Don't worry. There's enough cardboard for everyone~ :3

Also some Ubuntu related things.

I like how the article writer assumes that Ubuntu means a PC is running, not that Wii U just happens to run on a platform that is Ubuntu friendly.

Well, me and a few friends decided to mess around with NSMBU and we had a blast playing through the entire game (Jesus, all of the dick moves we did to each other was priceless to say the least)

Anyways, I might go pick up some games while mine's on the way in the Mail. Anyone got suggestions for games? (I'm avoiding ZombiU by the way because I really don't like that game, more L4D2 over that game by all means.)

Wild Arms, Zelda, or Lufia.

Does this thing have Gamecube controller and memory card ports?

No. And it does not play Gamecube discs.

Better than the alternative: staring at a repetitive loading screen.

And we all know what that does, it makes people unplug their console for some reason.

PS:

Hello,
Thank you for writing. I can certainly understand your concerns. I can confirm that Wii U has an "Auto Power-Down" feature, which automatically powers down the system after a set amount of time. However, the amount of time can be adjusted (or even completely disabled) in the system settings of the Wii U console. For more information about this feature, be sure to check the following page on our website:
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/system_settings.jsp?menu=auto_power_down&submenu=wup-settings-ht-auto-power
If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to write back.
Sincerely,
Alex Schuster

5 GB mandatory Firmware update at-launch.  Which cannot be interrupted whatsoever, or you'll have to restart the entire download.

I repeat: 5 GB mandatory Firmware update at launch.  Which cannot be interrupted whatsoever.  Or you'll have to restart the entire download.

Do you know what it does?  I'll tell you what it does.  It enables the web browser, Nintendo Land, and other online features.  Oh, and let you play games.  Probably.

So, to reiterate: Mandatory 5GB firmware update to enable the most basic of functions.

Way to go, Nintendo.  Way to go.

Wasn't the "5GB" Number just a remark by some guy on twitter that some news blogs decided to quote or even repeat?

Also, normally the firmware for a released system can be months old. By doing this they can insure that they can keep developing the firmware up until the actual release day. It's not a complicated process. You tell it to start, and you go eat something. Watch some TV or some internet videos. Play Monopoly or Chess. You should be glad it's not as complicated as installing Windows. With that you have to press "Next" or "OK" every once in a while. I would hate to see the dismay if Nintendo required that.

I heard its actually more like 1.5 GB.

Anyway, LOVE the Transfer process.

So... Pack-in Nintendo Land doesn't come with a Club Nintendo code.

Great logic nintendo, people put that on their 'Intend to buy' list and now its going to just [tornado fang]ing sit there.

How does that even work? Are there two different programs that run on both systems? I wanna say it uses WiFi, but then why is the SD card needed? I guess this is a bonus for people who didn't trade in their Wii to get the Wii U and instead just bought the Wii U.

About the Intend to Buy thing, email or call Nintendo. They make mistakes sometimes, but if you take the time to call or email them and be polite about it, they are usually happy to help you to a solution.

I [tornado fang]'d my laptop pretty hard by turning it off during a Windows update

Your laptop should be fine. The only thing affected by turning off the Laptop during Windows Update would be the Hard Drive and the files on it.

I'm not upset, I got so much out of that post.

Anyway, got it hooked up, this update is taking a lifetime to download.

Unplug it.

PS: Don't unplug it, only stupid people unplug things during a firmware update.

Can anyone confirm the extent of the usability of the Wii U Pro Controller and/or the Wii U Gamepad on a PC or Android device via USB or Bluetooth. Also, note what Bluetooth adapter you are using, or Android Device.

8GB for a game? If I weren't so aware of the problems with Dual Layer DVDs, I would ask if they planned on releasing some games as DVDs, much like the PS2 had CD-ROM games. Either way, when I do get one, it will definitely be the one with the highest internal storage. Unless I can run games from my SD card. It'd be really nice if I could load any game I bought physically from the SD or internal memory(Which is probably also SD).

I still want to see how much connectivity we can acheive with a Wii U Gamepad via Bluetooth on a PC or even mobile devices.

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us about Wii U! I can certainly appreciate your curiosity about this upcoming console and your desire to determine what online information is rumor and what is fact. While I know you were hoping we'd be able to give you a set answer, the Wii U operations manual and details regarding the system settings have not yet been made public. What this means is that we do not have information to provide you with regarding the possibility of a setting like you described.

At this time, I can only encourage you to stay tuned on our website (http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu
) as this is where you'll find official announcements regarding Wii U. As the release date continues to draw nearer (November 18th, 2012), I'm confidant that more news will be posted.

Sincerely,

Karen Johnson

IGN recently reported that, by default, if you leave a game running that the console turns itself off and yuo lose your progress.
I was wondering if there was any truth to this, or maybe they just made a user error.
