One thing I've taken notice of is that the system seems to have excellent draw distance.  I'm seeing very faraway stuff in the trailer with no fogging.  On the other hand, that may just be because this is the first game trailer in many years which I have watched two dozen times over. 8)

Makes sense, I suppose, that if the system's whole shpiel is depth perception, somebody thought to see to it that you actually can see far.
3D shooter games can push a hardware quite well because they're maintained on a singular straight path instead of following where the player wants to go. So it's easier to load draw distances where you want them to be loaded.

I don't want to spoil, but I'll just say this: It winds up being one of those "destroying paradise is a good thing" stories.  L1 establishes a few basic ground points, but it's L2 that really dives into Volnutt/Trigger's backstory.

I'm sure there are narratives with the occasional button-pressing that do better.  It is after all still a fairly cartoony style.  But so far as MegaMan games go (I know, that doesn't set the bar high), it's in a league of its own.  It'd be almost as if the Zero-series actually told its story in-game ( -AC ) without having to hand you an "everything you know is wrong" notice every couple of years.
I've never seen a good story told in a Megaman game, but aight. Believe it when I see it. Time to get my emulatan on.

...should I play Legends 2 without playing Legends 1 or summat?

You see Xemnas is trying to use KH for his generic villain motives, but the other nobodies believe they are doing to get their hearts back....
Also it is not as if they were all friendly. Without hearts and stuff they kinda became evil...
Seriously the concept of Heartless, Nobodies and What´s-their-name-in-BBS confuses me
I've just tried out BBS in a full save with multiplayer co-op matches with friends. Still haven't played it. But as far as people told me, it plays "destiny" alot into the equation. So basically, all of the "Sora's a kid who got caught up in the middle of all this, but his heart was big enough to save the worlds" ends, and it's all replaced with "MIGHTY HERO WHO WILL FULFILL DESTINY".

Well, maybe it was bad to open Kingdom Hearts? The XIII tried to open it so that makes them evil?
But... WHY is it bad? It's the essence of all hearts, why not explore it? Why not use it to obtain a heart yourself instead of existing as a being who can't feel? What should Nobodies do? Just... go on without feeling? Or try to be alive again? They're trying to regain their humanity. And Sora just walks in and slaughters them.

Hm. Classic GB games would be nice. I would totally love to play Link's Awakening, Metroid II: Return of Samus, and heck, even Tetris in 3D.
Never played Metroid 2. Would very much like to, seeing as it's the only Metroid game which hasn't been remade or ported in any way yet.

...although that fan-remake looks good.

Lol, the Sorrow battle in 3D will give people nightmares.
Can you imagine the crazy [parasitic bomb] Kojima will be able to pull out with 3D? Imagine a whole part of the game in 2D, and the suddenly, GIANT SORROW FACE JUMPS OUT

Apparently this has already been stated by Flash numerous times, but this doesn't sound unreasonable in the least, and I always wondered why it was that Sora had to stop him.
The ultimate reason might be because they don't want him to open Kingdom Hearts. But then... what the hell even is Kingdom Hearts? It's the essence of all hearts, right? Sora predicted it was "LIIIIIGHT" because all humans are "GOOOOD". And then suddenly it was darkness again for some reason. And then... Mickey was inside for some other reason... and...

I DUNNO! The guy keeps pulling more and more stuff out of his ass! The appearance of Mickey and Riku at the last minute make sense in a sacrificial ending kind of way, for a surprise, but they don't make sense when you try to explain the whole thing and make "opening Kingdom Hearts to obtain new hearts for those who have none" an evil thing. Because it's not. KH had Ansem (or Xehanort, whatever) wanting to open up Kingdom Hearts because he wanted the darkness within to conquer all worlds and turn everything into pure darkness. It's kinda stupid, but with the reports and everything, it kinda made sense, in a simplistic sort of way. Until the following games screwed everything up.

Oh God, did I rage at that.
I loved him in CoM, he was my favorite character there.
Then Kingdom Hearts 2 came... and I no longer liked him so much.
Retcons! They can turn Yagami Light into Shinji Ikari!

Xemnas: "We nobodies want to feel... the same emotions and feelings as you humans do. We need hearts to complete us. We want to feel... whatever it is that you humans are able to express with your emotions and feelings, and without hearts, we feel empty and clueless."
Exactly! Look at how EEEEEVIL that sounds! That's totally the rant of a world-destroying maniac. =P

I just want classic GB/GBC games on the 3DS. Gotta get mah Wario Land on!

...and... would it be too much to ask for a reedition of old Virtual Boy games in black and white... this time PLAYED AS THEY SHOULD BE?

It's only 2 states away!  XD
That's easily driveable. I kinda gotta run across the ocean here. =P

And about Munn... she's hot and she's willing to act hot for the camera. That's why she's got a job. Still, Jessica Chobot beats her anyday.

Sensei, forgive the speedy bastard, for he knows not what he does...

In more than a few ways, including story and voice acting, the Legends series in general and Legends 2 especially, defy *ALL* expectations of a MegaMan game, and manage to kick all kinds of ass while doing so.  They are in no way comparable to the other series, I assure you.  You'd be wise to play them before commenting further, because beyond having a blue guy with an arm cannon, "MegaMan in general" trends simply do not apply.
Well, what kind of... "story" does it have? Because honestly, everything I've heard about the Legends series, "story" really isn't one of its praises. =P

« on: June 19, 2010, 02:25:50 PM »
But then you look at them bringing back Ollie, Hal, and Barry.  They had worthy predecessors, but here they are!  XD
I never followed Ollie much, but as for Hal and Barry, there are suitable explanations. For Hal, honestly, as much as Kyle has been a great character in titles such as Morrison's JLA and some of his own comic, nobody really knew what to do with him. And no Guardians, no Corps, the whole thing with one Green Lantern and alot of bullshit to the side had kinda gotten too damn stupid. Guy Gardner was 90's X-treme personified, John had gone through who knows what and been a Guardian himself... a REBOOT was necessary. And not just a reboot, but something that fixed one of the stupidest decisions ever made at DC. Turning Hal Jordan into an all-powerful time and reality-changing overlord. So they fixed it, and current GL is pretty damn good.
As for Barry? Stated quite a few times by Johns... Wally had grown up to a degree where he had no more space to grow up to. He was a family man, had saved the universe and time itself many times, had pretty much mastered all his speed powers of EVERYTHING... his personality was built, and he became a family man. You can't just go and constantly put his kids in danger now. So why not expand on Barry instead of bringing a new Flash?

IF it only was a cliche only in Anime.

But whatever,to each their own.
Where else is it a cliché? I mean, here you got a simplistic story that doesn't make you think in the least, and instead spoon-feeds you every single twist while pulling more and more supernatural [parasitic bomb] off its own ass about the heart and soul and fighting. And a villain who's a bishonen with white long hair says cryptic things that aren't supposed to mean anything, just make him look cool.

...sounds like anime there, bro. 8D

A lot of people say the same thing about NSMBWii and orchestras.  Doesn't stop the bitching.

I'm not saying EVERY track needs to be 80's metal.  But seriously, Super Sonic.  Nothing more needs be said there.
But that's the problem. Every single Sonic game has been 80's metal for awhile. It's time to stop and change. Make it different, like it was when Rush introduced techno. I hate most techno, but liked Rush's stuff.

I'm in the mind that anything can be good if given the chance... except rap. There is no such thing as good rap. Ever.
I wonder... do you know good rap? Because most people just think rap is what you listen to on the mainstream. Drugs, pimps, hos...

And then there's stuff like this if you know good rap:

At least you admit it.  The gaming journalism community loves to wrap "80's rock sucks" together with their Sonic bandwagoning and somehow claim that's a matter of objective quality.

The occasional Sonic game taking a different route is okay, I suppose, but it does kinda bug me that both this and STH4 abandoned it at the same time.  Sonic on Wii, WiiWare, and DS, and no Crush40 among all three?  It's just not right.
What's so bad about a change? Rush introduced techno, Adventure introduced 80's metal, and Unleashed brought orchestral-ish-at-times instrumental music.

Frankly, I CANNOT imagine STH4 with an 80's metal soundtrack. It would be horrid, the way they're trying to make a classic kind of tune sounds much better. And as for Colors, they're trying new tunes. I kinda wish they were more experimental, Yoko Kanno-like, and brought new styles of music to each game. Why not a Daft Punk-like tune for a space game?

I love Maaya Sakamoto.  She has such a beautiful voice.
My girlfriend introduced me to her. Never liked japanese modern music, but she, Yoko and a few from the same circle are the exception so far. Really good music.
