Mirby got a defeated look on her face... and then kicked the tomahawk out of Jarby's hands. She sheathed her blade and grabbed the tomahawk. "Neither." She beheaded the monster with his own weapon, knowing it probably wouldn't do any good. Using this opening, she ran to a distant corner and focused all her energy into finding the weak spot. She opened her eyes, and suddenly there were suits all over her foe's body. "Gotcha."

What I did to learn was start by editing a sprite long ago (in my case, LttP Link). Then I tried making a character I actually knew (changed Spring Man to Bender in RM7FC). And from there, I looked at a base sprite Wily made for me (WombatMan). I'm still editing sprites (Karma Woman is an edit of Metal Man) but it's working out well.
