Good evening Gents.

First I would like to state: "I AM BACK."

That's right, I am returning to this site. Though, Given, I did very little other than lurk. You may remember me from such productions as "Winged Warrior" or "Archangel" or the rare "Ray."

I am afraid that my name may have been deleted due to inactivity.

unfortunately, I perceive that joining an online community is far more awkward than it used to be, alongside the fact that the internet is a horribly boring place unless you have an attachment to some kind of clique or group. After trying Facebook, Deviantart, and the chans... I have deduced I may be too old for the internets.

Anyway, I have returned to not post on this fine forum.

Hello.
Hello, person I do not know!

I shall now pretend it's a big deal that you're back and give some fake importance to your arrival.

...welcome baaaack, old friend! 8D

.. You know a good sum of RPM is made of Grammar Nazis right? I knew it was in front of me, but I wasn't PAYING ATTENTION at the time because I'm on my godforsaken laptop, and you know how laptops are notorious for "darkening" certain areas when you are facing in a diffrent position from the screen itself.
I've taught english before, and I tend to be a gigantic grammar nazi, but when on the net, people just gotta mellow down when it comes to casual errors.

...of course, I go [tornado fang]ing BALLISTIC with common mistakes people tend to do. Like saying "viola" instead of "voila", or saying "rouge" instead of "rogue". I just feel like murdering them right on the spot, making a crown out of their bones and feasting on their flesh.

To all naysayers about Brave and the Bold, the show ISN'T meant to be the grim and dark Batman we've had ever since Frank Miller got his hands on Year One, back in the 80's. No, this is about the old-style, more colorful Batman, who many people might think it's "LAWL, FOR KIDS", but has pretty much the same style as any cool cartoon we know and love. It's a Batman who faces bad guys from space, outerdimensional beings, and all kinds of stuff. The Batman we're used to seeing on JLA and stuff, but a bit more playful, with a few more jokes in him. People are just used to the grimdark side of him, but he hasn't always been like that, and the very best Batman has always had kind of a colorful, playful side to him.

And Wayforward makes good stuff, so... let's be hopeful! Plus, we get Blue Beetle in this game! And Plastic Man was also announced a few months back! Yay!

I'd really love to get this, and I might pussy out and break my NO MMO policy for this gem because I get to be a Green Lantern.  It'll really depend on the price as well as my job situation.  If I have disposable income, then perhaps.
GLs really aren't certain to be in as a class... at least YET.

And since you can be a hero or a villain, I'm hoping they introduce at least the option of being either a Green or Yellow Lantern.

I'd go Lantern if I knew that the sing-slinging worked well. So far, the attacks they've shown seem a bit limited. No giant green boxing gloves, at least. But I'm certain they'll work alot more stuff in. Meanwhile, I'll stay with my speedster-isms, and slowly build my Flash Corps.

...ONWARDS TO THE FASTEST NIGHT.

Gaming / Batman: BATB game trailer! (From the creators of Shantae)

Yes, the game's from Wayforward. It's also a 2D sidescrolling beat-em-up, and seems to be pretty damn awesome. I LOVE Brave and the Bold and the wacky way the show is basically a reason to geek out over less known characters in their crazy adventures, so this is a perfect oportunity to check it out. Plus, Wayforward makes awesome stuff. Everybody has a hard-on for Shantae, but A Boy And His Blob for the Wii was the most adorable puzzle game ever. Even their licensed stuff has some charm. Got a great feeling this game will turn out good.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia or Judgement
Already been requested.

I guess I'll do one of Split/Second, from the bits I played.

- No boost. Major flaw on what seems to be the Burnoutiest game ever.
- Cheap unavoidable disasters. Plane crashing in front of me is one thing. Crashing on top of me is kinda cheap.
- Small window of oportunity to set the disasters on some people.
- Turning can get bothersome, why weren't arcade controls implemented?
- Slightly more realistic driving than expected for such an unrealistic game.

Sonic Adventure Battle 2

Ogre Battle 64.

Also, I know you're gonna hate me for not picking newer games but... well, I don't have new favorites.

Also.

My Aquarium. Srs.
Will do of SA2B, didn't play the others.

- Few Shadow levels, when he's supposed to be the big thing about the game.
- Opposite characters don't really get all the cool gadgets the main ones do.
- Timed treasure hunting levels. It's supposed to be about patience and exploration, why TIME it?
- Biolizard is cheap.
- Meteor Herd's "nab 50 rings" on A rank is impossible to do unless you nab one ring and get hit by a meteor at the start, so you can use the return ring to get some more.

New trailer's out. This game is looking AWESOME. I love the fact that you have to choose a power base, one single main power which will be "your schtick". Then you can probably form your own Justice Leagues with friends and go fight bad guys. I'm going speedster in the game (surprise surprise 8D) mostly because I think being way too fast in an MMO is a hilarious option. Probably going evil, though. In the mood for some Zoom-like shenanigans.

Anyone getting this?

Resident Evil 4 and/or 5

Bash all you want i dont care, its my favourite game but some parts of the game are just meh  8D
Alright then. Resi 5, seeing as I played that a shorter time ago.

- SHEVA GET BACK HERE DAMMIT DON'T USE THAT HERB ON ME I'M SAVING IT FOR... DAMMIT
- Shotgun's STILL pretty much the only weapon you'll ever need.
- Game's pretty short.
- Feels harder in the first parts than in the end. Mostly because while the first parts shower you with enemies, the last parts just put you in complcated sceneries with few powerful things that can kill you quick. But then you're all upgraded and YOU call kill them quicker, so it's stupid.
- I was expecting some deep jungle zombie kills... all I got were damn plains.

Both Rush games were developed jointly by Dimps and Sonic Team. In fact, I think Sonic Team's to blame for Marine.
I'm guessing they're also to blame about Rush 1's story and Rush 2's collectables and 3D sceneries to walk around and do nothing in when you could be blazing around in levels.

Am I the only one that thinks that the concept of Pokemon would better work in a turn-based strategy mechanic?
That would actually make the size issue of Pokémon alot more notacle and multiplayer matches of Mewtwo versus Ratatta wouldn't be as even. 8D

Gaming / Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (Wii, PS3, 360, iPhone)

There is a difference, though.

The spin dash (at least in its proper form from the 16-bit and 8-bit games), was meant to play to Sonic's "pinball" like nature. Classic Sonic, which used to be all about momentum, actually made it believable that Sonic was basically a pinball with legs. In that light, the spin dash was basically akin to having the option to "pull back the lever/flip the flipper" and have an option to get Sonic back to speed.

The Homing Dash, on the other hand, is nothing more than a rather lazy game play mechanic that was designed because Sonic Team likely couldn't be bothered to answer two critical question when it comes to modern Sonic game design: hit detection, and an actual momentum.

The first stance is a "natch" response: Homing Attack is basically a "win button", such that it circumvents a need to actually have to do the work necessary for real hit detection. You hit the button twice, and Sonic will automatically attack whatever the game deems is a "target".

The other stance is another "no [parasitic bomb]" thing. Modern Sonic games are all about speed. So in this era where Sonic can get automatic speed by just pressing a button without even needing to stop, the fact that the Homing Attack is able to help in that same avenue is just another thing that highlights that Sonic is what he is currently.

Again, none of this would be so bad, if Sonic 4 was allowed to actually be a classic-style, momentum based Sonic. The fact that we now have Sonic Colors on the Wii and DS, which both serve to continue the "pure speed" Sonic of the modern day era, seems to defeat the point of Sonic 4 needing a Homing Attack.
The Homing Attack isn't a "win button". It's simply a mechanic that helps to play 3D Sonic games.

In 3D Mario games, the developers thought it necessary to give direct melee/water attacks to Mario, even though many of the common enemies can be defeated by his regular jump. Why didn't they just keep the jump as the only way to defeat them? Because jumping is not so easy in 3D. And aiming your jumps, much less. Sonic attacked most of his enemies by jumping or spinning into them, and back in Sonic Adventure, doing this all the time would be way more frustrating. The homing attack fixed it. It made 3D Sonic playable at high speeds without you having to fall into a pit. Of course, ever since the Adventure games, no game did Homing Attacks well. >_> Which leads me to think it's one of the reasons Sonic games have pretty much sucked lately.

...I can understand your stand that it has no place in 3D Sonic games. But if developers have a chance to make it work, I don't see what the problem is.

Ninja Gaiden (1 or 2, or both, i'm ignoring 3, even if that one is not bad really.) (NES btw. Just in case anyone is wondering)
Never played the NES one, but even though you don't want to, I'm nitpicking the original XBox one. =P

- Frustrating game is VERY frustrating.
- Mashing the same wall move kinda lets you win easily.
- Some of the biggest loadings I've EVER seen.
- Frustrating camera.
- Enemies coming from unseen places in small passageways where you can never see them coming.

I can only imagine our difference in Sonic Team standards stems from my never playing STH2006, because I do not *AT ALL* agree with that.
Let's see what they've done.

- Sonic Heroes (decent game. Shitty when you put it to normal standards, but nowadays, it's a breath of fresh air)
- Shadow the Hedgehog (OH MY GOD THIS IS SO DAMN HORRIBLE. Seriously, the vehicles handle like something in Big Rigs and making the objectives of the level OPPOSITE to those of the gameplay? A game about collection with a speed boost special through a linear level? A game about not killing certain enemies with a "kill all" special? WHAT THE HELL. It's like Sonic Team made an RPG where to traverse down the world map you must fall through it like a Tetris block. And if you missed anything, tough luck. Go back through sparce teleporters.
- Sonic the Hedgehog (Horrible, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE game. It's not a game, it's a pile of bugs. Not a single level is playable. Not one single part can be salvaged. It's probably the worst game I've ever, ever, ever played in my whole life. And I've played Big Rigs, Aquaman and ET)
- Sonic and the Secret Rings (surprisingly decent. It's... not really what we expected, but it's not a bad game, really. If only the controls were all on buttons...)
- Sonic Unleashed (I think you all know my opinion on this, so no reason to illustrate it further)
- Sonic and the Black Knight (a game free of bugs, but also can be finished in half an hour and it pretty much sucks. Can be completed by pressing up at all times, flailing around like an idiot and doing a timing minigame for the last bosses).

So, yeah. Nights sucked, but at least it wasn't marred with bugs. It just... sucked. The controls for the flying portions were okay, but the key-nabbing was stupid. Still, it was a bit fun to fly around in a few levels. Kids' gameplay WAS HORRIBLE. Specially for the fact that it was forced on us, unlike the original Nights.

Any classic game not titled STH1 had Spin Dash, yet people [sonic slicer] about Homing Attack giving you free speed.

Simply put, people will complain about anything and everything regarding Sonic, regardless of whether or not there is any sense to their criticisms whatsoever  (GREEN EYES!  YOU BASTARDS! ::) ).  That's how it's been ever since Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, quite a ways before we were actually subject to the "horrors" of new-age Sonic Team (and I use that term loosely; having playing NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, "bad" in the context of Sonic Team has been forever redefined).
You know what's ironic? Nights: Journey of Dreams was actually good by Sonic Team standards. The final level, for example, was slightly playable.

Ah, good. Well, there really aren't any good lighthearted shows about comedy and good stories anymore. I mean, for sitcoms, you have How I Met Your Mother, but as far as I know, no other show really makes an effort. Scrubs used to, before it ended. Apart from that, I kinda find myself just watching old episodes of Frasier whenever I want a good sitcom.

That single part with Sonic facing a big monster at the beginning felt symbolic for me. Kinda like the character appearances in the FMV intro. They were all symbolic, had little to do with the plot. When the final boss was ACTUALLY THAT MONSTER, I went "OH [parasitic bomb], THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME"

I'll do a nitpick of my own.

Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing. Been playing alot of this game. MUCH better than Mario Kart so far, because the drift-boosting actually works in the gameplay itself and is required, but you have quite alot of control over your vehicle while you boost. Plus, much better items. Red shells (missiles) need to lock-on to seriously, 100% hit, and there's no such thing as blue shells, just remote controlled missile. Plus, classic character goodness.

- DLC is insanely hard. One vehicle, one character and one track will set you down quite alot of points.
- Monkey Ball tracks have stupid sharp turns all around, they're MADE of them.
- Instead of clear advantages of some characters over others overall, we have clear advantage over characters depending on each track. Good mechanic for single player, to get everyone to play different characters, not as good with multiplayer.
- Rewards are all based on money mile grinding from distance you've ran rather than actual game objectives.
- No Golden Axe midget. ;_; He coulda used the Slagmobile.
