But as a matter of risk, why take a chance on an entity that refuses to take a chance on me?  It's more the cancellation of the Prototype than the cancellation of Legends 3 itself that has a lot of fans, myself included, pissed off.  That was their supposed gauge of interest, it was effectively done, and they backed out for the sheer hell of it when they could have had the only non-ported 3DS e-Shop game in existence (STILL).  Even from the "we're only in it for money" standpoint, you'd think they would have released what they had in the Prototype and cancelled after the point.
The company knows what fans want. They don't give it to them, because they'd rather invest in giving to the masses than the fans. But if the fans stop buying, they give the message that maybe Capcom should be working for the fans. The only way you can hurt them, is through your wallet.

It's what I'm hoping happens through DmC. I haven't seen a single person who says "I want to buy this game". It's all fans saying they're pissed off, or people who haven't had deep contact with the franchise going "It doesn't look bad, quit whining". But nobody's outright saying they want it.
If it actually tanks, and fans don't turn out to be little shits who buy it anyways for sheer curiosity of how the game turns out to be, then Capcom will go back to what we loved. But I got kind of a bad feeling that blindly finding out what comes next is more important for fans than actually caring about the quality of the franchise they like. >_>

Nintendo making bad games
They're not making bad games. Just basing their entire lineup out of sequels and ports. I really, really like Nintendo and their stuff, but I started liking them because of their amazing new ideas and concepts. If they go stale, like Tim Burton, George Lucas and Bioware before them, it'll be bad.

I'd just like to see fans going "I'd love to see something new from this company" instead of "I'd love to see a sequel to this obscure game I love". Nobody really does that.

Taking cover does not make a game "less hardcore". It can very well be as fun as the next game. Take the Uncharted series for example. Naughty Dog really knows how to mix motion-capture and live dialog along with seamless transitions from cutscene to gameplay without any problems. The incredibly realistic environments, which can even further be demonstrated in 2, use climbing and platforming mechanics mixed with cover-shooting action that immerses the player into the game.

Obviously, it's not an entirely realistic game, what with Drake climbing pillars and hinges through a [chameleon sting]ing -200 degree blizzard. But the point I'm trying to make is, taking cover adds a great sense of realism to a game. I use Uncharted as an example because it's the most true-to-realism shooter I know. I don't think a normal human being would run out in the middle of gunfire without getting capped a several dozen times. This is the realism Uncharted portrays. Taking cover, seeing where your enemies are, and planning who you are going to attack first. The latter becoming much more beneficial when you choose the "Crushing" difficulty setting. I can guarantee you right now, you will not make it out alive in the first Uncharted, if you just shoot whoever you want to shoot. The enemies are much more strategic and some even run right at you guns blazing, so you really have to know where and when to take action.

Believe it or not, there's (gasp!) strategy in taking cover, aiming properly and taking out first who would cause the most problems for you. I'll admit, It doesn't apply much to "Normal" mode, but when the difficulty spikes, It gets barbaric. The only problem I would say I had with the Uncharted games is that they're incredibly linear, but it fits appropriately with the platforming elements. There are a ton of more difficult cover-shooters than Uncharted, but the story, motion-capture and physical struggles that your character goes through make taking cover from open gunfire the only realistic option in this circumstance.
And with all that, typical gameplay still comes down to peekabooing. Don't get me wrong. I like Uncharted, but when every single shooter starts obeying a sinble norm that makes it much less fast-paced and too reliant on chest-high walls, I start getting a bit tired of that mechanic. It was amazingly fun in Gears, and Uncharted is still quite good and fast-paced. But it wouldn't make the slightest bit of sense in Space Marine, where the very point, the very thing about Space Marines, is that they go berzerk in smooth and professional ways. Spartans of the fictional sci-fi age. The game's supposed to be played like a Dynasty Warriors where you tactically retreat a few meters sometimes in order to shoot some bolter rounds into a few greenskins, only to rampage back in and take out a couple with an execution.

Much like the internet, these days every game seems to be a rehash of a rehash.

Skyward Sword looks promising though, one of the VERY rare gems these days.
Agreed. Hopefully, it'll play as well as it looks. But bad official Zeldas don't exist, so it'll at the very least be fun.

This 23-page feature on Zelda in the new Game Informer is pretty epic.
Wish I had that over here. Whyyyyy did all portuguese gaming comics die? We used to have some pretty good ones, too.

Looking at screenshots and details on paper kinda feels special. I dunno. You can also treasure a walkthrough way more.

I have to admit it is pretty hard to get excited about Fire Emblem after what happened with Heroes of Light and Shadow...  Soon as they announce a U.S. release, then I'll be jumping off the walls and stuff.

I could easily see Monster Hunter Tri-G skipping us, but I would certainly hope that 4, being a full sequel, would make the cut.  Yay for stradle-stabbing wyverns!
4 will come out. I'm more than certain, due to it being a big game, with a big reputation. They wouldn't risk it just making it for a single region.

Some RPG's better come here because those are pretty much the only games that I play.
That explains alot.

I guess we'll see on TGS. I'm expecting at least a big trailer.

If they did that it could affect battery benchmarks. If it uses a battery I have a feeling it could have some other purpose.
Better be a damn good purpose if it's gonna need a whole AAA battery just for it.

You're right, I don't know much about this series. All I asked was a simple question, no one asked for your personal opinion.

You don't like "peek-a-boo" shooters? Fine. There's no harm in speculating one's ideas.
There is an OVERFLOW of cover-based shooters in the market, and every single game nowadays throws regenerative health into the mix just to make it easier on the players. I'll just reply with a video about a similar-mooded shooter coming out soon:

Seriously, what the [tornado fang] am I missing out on?! Not a goddamned thing, that's what. Once again, Capcom can rot. Asura's wrath? Dragons dogma? Don't give a [tornado fang] about those.  And dont get me started on the DmC reboot. LOL. That shits a joke. I know some of you are thinking, "He'll buy it anyways." No I really won't. Nintendo is still making good games and there seems to be a resurgence of good superhero games. I think I will be set for awhile. I can wait until a new Mega Man game comes.
Those are actually two original games that good teams are making. Good teams that give a [parasitic bomb] about games (the guys who made Asura's Wrath stated they REALLY wanted to develop Legends 3 after it was cancelled) and games that are actually NEW things. You know, not ports, remakes, sequels or spinoffs.

I'm not buying Capcom stuff, but don't say we're not missing out. Those are the two titles that they actually seem to be giving a [parasitic bomb] about. Specially Dragon's Dogma, in which they are sinking quite a bit of cash.

Everybody just stop posting. TGS is only a bit away. As soon as we get confirmation, we'll fill the thread up a bit more. But for now, this is just filling stuff up with useless replies.

Jesus, Fright Night was such a fun movie. Chekov and The Tenth Doctor: Vampire Slayers. It's so damn fun.

Just... why can't they plug it in? I don't think it would drain the 3DS' batteries that much. It's embarassing, really.

I didn't know taking cover was cowardly. Nothing wrong with a little Guerrilla Warfare strategies.

And health restoration is... health restoration. They're not that badass, British accents aside. 8D
We have ENOUGH peek-a-boo shooters where all you do is take cover and wait for the enemy to pop out his head. A few years ago, you restored health by killing enemies or using health packs, and you used cover by getting behind things. This is the same thing. Plus, Orks run at you while shooting, so no chance for something like that. You obviously don't know your 40k. Space Marines are among the most badass of all characters that ever walked through fiction.

Right, what I meant is, come equipped for guns blazing. That way you don't get [tornado fang]'d in the boss fights, and its nice to always have the option to pop a few heads instead of grinding your teeth while waiting for an opportunity to pass without killing anyone.
Guns blazing is good for bosses, and when you have a ton of enemies stacked together. Heck, even then, it's best to throw a concussion grenade and sneak on by. But yes, bosses are one of the big things about the game that could be much better.

...specially since you can beat them in 10 seconds by going up to them and mashing the Typhoon button.

It's the way to monetize free games. None of it bears any importance on actual gameplay. It's only on asthetics.

I played the demo on my PS3. It definitely is really fun, but is there a hide/cover button? It might be nitpicky of me, but I can't help but feel like I need to take cover in the middle of gunfire. It feels a little awkward just rolling around the place trying to find somewhere to hide and restore health.

(Their suits look like Federal Ride Armors)
NO. Space Marines are walking cover. They are the biggest badasses in the universe. Just take natural cover in stuff that isn't chest-high walls and learn how to dodge.

...and there's no health restoration. Just shield reload. You want health restoration? You have to perform executions on enemies, make them badass.

The game is all about having big balls.

Calling it perfect seems like tempting fate, with overhype disappointment if nothing else. But it is a thoroughly solid and basically enjoyable game, though I strongly recommend doing a guns-ablaze run the first time around, rather than pacifist sneaking (since that is helped so much by knowing where stuff is and what augs would've helped in exploring).
What? No! The main thing the game's fun at, is sneaking. This game has what's probably the best and most simplistic sneaking mechanics since MGS, it's VERY fun to play around with the enemy AI, you gain A LOT more experience by sneaking, and the fun thing about the game, is that you do not treat it like a guns blazing FPS, but like an RPG. There's exploration, a ton of sidequests and missions, secrets in every corner, augmentations galore... the fun thing is exploring an unknown world.

Not to mention the game is made so you go down with a single shotgun shot, and about two or three shots from other guns. The regenerative health doesn't actually start regenerating until you stop fighting and wait quite a bit (not made for mid-combat) and the enemies will overpower you every single time. The game is made to be played on the Give Me Deus Ex difficulty mode, and it comes out as the most rewarding and amazing of all plays. Be stealthy when it's required, have fun with guns when you gotta, kill the people you want in your own morality choices (I made a point to spare innocents, kill terrorists and knock out gang members/security forces when I played. The choices and morality of the people around you is very visible, as well as how much they want to actually fight you). The world lives and breathes, and you can experiment with all of its things as you go through the game. But don't go guns blazing. The LAST thing you want, is to go guns blazing.

How long Valve and Steam stay that way will be a testament to the industry, I think.
Aside from having probably about 80% of the entire PC games market, and being one of the most successful game companies of all time, I can tell you that the day Valve decides to become corporate, is the day Gabe and EVERYONE who works at Valve quit their jobs. It's kinda like a Nazi party deciding to go jew. It just isn't likely, due to their way to work, success and ideals.

Some other developers can be credited for that too. You know CdProjekt? Self-owned too. They dedicate themselves not only to making amazing games that push the normal pc standards like the Witcher series, but they have a website call GOG, Good Old Games. It's a website that not only sells classic game installers to a person, completely legally and updated to new operating systems, without DRM, but it also gives them the LEGAL RIGHT to own those copies, and make any copies of the software for personal use as necessary.

It's been having quite alot of success, and it won't go away anytime soon. We can also count a ton of other companies who have recently tried to reach out for people's decency and good standards as a way to go. Not all of these companies are filled with people who just want to make money. It's their job, yeah. But in some, you can see that they have this job because they love making games, they love creating things people like, and they love being part of a team who cares, in the middle of an industry of corporate monguls.
