposition in the 1600 "Battle of Sekigahara". By this time, the Toyotomi, Mitsunari's old posse, have been defeated by the Tokugawa. Mitsunari vows vengeance against Ieyasu at all costs. He's reported to be the fastest character in the series yet; no small feat, considering how much in the way of speed demons the likes of Uesugi Kenshin and Fuuma Kotaro already are. Reportedly going to be voiced by Tomokazu Seki (Domon friggin Kashuu from G Gundam, Stahn Aileron from Tales of Destiny and all other appearances).

(to Ieyasu) "I'll never forgive you... I'll never EVER FORGIVE YOU!"

And of course, these guys are still around too. Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura.

Story goes for these guys that they've been put through a number of changes, character-wise.

Masamune has just been handed his first defeat, courtesy of the above Mitsunari. Meanwhile, in light of Takeda "OYAKATA-SAAAAAAMAAAAAAAA!" Shingen's apparent death by this time, Yukimura has ascended to the role of being a leader, and tackling the responsibilities that come with it. Both are promised to have "grown" since their last game appearance, and the Sekigahara Battle would only serve a means for these two to be able to meet again, once more on opposite sides (Yukimura with Ishida and Masamune with Ieyasu).

And as a preview for the next unveil, we see some silhouettes. Obviously, one is Honda "Hondum" Tadakatsu, but your guess is as good as the next guy for who the other, funkier looking individual could be.

The promise is to have an unprecedented amount of characters to play as. And they are also promising that the Wii version will push the hardware of that system as well, and be a cut above the quality of most other Wii games. Seeing how much Capcom already did as such with MH3, that looks likely.

« on: August 20, 2009, 04:02:07 AM »
I don't know why people are still acting like cutting out the GBA functionality of the DSi is that big of a deal. Or at least, like it was that big of a surprise.

I mean, have people forgotten when the latter GBA generations took away GB/GBC functionality? Or hell, taking it back even further, remember when GBC came out, and eventually, "GBC-only" games were released for that system, "forcing people to upgrade"? How is that any different from what's going on now, really?

In both cases it was something to be expected. Companies do these types of things to either a) do more to streamline the portable, as a whole and/or b) to make money by forcing people to upgrade if they want to "stay in the game". Truly, the old saying of how "there's nothing new under the sun" stills holds true, because it's the same [parasitic bomb], just different day and age.

What happened with the DSi, is basically, more of the same. And likewise with the various Sony upgrades over the years. They only did more to copy the example that Nintendo and Sega did years ago, after all!  8D

Well, technically...the Nikkei article never explicitly said it was exclusive, it just said that BASARA 3 was indeed coming for the Wii.

Any way, this makes me happy in way my fellow RPMers can't hope to fathom.  >0< >0< >0< >0<

With this much said, I have no further reason to give a flying [tornado fang] about Sengoku Musou/Samurai Warriors 3. Between Bayonetta and the two different versions of Sengoku BASARA 3, there's nothing that Koei's series can do for me any longer.  8D

And now, the wait til TGS....or whenever Capcom can be bothered to start showing us some VIDEO!!!  >0<

You've gotta admit though, the name Bamboo Pandamonium [tornado fang]ing rocks!

That's about the only thing that really sticks out for me, regarding X8. Beyond that, it wasn't anything that I thought was REALLY all that good, and was I soon back to playing the Zero games again.  8D

I mean, saying that it was a refreshing breath of air after X7, is like saying that getting a slap in the face is better than getting a wholesale ass-whupping. It's definitely an improvement, but I still didn't think it was worth me spending the MSRP for it, when it came out.

New SMB Wii

That's news to me. But, I like the sound of this. I didn't even know SB HAD an anime.

Oh, it does. And for what it was, it was an awesome thrill ride. Go look it up, if you already have not!  owob

Season 2 of the anime will start next year, and will likely do a lot to coincide with SB3's release, not unlike how Season 1 did with the PSP game earlier this year.

THIS BETTER BE

Help me remember please... Will Capcom attend TGS this year?

Oh, they most definitely will. If nothing else, Sengoku BASARA 3 is enough of a thing to have them be in attendance. Anything else will just end up being the stuff of a "nice surprise".  <3

Seriously though, I just wonder what's causing Inafune to drag his feet. As I suspected all along, he's the kinda guy that has both the seniority, as well as the position (head of R&D), that he could have made DASH3 happen likely a good while ago, and yet he hasn't, likely due to his wanton for Lost Planet.

We Mega Man fans are the ones who helped you get to where you ARE, Inafune. Let's see some return favor, eh?

or make the letters smaller. everything should fit in the same speech bubble.

It's just likely something that they weren't able to think of fully, at least by the initial JP release.

Who knows, though. Maybe they'll change their minds by a sequel or whatever.

oh god, don't tease me with things like that.

I say, tease away. Stuff like that is the kind of thing that makes it so that maybe the fans will respond, and we can actually have a mandate/demand for such to happen, one day! 8D

Please say this gets a European release. I LOVED Devil Kings and was irritated when the second Basara game never made it over here.

Honda Tadakatsu/Iron Ox/Hondam is awesome.

Well, here's the score.

There now exists a "Sengoku Basara" copyright in the US.

That, coupled with the notion that Funimation (....) is doing the dub of the recent SB anime, does a lot to point to the notion that Capcom may be giving BASARA a second chance in the States. And if they do so, it may likely be BASARA proper, instead of the "Devil Kings" nonsense that put a stop on things in the first place.

If anytime was a good time, ideally, the 3rd game, which should be an effective "relaunch/rebirth" of the franchise, would be it. It'd be just like how things are operating with Monster Hunter 3.

In any case, I'm just happy that we're getting closer and closer to the time when they should FINALLY let us seem something on the game. Some rumors/reports are pointing to the notion that next week's Famitsu (which will be the start of the schedule of being released on Thursdays, instead of Fridays....no word if the "leaks" will be earlier too), may be the issue that lifts the lid off things, and gets us really pumped for what's to come by TGS.  >0< >0< >0<

Yeah...I can't wait. I've been in love with this series since 2006, and SB2, so for some one like me, this is the kind of stuff that I've been waiting...especially since we had to go through SBX and "Battle Heroes", first! 8D.

This time around, the focus is on Sekigahara, thus the whole "1600" thing from the website. I'm expecting at least a completely revamped Ieyasu and the first time we'll see Mitsunari in this series.  0v0

Well, dunno how much of ya still care, but we now know a bit more! Information relating to Release Dates, that is.

Japanese gamers can look forward to their first date with Bayonetta October 29th.

However, everybody else will have to wait til sometime in January 2010.

While a bit sad, let's be honest; a game like this, as great as it stands to be, would likely get utterly Steamrolled by the competition that stands to come out around the same time. So, for the sake of America, at least, this is a good move.

But for guys like me? I may have to import another release. And the fact that the JP ver. may stand to come with an interesting pre-order bonus doesn't help.

Quote from: 1up
Reserve the game at certain store chains over there, and before the release you'll receive "Rodin's Selection," a special soundtrack CD packaged with a pamphlet inside a neato-looking case, set up to look like a menu from the bar that Bayonetta's partner-in-crime Rodin runs.

The exact contents of the CD are a mystery, Sega only stating that it includes "sounds hand-picked by Rodin himself."

For those of us not keeping up, Rodin is the designated "black man" that you may have seen in some of the trailers. I'm hoping both he and Jeanne may end up being playable characters, with their own playstyles. Or at least, certainly with Rodin. Can't imagine a brutha, who's bald, no less, getting practically nekkid and summoning [parasitic bomb].  8D

« on: July 20, 2009, 02:01:35 AM »
After playing some nice mods based on FreeSpace, I could definitely go for a StarFox based one.

But all the same...stories should not have been run. If you really want to try and get a game out, KEEP THAT [parasitic bomb] ON LOCK until you're ready to release it. Then, it won't matter. A C&D wouldn't be able stop something that's already out n about on the internet.  8D

I'm hoping that Metroid 2 Remake is left alone, as well as this one. Every once in a while, it would be nice to get something like these, which Ninty or any other big company likely won't do.

740
between the both of you guys posts, my head exploded.

You ain't never lied...  >0<

I demand Kirby Wii first. [tornado fang]ing HAL, get with the program already! XD

In the end, unless Sakurai's involved, it's not technically "his problem". Dunno why this game has been held back as long as it has now; we're long past the point of the game possibly being overshadowed by Smash.

But in any case, good for Sakurai. Now, get to work, dammit! And honestly, it would be interesting if say, his team and PlatGames ever got together. Imagine what the likes of Hideki Kamiya (DMC, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and now, Bayonetta) and Sakurai could craft together.   >0< >0< >0<

742
Yeah, I thought about that , regarding the Clown Ball.  I just thought it would be a whole lotta fun to ride around on a Clown Ball!  XD

The Withdraw Shell move makes a lot more sense for all the Koopalings, but for the sake of fun, I'm gonna keep it as the Clown Ball for now!   8D

Overall, I VERY much like your idea. Only a few qualms.

Like Shelly, I also have to contest the clown ball. To me, it could be something tossed out of the Magic Wand (just like when Lemmy did it). Whether it be thru GW-style "random" effects, or maybe you can charge up, and try and get the specific spell you want, through "Playstation Button Magic". 8D I saw Morton and Larry spinning their wands stylishly in NSMBWii, before casting a spell. The "charging" mechanic could work well in this kind of stance.

The other thing is, size differences. You can try and get away with making a number of the Koopalings pallete-swaps, but Lemmy is technically supposed to be QUITE smaller than the rest of his siblings (and he's actually the second oldest too. Poor thing. XD). On the other hand, since Bowser can range in size depending on the game, maybe I'm over thinking...

Finally, I would propose a bit of an interesting thing that could be used to cite another game. In their appearance in M&L:SSS, the Koopalings were accompanied by a very powerful Bob-Ombs to help them deal with pesky plumbers. Maybe, randomly, your "Fake Koopa" trick could sometimes result in enemies getting the [parasitic bomb] BLOWN out of them, because Lethal Bob-omb might pop up, instead of just poofing for minimal damage. I figure a 1/8 ratio would be fair enough for this kind of thing, since this type of attack stands to be VERY good, any way! 8D

743
The popular characters are always put first, while the other characters that we love are put in the side-lines or as trophies. ;w;

I can understand that much. I mean, as much as I would love to see the likes of Mouser or a Koopaling (Roy!) be a playable character reppin the Mario camp, they're not likely. I'm sure Junior is likely to be the next Mario rep for a future Smash, above any one else.

But "Pig!" Ganon is different, in my opinion. It's FRIGGIN' GANON. This is the Ganon most of us grew up with, and accepted as the big bad of the Zelda series, before Ocarina of Time came around and gave us this humanoid Ganondorf, who's still very much a punk-ass compared to the original deal! 8D

With the two Links, both in Melee and Brawl alike, they obviously wanted to make sure that the two iterations of the character, that of Link being a young man, and as a child, were represented, in order to keep both sides of the "Link" argument happy. I merely ask, why wasn't the same attitude applied for Ganon? We could have the punk, for those raised on Ocarina of Time and beyond, and Classic Ganon for the old-school appeal.  And it's not like Smash has a plethora of "true" heavyweights that are clogging the roster, Classic Ganon would have fit in just fine with Bowser and Dedede.  8)

I'll admit, Unicorn does interest me. Especially right on the rebound of that "other announcement" from earlier this year, which resulted in a PS3 game...  8D

But we'll see if it has what it takes to keep me hooked, beyond the obvious "Red Comet" connection that may exist.

If nothing else, I hope a nice Gundam vs. Gundam game comes from it. The suit designs I like. Katoki does it again! 0v0

there is only one good Shonen series.
it is called Hokuto no Ken.

If we don't count JBA (who has since become a Seinen series through Steel Ball Run, as cited above), then yeah, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Souten no Ken's even better, imo, though...

FUNNY WAY TO SPELL BERSERK.

Also a Seinen series, NOT Shounen.  And thank God for that, no WAY Berserk could have been a Shounen series, as is. 8D

Any way...still trying to get back into this series. With Naruto looking to become a Missing-Nin though? Maybe it plays right into what that new Wii game of his, which has him with a "kunai lightsaber" of some sort...?  8D

Just about finished my Sengoku BASARA-a-thon. It's all I got until Sengoku BASARA 3 and Season 2 hit next year, after all.

Might have to give Guin Saga another look, for more manly action.

To me, the story of Shiro and Aina is the truest telling of a romance story, that being one of chance.  That's what love & finding the right person really is all about.  It's about chance encounters.  I honestly thought Domon & Rain would wind up together from the very beginning of G Gundam.  But with Shiro & Aina, going into the series blind, I didn't know.  One could've wound up killing the other, or one could've died saving the other, or they both could've been killed.

Yeah, 08th MS Team ended up being one of my fave Gundam series, because I thought this romance was told quite well, along with a number of other things I thought were done well.

Hopefully, one day, I'll once again see another Gundam series that does for me like 08th did. For right now though, the Gundam fan in me has been largely asleep since mid-way through SEED, and beyond Gundam vs. Gundam and various SRW appearances, has little reason to wake up.  8D

747
I LIKE IT!  owob

Only thing I would change? Why Pink Bunnies for everybody for his Final? In my opinion, this should be opportunity to have a little bit more fun, and make it so everybody would have a specific transformation for the "Dark World" effect. Young Link can be a bunny, but Fox could turn into a lil, quadrupedal fox kit, Bowser into a small box turtle and etc. Would be a nice touch! Or maybe I'm just thinking along the lines of how Goddess Athena turned people into random cute animals in SvC: Chaos...  8D

But, yeah, I really hate how it seems that Ninty has done more to forget all about the Blue Pig that most of us knew Ganon for, in the first place. And the fact that he's been passed over not once, but twice for Smash is still NOT a good look. Sure, we can have two Links, but not the other version of Ganon to caters directly to his roots. Dagnabbit, Sakurai!  -u-'

The moment it was shown to be a Smash clone, those hopes for TF went out the window, in my eyes.

'Sides, unlike the 90s, making a 2D, traditional fighter out of a franchise isn't nearly as lucrative now. Even the likes of the Naruto games have taken a number of liberties that drift away from the "classic" model, and be more newbie-friendly.

Major slap in the face if there's an Usagi outfit for one of the Rabbids instead of the actual character.

As for the Utrominator and old B&W books, granted, but Krang was more memorable.

Well, diff'rent strokes, is all I'll say about Krang.

You see Krang, and you see another fond memory from the 80s toon. I see Krang, and how he just represents another facet of how they bastardized the original TMNT, as Eastman and Laird intended. 8D

Ah well, at least Shredder looks to NOT be an Utrom himself. The one main thing I hated about the 2K3 toon, pre-FF era.  -u-'

I consider myself pretty open to things. I mean, using the Utrom as they've done is fine, as I'm a fan of the classic TMNT B&W book, and that's more of a shout-out to that, than Krang, any way.

...But, not one, but TWO Rabbids?! There was, really, only ONE long-eared galoot who deserved to be in this game, and his name was Miyamoto Usagi!  o//////o

Shoot, I'm starting to wish they would have just used Miis, instead... -u-'
