YES I SHOULD. Perhaps I will make one.

You have to get Slot-2 card, like EZ Flash V 3in1 (I think there are few other too). Without that it's simply impossible. When you get that, you just play it (almost) like any other game.
Dammit. Gonna be tough to get those.

That discussion in DCAU thread, about Countdown being horribly bad, has reunited me with my memories of...

Well... I once went to ask /co/, about what Doctor Doom story should I read.
Someone mentioned Ultimates 3... and since I remember reading Ultimate X-men once upon a time(and lovin' it) I decided to give it a shot.

Oh boy, what a wild ride that was.
I was [tornado fang]ing facepalming through the whole volume, and let me tell you something... it lead to one of the worst things ever created.

ULTI-[tornado fang]ing-MATUM!

They killed off most of the Ultimate X-men and, and... Jesus.

LOOOEEEEEBBBBBBBB!!!

I'm still sometimes raging about this, especially when I see the new "stunts" Loeb pulls off.
Am I alone?

Jeph Loeb. Now there's a tale to tell. Gather around, ye kiddies.

You see, Jeph Loeb used to be good. Heck, he used to be great. He's called "superstar writer Jeph Loeb" exactly for the good stories he wrote back then. Batman: The Long Halloween. Batman: Dark Victory. Superman For All Seasons. His colaborations with Tim Sale was really well done, and they brought a spirit to the DC world which would mold certain Batman mysteries for years AND YEARS to come. Hush was also a great story, no matter how many naysayers might call it nowadays. Without editor interference, it would have been great, and it would have brought back Jason Todd in a much better way. Problem is, Jeph started to get kinda stale. His first arc on Superman/Batman kinda showed us that his stuff wasn't really getting better with time. And then, something happened. His son died.

Now, I got a small theory of mine. All genius comic book writers basically go batshit insane one day. Frank Miller had 9/11 as a catalyst. Jeph Loeb had his son's death. Garth Ennis... [parasitic bomb], I dunno what happened to him, but there's gotta be some explanation from how he went from making the very best arcs of John Constantine, to writing snuff [parasitic bomb] in The Boys.

When the Ultimate books started selling better than the 616 main universe, the editors got a bit upset. So they sent the Ultimate people to 616, and made Loeb do the Ultimates 3 series. Which, after the awesome which was Ultimates 1 and 2, was complete ASS. And Ultimatum might as well be the very worst even in comic book history. It's basically Jeph Loeb [tornado fang]ing everything over. EVERYTHING. Murders, people acting out of character, MORE murders...

So, yeah. Poor Jeph Loeb. Pity him, people. For he was once a great writer.

Oh, it's on now, bee-atch!

Let's see...

...

...

...

...

Uh, let's just go for Super Mario 64.

- Controls can get quite slippery at times, making it hard to get to the right places. (this seemed fixed in Sunshine and Galaxy)
- Some stars are quite a chore to catch.
- The levels are sometimes messy and unordered, seeming more like a planet in the middle of nothingness, unlike lush and beautiful worlds we expect to see from Mario games.
- Playing the final boss 3 times isn't much fun, and it's hardly a surprise when you know what to expect.
- The camera is hardly perfect, and a bit tough to control on tighter spaces.
- Alot of places seem empty and lifeless, and others, enemies are put there aimlessly, simply to serve as inhabitants of a corner you don't visit, just to fill up space.
- Too many situations where you're in a string of platforms hanging from nowhere.
- RIDICULOUSLY bad bonus for getting all stars.
- Why is there a story in the first place?
- Hub is empty and kind of aimless, couldn't it be replaced with a simple menu? Secrets don't really make much sense if it's so boring to explore.

NOTE: We are NOT going to argue these thingies. Don't even reply directly to any of them This is just to show you that any game can be made to look bad or good, if you got the time to look up annoying stuff in it. =P

(Except for Gunstar Heroes. I can't find a single [tornado fang]ing flaw with that one)

Thankfully, yes. I have an original R4 with Wood R4 firmware. Clean GBA rom, loaded straight from WoodR4 into ram, without any patching/exploader/anything.

yay, 300th post!
Say, what's the best way to play GBA roms on a DS? I've been aching to replay Mother 3 for a long time, got the guide and everything, but I'd really like to play it properly. I only have a simple R4. Any homebrew to help me play from that?

Countdown to adventure was part of countdown to final crisis. And it was the only series he wrote by himself. Thus the reason I thought you where referring to that series in particular. As far as countdown goes, it made perfect sense in the context that it wasn't supposed to make sense because of it taking place on an alternate earth/earths. I thought it lead up to final crisis quite well. Then again ignore me, i'm a DC whore.
I'm a gigantic DC whore, and Countdown to Final Crisis made no sense. Officially, this is what happened:

Grant Morrison thinks up Final Crisis, Didio accepts it. Morrison asks people not to use the New Gods in the next few years so he can make a real blast with his storyline.

...Didio, still mad that 52 didn't end up the way he wanted it to be (and was incredibly good), deems Countdown "52 done right", and makes it so it has a Death of the New Gods plot, along with tons of clusterfucks, and little to none Morrison involvement.

...it ends up in absolute [parasitic bomb], and most has to be retconned. Final Crisis is still ONE HELL OF A BOOK. One of the best comics I've ever read, and still the one comic I own which has post-it notes on every single page explaining interpretations of every single sign and event.

VERY doubtful it will be anything that significant.
Who knows? Whole game's out of the bag, so they have to change something significant.

Ya know, they should have continued certain origional stories instead puking out licensed-based ones each year with a LEGO Star Wars set each year. I got really annoyed when Lego released "LEGO BEN 10 ALIEN FORCE" sets that only mentioned the aliens. Where's the goddamn BENMOBILE!? I really hate Ben 10 because of the "oh my aliens are superior so I'm not gonna talk about other things other than how great my powers are with these guys" bullshit.

Exo-Force DID had a couple of nice sets, even though the story was bland and they never finished the never-ending battle between the drones and the humans.

At least they expanded the LEGO World stories.  ::)

NOTE: Used to be a LEGO Bionicle collector before I got ahold of my first minifigs.
I remember the days of Space Quest. And the green alien bugs that went wowowowowowowowowow. Man, those were some good sets.

Isn't that a given when people discuss a group in general?
Groups in general aren't normally this obcessive. Twilight has what is probably the biggest number of mockeries of its own story that any fiction work has ever had in such a short amount of time. I went to my bookstore the other day, a PORTUGUESE bookstore, and in its very, very limited english book section, there were THREE Twilight parodies. If this happens in a simple small bookshop, I don't want to know how much mockery there is for Twilight all around, because it must number in the hundreds. And somehow, fans are EXTREMELY protective of the story and its characters. The characters are glorified in a way we haven't seen since the advent of yaoi japanese culture. And even that didn't have the rampant merchandising this culture seems to have.

Oh [tornado fang]ing hell.
I saw the photo once of a person holding that head. It's probably one of the most horrible mental images I've ever had in my life. All I can remember is the dog still had a peaceful expression.

Just saying. You can turn up tons of assault and harrassment tales about Twilight fans online. It's like this is some kind of rabid fanbase, and saying anything bad about Edward Cullen is pretty much the same as portraying Muhammad in an unpleasant light. You end up getting hurt. Physically.

No.
The Flickies where a one game thing right? I don't think that outside of the Sonic fanbase many kids would know about them. Also they never gave powers before, why start now?
The Flickies appeared in other games. As animals out of the robots. Small references. And on Sonic 2 for the Master System/Game Gear, when you spun around the sign at the end of a level, several characters could turn up on the other side. Eggman, Tails, Sonic or Flicky. Or a ring. Each one gave a bonus according to something.

Countdown to adventure, right? Never read it. Maybe thats a good thing?
Countdown to Final Crisis. One of the worst stories DC has ever shat out. And since it pretty much 90% contradicts with Final Crisis, it was mostly non-canon.

Hmm, that barely trumps my addition of Sonic fans who browse Sonic message boards!
Sonic fans don't cut dog's heads off because they think werewolves are bad and vampires are good.

well, if anything, Sonic Unleashed's theme, by whatsis name, was pretty good.
It was generic punk, basically.

I'm partial to a bit of both, but what I would very much prefer is just a classic bouncy soundtrack without lyrical or orchestral accompaniment. I've always felt the classic games possessed a vibrant, colourful and child-like charm that recent games have not chosen to or succeeded in replicating. I just think they had a lot more, shall I say, personality than the other games.
I really liked the recently revealed Sonic 4 soundtrack, though. Nothing comparable to Michael Jackson's work, but still pretty good.

In other places of the world, there might be freaky people, but society puts them in place so they keep the stuff to themselves, maybe locked in a drawer in their own rooms. People kinda exercise some common sense.

In the US? Sue anyone you like. Do anything you want. Land of the free means you can think you're an Otherkin and act like an [dark hold] to everyone else because you're the chosen pink dragon of the rainbow kingdom, and when you go back to your world, they'll seeeeee!

Hmm, Unleashed had some ood music, if thats the orchestral you mean- though the world hub theme tended to grate on my nerves eventually.

However, I REALLY miss Crush 40.
They've kinda gotten worse with the years, I think. Although I miss the way they used to be.
