Decent ideas, but I think that's bit "busy" for what should be a 3D Mario platformer, first and foremost. But hey, that's what the "spin-offs" are for. I'm going to be campaigning hard, until Bowser and/or his family get their own game.

Doki Doki Panic-style game, with Jr and the Koopalings taking center stage? "CardBoard Bowser", with his kids being his various partners for the adventure at hand?

Skies the limits! ^_^

I dunno what the fuss is about Mighty. I mean, really, back in Chaotix, he was just a palette swap of Sonic, with a wall-jump ability.  8D

Any way, the likes of Mighty and Fang are among the only ones I have left who have yet to be sodomized by modern day Sega/Sonic. Frankly, I'd prefer it to stay that way. Or hell, give 'em to the likes of Sega AM, Treasure or P*, and allow them to start anew (and FAR FAR AWAY from Izuka and dem).  8D

Bean the Dynamite?

Bean and Bark both may have appeared in Sonic the Fighters, but technically, they are Sega AM (Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, etc)'s creations, who appeared as "guest characters" in StF, and later in Fighters Megamix.

If AM ever got around to doing another "light-hearted" fighting game starring those two and Honey, I'd be ecstatic. Again, just keep them far away from SegaSonic!  -u-'

Judging by that interview they're fixing the floaty jump physics.  Good to know.

Again, I doubt that much. It's really impossible to fix a game to that much of a degree, when you already have the levels (and the automated scripts thereof!) already fully constructed.

...So basically, ol boy Iizuka went for this whole "DLC" avenue in the first place, because they couldn't see people spending 50-60 bucks for a 2D Sonic game on disc. Oh, and look at that! Useless enemy "air bridges" also returned! Sonic Advance 4 confirmed! 8D

...to pic-quote a fellow of mine on NeoGAF....

What I love is that people who were saying they weren't gonna buy it are now saying they'll buy it.

"Fair-weather" types usually are the most interesting types to witness.

In any case, you have nothing to worry on this end. Still not moved, especially not by a thing that hasn't been really all that special in a little bit more than 15 years~  8D

This being the first time Masoukishin has taken center stage in over 15 years, I'm expecting to get a good deal of stuff. Especially to make up for how they didn't quite stroke it right back in @G.

Listing was taken down at Rakuten, but yeah, it's official!  owob

A REMAKE is upon us! SRW OG SAGA...... LORD OF ELEMENTAL! Long after the retarded copyright wars with Winky Soft, it seems to be OVER!

- 27th May 2010
- Nintendo DS
- 6090yen
- Not done in SD, real robot sprites like the original
- Brand new high quality attack animations
- Arrangement of gameplay systems based on the original game with refinements of more recent SRW games
- Retains all the feel of the original title

BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My one true SRW love...and it's FINALLY getting a REMAKE!

Also, according to my fellow gaffers, some one on 2ch called this in that we were supposed to get a new Masoukishin along with more of the "Booby Saga" games, and then the definitive OG3 would be on PS3.

Seeing how two of these things have now seemed to slide into place....  owob

I find it interesting that Koyasu was actually Kenshiro in the Shin HNK OVA, and now, he's perhaps in a much more fitting role.  owob

Any way! Because you can never get enough manliness!

Yoshi may be star-specific; if not, he'll certainly prove a hassle for some puzzles that need Mario's smaller size and greater mobility.

And yeah, they're definitely borrowing from SMW a little; how long has it been since we've seen saws? SML2:6GC, SMW, and Yoshi's Story.

I would like to think that there would still be means for Mario to hop off, if necessary. Hopefully, that would do more for the notion of Yoshi just staying his green ass put, instead of disappearing or whatever.  8D

But again, everything else looks fine. I'm only concerned about Roy and the other members of the Magnificent 7 at the moment.  8D

It wasn't really a Mario game and it was also a dream, so doesn't really count.

Semantics not withstanding, the fact still remains that, in the end, Miyamoto himself was more involved with DDP (and then it's "make over" 2/USA) than he ever was with 2/JP/Lost Levels (which he wasn't at all). In fact, I believe in one interview many moons ago, he went on to say that he considered it the "real" Mario sequel more than the one that Japanese got. 8D

Hell, for the most part, most Japanese players today know the game by it being "USA" than from its DDP origins. A sign of the times, I say. 8D

To be honest.  I have no problems if Sonic being playable in SMG2 being true.  Mainly because if Nintendo does it right (and they probably will), I want to see the reaction of the Sonic Fanbase.  Must be a nice storm to witness~

While a possibly nice thing to think of...I still dunno.

I mean, at this point, I would have rather EAD invested the time in an actual, true to life "Mario + Sonic" platformer, than for just them to shoe-horn Sonic into a designated Mario game. And just the opposite is also true; I don't want to see Mario in a Sonic game either. So, I'm hoping those rumors don't pan out, and instead hint at possibly something else entirely...

Exactly.

I mean, Junior himself was pretty boring to fight in NSMB for DS. He was a mini-boss in each world, and the same basic strategy applied each time. Jump on the head and GG. Galaxy was an entirely different story, though. He appeared 3 times on his own, and each "fight" was a different one (if you count when he just summoned fodder to fight Mario on his behalf "fights").

So, honestly, there's nothing that could stop them from doing likewise with the rest of the gang. And hey, if they actually gave them written dialogue (like Jr has in Galaxy), it would be another "first" for the original 7.

Besides, I'd like to think that, for all that they went through to not re-introduce the 7, but also give them brand new, revamped designs? That should imply that we should be seeing more of them, now. And shoot, short of like maybe a future iteration in the Mario Baseball series or whatever, how many other venues would be present to utilize the Koopalings?

Then how come I, and many other people, had no problems?

Probably for the same reason that others didn't have such problems in the Rush games. You either liked what you had in that game, or Sega-Sonic Stockholm made you overlook it.  8D

That trailer REALLY made my day. Level design looks leaps and bounds above even the awesome original. Plus, more 2D-tastic segments are <3.

Any way, I have no prob with Jr, in fact, I even started to like the lil tyke the more I got acquainted with him. Of course, I only hope that Roy and the rest of the Magnificent 7 are slated to be here too.

Pre-order has already been made. I just have to wait for that call in the merry month of May.  *o*

...Ok...sorry, but now that I see even clearer, I like the overall look even worse. Everything in the foreground seems to have a sort of "tacky" gloss to it, and then there's hi-res BGs. The looks clash, and it doesn't make for a good overall presentation.

On the other hand, I guess when we're talking about like 5 dollars for an asking price, then y'know what, what the hell? You do you, Sega-Sonic.  8D

I'm looking forward to using the Crossbone.

On that note, I wonder if Seabook will be able to join Char in having two different aliases of himself in the same game (since Seabook was in CrossBone too, as Kincaid). That should make for interesting dialogue.... 8D

New report that sheds a bit more light.

Quote
Namco Bandai announced its new Gundam VS arcade game at the AOU arcade event on Friday. The full name of the game is "Gundam Extreme VS." Extreme versus what?

Actually, the "Extreme" part of the title appears to be the theme for the game's development. Producer Ryuichiro Baba, speaking at a stage event at the show promised "extreme evolution" for the series with the new title.

The first area of evolution is in the game's graphics. Previous titles have run on the PlayStation 2-based System 246 board. The new game ups the horsepower to the PlayStation 3-based System 357 board.

Namco Bandai shared some images of the game with the press. It's unclear if these are actual screens or concept images.

The basics of the game will remain the same, with a standard eight-way joystick and four button setup along with the 2on2 gameplay for which the VS series is known. According to a report at Impress Watch, the game will focus on ground-based combat and do away with space combat. Baba said to expect additional functionality appropriate of the "Extreme Evolution" theme.

Expected of any Gundam game, Namco Bandai is already making a big fuss over the new Mobile Suit additions. Baba said to expect a number of Mobile Suits that have not appeared in past VS titles. The Impress Watch report claims to have seen Zudah from MS IGLOO and Crossbone Gundam X1 from Crossbone Gundam in in the AOU trailer. Both of these would be firsts for the series.

Gundam Extreme VS is set for Fall 2010 release. However, players will get an early chance at the title through location tests, which Baba said to expect for the summer.

Well, no hope of 0G combat for us. Ah well... 8D

On the other hand, if they're really making that much of a fuss over the fact that they've got so much more horsepower to play with, I wouldn't be surprise if that would effectively close the book on a PSP port altogether. But we'll see...

Well, I said it because SJ was supposed to be SMT4 proper if I remember that quote correctly :P

Nah. As a friend of mine put it, it may be even more proper to say it's "SMT3 proper", since it basically does more to be what SMT3 could have been, if it was made on the SNES/PSX generation. 8D

How great would it be if this entire game, right down to the name and the flaws, was carefully planned out by Sega in advance just to troll the fanbase?

After the masterful levels of trolling that were OBVIOUSLY in place for the likes of "Black Knight"? Should there really be any doubt? 8D

Sonic really could benefit from a Sega AM2 style TLC and work ethic. A pity that's probably as far from the realm of possibility as could be expected.

I mean, SERIOUSLY though. How can the same company that provides sweet nectar like RGG/Yakuza, Valkyria Chronicles, Virtua Fighter and making deals with P* on one hand, be content to shovel out Sonic crap with the other? How can such a company be so lopsided...?  -AC

I mean, Quatre's best line in the show came from when he was in the Wing Zero...

"You're afraid of dying, aren't you guys?  In that case....YOU SHOULDN'T BE FIGHTING AT ALL!"

Yeah, I remember that.

Still amuses me how, some how, Quatre was able to just lie low for a while, and builds an uber Gundam with a wack-ass piloting system, seemingly with little to no outside help. I mean, granted, he was wealthy. But where was able to even secure the resources necessary to BUILD such a thing?  8D

Quote
But yeah, it would be pretty awesome.  They did it with DW: Gundam 2.

To be fair, smaller roster of characters in DWG2. That's why this thing worked in a number of the past Gundam Vs. titles, because the overall cast was smaller.

Now we stand to be getting a roster that could be STARTING in the 50s, this game. That'd be a whole lot of script writing and voice acting to have done...  8D

Blues has the clue.

^ Yeah, pretty much this.

Again, Sega could have just AVOIDED THIS WHOLE GYAT DAMN MESS...if they had only gone with something else besides "Sonic 4". The game would have had a chance to be judged on its individual merits (or if it was attached to something like Rush/Advance, relative to those series). Instead, they didn't. Now they're paying for it.

It's not just Sega, though. Plenty of others have learned the hard way what happens when you just attach a name to a series all "willy-nilly". Or do we really need to bring up the likes of some of Capcom's own mistakes, like "Final Fight Revenge" and "Final Fight Streetwise"? 8D

Gaming / Re: New Gundam Vs. title countdown

Certainly would be nice, but then that would basically give rise to the notion that people will want the option to put whomever they want in whatever suit. And I doubt Capcom or Bamco are willing to be bothered with that much in the way of work (much less paying the seiyuu that much more in the way of additional lines). 8D

Still, that would be so awesome, if only so that we could hear the likes of Amuro shouting out "SHINING FINGER" and the like!  8D

Now if only I can get my Tallgeese II and Trieze!  XD

As much as I love Treize, and would like the opportunity to have him go against the elder Frost Brother from X, he should NOT be in before poor Quatre and Sandrock. One of the friggin main characters of W, and he couldn't even be added in w/ Wufei and Nataku in the Plus Port. That's shady right there!  8D
