That still looks pretty sexy. Of course, my knowledge of the inner workings of computers is limited at best, but it still looks pretty cool by my book.

SSDs make up for a large part of the price. That one 2TB PCI-e card, by itself, costs 4 times what any normal PC should ever cost.

This is more towards something I'd pay for.

From what I've heard, that looseness is the alternative to hinge cracking.

Flash's response applies, but more specifically, what I meant is that the 3DS's wireless communications (if you do not manually turn the switch off) are always active, due to the Street/Spot Pass features, Friend List tracking, and such.  That's not the same thing as, say, leaving a PSP/DSi's wireless enabled all the time in games that don't actually use it.

Again, read a Pokemon Black/White review that mentions the C-Gear and battery life in the same sentence; same thing.

I know it's not the same. It's worse. You have a platform that was constantly advertised as heavy in use of WiFi. And then the person leaves the WiFi on and wonders where the battery is going? It's not rocket science. Some people's children.

Aside from a slight peeling on the corner of the serial number sticker, mine's perfect.  'course, I don't know what kind of problems you're talking about.

That Serial Number. Do they know that's the only way we can redeem the warranty and other things? And they purposefully make it easy to rub off so they can force you to buy a new one out of your own pocket? Seriously, Cell phones have been putting it in a safe place for about a decade. Get it together Nintendo.

Red ring kind of problems. A brick. It's said to be happening on a few 3DSes, and a few haters decided to spin it into "57% failure rate".

I'd still like to know if anyone at all is having trouble, and if so, what kind.

-.53%

I really must say. That is one SEXY setup.

I have to admit, no matter how crazy I aim for, I can't seem to choose Intel and Nvidia hardware. Even though the price would go up by about 5,000 USD. I'm just not familiar with them enough to determine which is better. A major temptation with these sorts of builds is to just choose the most expensive parts. But, in the case of RAM, it was a set of 2 2GB RAMs. Obvious problem there. Although, I do throw in some superfluous spending by getting 2 sets of 2 4GB RAMs instead of a set of 4(I get 2 fan thingies that way!). And mathematically, a 6th SSD would cost more than a BD Drive, but I had to have an optical drive. Luckily it was a BDXL-R, so that filled the requirement for excess. I'm not even sure those NICs even work for "standard internetting stuff". For all I know it uses a special protocol not meant for LAN/WAN at all. Originally the build had 2 Workstation GPUs and 2 Gaming GPUs, with the excuse that, "They could be swapped out," but I decided I had to decide on one. I sided with the theme of excess. The specs were lower in some areas, but my badly done research showed the Workstation cards had a lot more power for accurate rendering, dispite having a lower clockspeed and slightly lower OGL version. My previous attempt at this assumed that having a set if SSDs and a set of insanely priced HDDs was sufficiently excessive. In this build I got as many PCI-e SSDs as would fill the remaining PCI-e slots and then filled up the SATA connectors with  the most expensive SSDs for SATA. I might have done some slight quality comparisons among the top most expensive SSDs and sacrificed price for quality. If I really wanted to, I could have got PCI-e SATA adapters and filled those up, or even PCI SATA adapters. But I already had 7 SSDs totaling 5.25TB. No need beating a dead horse, plus, buying those NICs I wasn't even sure would perform the function I assumed they would perform seemed to have priority.

tl;dr
This is a totally awesome build, but you could probably lower some specs and save about 10,000 USD.

So do you build computers for people, or do you have enough disposable income to get a new pc every few months?
If you think I, or anybody else, would actually pay for that setup, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.

Hard to say.  There were lines, but the system didn't appear to be the instant-sell-out-insanity that the Wii was by any means.  All I can say is, I wish you the best.
What people are complaining about most right now is the battery.  And I'm seriously wondering how much of that is due to the always-on wireless (similar complaints arise with any DS model while playing Pokemon Black/White with the C-Gear on).  Need to experiment with that sometime.

Always on? The model at Best Buy had a WiFi switch that you could flick and it turned of the light near a WiFi symbol.

I'd prefer something similar to Steam or PSN. Nintendo just has some catching up to do. They're still stuck in a time when consoles didn't break.

At first I thought it was another camera, but given the way it projects light and actually tries to capture 3D space with 2 cameras, I have to give it some respect.

As far as using no controller, I can't think of a better way than to try to emulate the human sense of spacial awareness. Of course, the Wii has superior motion sensing via handheld devices. The Wii lacks in how the camera works due to it relying on a stationary IR light source, while the Kinect processes image data from a stationary point and sees the entire room. Combine the Accelerometers and Gyros of the Wii Remote with the stereoscopic image capture of the Kinect and it'd be great.

But this is just hardware talk. All this means nothing if developers just throw wagglin stuff at consumers.

PS: PS Move is a little of both, fails to be superior in any way, as a sum of its parts, or the parts themselves.

Mount the make the Kinect portable and then you're playing with power.

From what I remember the Kinect uses 2 RGB cameras and a single camera for IR.
I just checked wiki and it seems there are 2 IR cameras and 1 RGB.
Also, it seems to output its own light(IR or something).

I say we make a stereoscopic IR/RGB setup that shoots out it's own light or something.Maybe use significantly different wavelengths of IR for each "eye". I'm not certain if it could handle independent movement from each "eye" and still realise a 3D space. But I'm certain a rigid glasses mounted system might work.

PS:

A Multi-Array Mic?
I've seen a multi-mic array and an array with multiple mics, but a multi-array mic? How many arrays does it have? How many mics per array? Do those mics have multiple arrays too?

8D

Also, I don't think it should be compared to the I Phone/Pad/whatever. The games on those platforms don't have the same design philosophy or audience. Not to mention the different input mechanisms.

I was gonna quote that. You beat me to it.

"Relies exclusively on cartridges"

That word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

PS: I grew up with SNES and NES.
He looks older than me.

Did he wait until he was 20 years old to start growing up?

Maybe they only care about 3DS piracy and are letting DS and DSi piracy/homebrew slide.

Neither is 72 degrees Fahrenheit, degrees Celsius, or degrees Rankine.

But the star isn't doing stuff on those days. Those days are normal.

If that K is supposed to be Kelvins, I'm going to scream, because Kelvins are NOT in units of degrees.

I'm not to keen on stars doing stuff, but 15 kelvin is not the temperature of a star doing something.

I just think that giving homebrewers a console capable of basic stereoscopic 3D is gonna do some CRAZY STUFF for mods and other things.

Imagine if someone spent the time to code it to interpret Mode 7.

I wonder if anybody will make any nice SNES emulators.

One thing I hated about MKWii was no 1 vs 1.
I just wanted to race my brother.
But no! There had to be 8 or 10 other PCs.
They better fix that in MK 3DS.

1196
I just spent about 2 hours on a bus to go to a Best Buy with a demo.

The buttons are nice and clicky. I like them.
Home Start Select buttons feel nice.
I pushed the power button 3 times trying to pause. Who decided that we need to be able to turn off our 3DS as fast as we pause it? Also, who decided it also needed to be in the same area?
The stereoscopy is nice. All they had was Pilotwings, but it was nice and clear.
I noticed that when I slid it down to Minimum, the screen flickered. That suggests that a signal is sent to the 3DS itself to let it know it's in "2D" mode.
The Slidepad felt like a nicer version of the PSP nub, but I am still unable to confirm if it is actually built different or just better made/lubricated.
