Technicall every video game has role-playing. In Mario, you play the role of Mario, not you. In Star Fox, you play the role of Fox (or whoever else depending), not you. In a sports game, you play the role of player, not you (unless it's a custom character). It's a pretty vague term on its own, as it can pretty much apply to any video game ever.

And the "role-playing" term is derived from the fact that it is the leveling systems and such that make them role-playing games; not the fact that you play the role of a character as I outlined above. That's how it is today, at least.
Why are you repeating exactly what I said?

Playing roles =/= Watching a movie and grinding once in awhile. They're called RPGs because they share stuff like combat and experience points systems similar to some classic pen and paper WRPGs. If FF games are role-playing, you can "play a role" in any game. (MMOs are a different business since you create your own character)

Back to topic. Anyone who's mother's cousin's grandma has beta access can tell me how the sidequests are?

Or you know, go the route of MM9 and MM10, add "Legacy Mode" for people who want to play with Old Graphics, Old Title Screen, Old Chao... etc. But it won't be Sonic Adventure DC unless they put in Chao Adventure again, and make the DLC Accessible somehow.
DLC, they won't bother. It was just a few skins for levels, if I remember. One of which was "celebrating the Dreamcast's launch". As if they still want to celebrate that. And as for Chao Adventure, they'll either emulate it or get rid of it completely.

...or get rid of the Chao.

I never said anything about gameplay wise. All I meant was wRPG and jRPG. See? Last three letters of the abbreviation.
I got it. I replied to it by saying that it doesn't make much sense that that they are even called RPGs in the first place when they don't even share the "role-playing" part.

If they were gonna do that, and not have the Game Gear games, then why specifically reference the Gamecube version? Why not just say the original DC version, and one with slightly better stuff? That's my point.
I never said "not have the Game Gear games". What I mean is they'll probably have one XBLA game, with both versions easily accessible from the menu, GG games and everything. We're probably gonna get a ton of stuff unchanged, with just a few things such as HD screen compatibility so they don't have to fill the edges of the screen with crappy art and make us play in 4:3.

Of course, so far, both versions of the game are rated, but only the Dreamcast one has been announced. So we'll see.

WELL, Crystal Chronicles plays in full action RPG. Soooo... 8D

Seriously though, it's a matter of time, Flash. :3

And Crystal Defenders is another departure of the Turn-based RPG style of Final Fantasy... I think Square is stretching their legs. Chocobo Dungeon and all that... FF games, that mix it up. Maybe they'll be invading ur WRPGs.
Don't get me wrong. I'm the WRPG fanboy around here, who dispises pretty much every single JRPG in the face of the earth, I would WELCOME this change.

...I... just don't think they'd have the guts, that's all. And CC might play as a full action RPG, but using action and physics mechanics the way they're used in Oblivion or Fallout 3? Stats are pretty much the only thing those games have in common with JRPGs.

Any recommendations? :P

I'm banking on the mess.
It's one hell of a mess. The Mad Hatter's not the real one, but an impersonator who took his place for awhile and was quickly forgotten, while the Joker's moodswings actually mirror his mood changes in the comic itself. It symbolizes the grimdark period he went through. The whoooooooole thing is symbolical in so many ways. I think the only thing I still haven't figured out, is who or what the couple Dickbats and Robian defend from the Mutant gang represent.

I've heard rumors... but I personally want to wait till I see before I get anyone else stoked about it.

Incidently, you CAN play Oblivion in 3rd Person... but now I'm just being an ass.  8D
You can also play the near-entirety of MGS4 in first person. 8D

Now seriously, Final Fantasy is that ONE franchise I don't see descending from the depths of its turn-based system, much less into the most western system one can imagine.

But was that Damian training Terry, or did Bruce come back to life.  We technically don't know yet.
Since Terrybats comes after Brucebats, Dickbats and Damibats, and Brucebats seems to be dead when Damibats is about, as well as the guy watching Terry seems to be Damian, I'd guess Damibats is the one training him.

Then again, I'd wager the whole story's a big mess for the sake of being a tribute.

I'm rather obsessed fan of mechas, and Transformers especially (for a reason or another I don't like Gundam, though).

Due to that fact, I happened to play the demo of Transformers: War for Cybertron for seven hours. It's been a good while since I have really liked an online multiplayer shooter.
I've never enjoyed most mecha games, except for rare exceptions like Zone of the Enders or Steel Batallion for their sheer brilliance.

...would I like this game? I'm thinking whether or not to spend my 3-month Live Gold card now, because I'm aching to play this.

Well maybe they will. But it really wouldn't be DX without the GG games; it would be SA with shininess, individual fingers, and Metal Sonic.
As I said before, it'll most probably be one single game with both versions as a choice.

lol, Final Fantasy can be quite epic when it wants to be. That and the online team at Square consists of actually bright and brilliant folks.

That said, I don't know to how much extent it plays like Elder Scrolls, but I do know from both leaks and images that the level up process is identical. Even the menus look like something out of Oblivion. So yeah, might not want to overlook entirely. Try out the free trial when it comes out.
I meant the gameplay. Elder Scrolls has pretty much a first-person action-based gameplay. I seriously doubt Square-Enix would follow that. i am not doubting any of the game's epicness or quality, simply its genre.

I take your point, Sonic Adventure is Sonic Adventure and GG games are GG games, but split-screen 2 player emulation is something that I consider noteworthy.
It is noteworthy. Just not very relevant to the game itself. The GG games are simply extras. They should work on running the game more smoothly.

Don't have one. Are monitors cheaper than TV sets?
Much cheaper. I just got a HD LED monitor, with a 1920x1080 resolution, for quite cheap.

It's why I love Waller's speech about Bruce in Epilogue.
Speaking of that, what would that make Terry to Bruce in the new comic canon? If Damian is training him, that is. His grandson?

Although of course we're not even sure if this is fully canon. I mean, the friggin' Mutant gang made an appearance, it's pretty much a celebration of everything that makes Batman good, I think.

The only loose end is the scientist dude, who's now loose in time, with 15 years to spare to make himself a worthy villain. If he makes future appearances, means Damian training Terry is canon.

I herd gameplay and "level up" style is like Oblivion/Elder Scrolls, actually.

Also... thanks Flash, now I gotta go read/watch moar about it.
...what? No. That can't be right. FINAL FANTASY, of all the games in the world, can't be introducing third-person action gameplay into an MMO. I refuse to believe that.

That's like saying Megaman is being given the Lifetime Achievement Award of Shooting Up.

There was this comic, where police officers were telling stories about Batman, that happened in the same night.

One of them had him taking out a drug ring and being SCARY AS HELL towards the criminals.

The other, had him search for a couple of missing orphans, who he hugged while shedding a tear when he finally found them, and told them he'd help them find their family, no matter what. And they they'd never need to be apart.

The storytellers call each other a liar because they can't believe one man can have such distinct personalities. The moral of the story, is that he does. Batman simply does everything he can.
