And how do you 100% the stories besides plot decisions?

Order 66 = Kill every hero in plain sight. 8D

But seriously, which episode do the characters die off all at once?
Close to the end, pretty much every non-main-character-who-is-also-a-hero does a HEROIC SACRIFICE, all very close to one another, in a way that's absolutely ridiculous.

...movie canon fixed that, though.

If they had used Castlevania LoS maybe... But instead they chose HoD, which so far, seems to only be a mashup DL title recycling stages from DoS.
Again, not alot of people are very interested in that game, and from feedback of those who played it, it seems like it's recycled derivative crap. While Other M is a freaking Metroid game made by freaking Team Ninja! What's not to love?

There was a scenario where an Order 66 is pulled then everything goes back to normal..? WTF..? That is one ep I'll avoid like the plauge.
...what?

I honestly see no competition in that poll.

Which is why it's pretty cool that they've included alternate costumes for them. Like the Iron-Spider, Armored Spider-man and Manga-Spider-man so far.
You forgot Ben Reilly Spider from the Clone Saga.

This game looks pretty good, but I'm honestly vary. Four different kinds of gameplay can be really tricky to implement.

...plus, I really hope there's a Spider-Ham universe cameo besides the one in the intro.

I like the whole anime (except for that one episode where everyone dies, which was [tornado fang]ing forced and retconned in the movies), simply because it's fun, it's epic, and it pretty much is one of the few stories ever existant which caters to the only one ideal I have that I know that will never be changed. So yeah, watching it is like watching the nonexistant speech from that one war hero or political leader who never existed, simply saying that we live because we want to, we exist because we can, and [tornado fang] all kinds of logic, facts and everything we know as true, because nothing is more powerful than the human will to acomplish something.

...but it's got nothing complex, it's one of the most simplistic stories I've ever seen, even I can admit that the characters are pretty damn basic, there's a [parasitic bomb] ton of Mary-Sues and flaws along the way. But it's THE feel-good anime of all time, and it's got an ending that makes me cry every single time I watch it, not because I feel close to any of the characters, not because I particularly like anyone in it, and I do hate quite alot of the soundtrack, but it's kinda like feeling emotional due to a national anthem, or due to a really good poem about ideals and justice. Anime usually throws stuff our way, but it's usually covered in smearing bullshit of stupid throwaway characters with alternate intentions and mysterious crap to sort out, a thousand fillers and just emotional junk to make it better for the casual fanboy. TTGL just strips off all that and says what it means without requiring any kind of bullshit to help the situation. It's one of the most western-type plots of anime I've ever seen, and that's why I like it.

Quite informative. Now, if you don't mind me saying, that story pretty much uses every single cliché in the book. =P But as you said, funny's what you're going for, so alright, let's see. I STILL need you to tell me what you're going for, because this kind of story would work out quite well as a pure comedy, but I guess you can insert a bit of good plot in as well. The names are the worst I've seen in terms of cliché, so focus a few laughs on them, make sure the characters yell them dramatically and stuff while others arc ironically about them (a straight man always helps when dealing with self-narrating superhero nutjobs who take their justice roles too seriously. Heck, villains too. Make sure you insert alot of "dark" and "rage" and "revenge!" into their schemes).

Try not to make straight-off copies, specially when they're recently created characters in currently successful comics.

Off The Wall / Re: Request [parasitic bomb] Here: The Thread
« on: July 31, 2010, 08:46:56 PM »
Altough technically not a request, I wanted to ask for some advice.

Basically my problem is related to my storywriting.

I made up a universe for certain series of stories. It's a vast place, full of super heroes, time travelers, evil organizations, extra-terrestrial gods/beings, good organizations, villains/super villains, cults, different species living in different sides of the cosmos and other stuff like that.
It's basically supposed to be a universe which parodies many things, but is also supposed to be able to stand on its own.

The problem comes in with... well... the plot. I have it more or less finished. All the major events, characters and [parasitic bomb] have been written down... for the most part.
But... I'm kinda afraid of starting writing it... cuz, well.

I tend to [tornado fang] things like this up.

What do I mean? Well the problem lies in me not being able to properly balance out the DRAMA and HUMOR. It's always like this... everything starts out lighthearted and humorous, then plot kicks in and SHITTY DRAMA SHITTY DRAMA NOT FUNNY NOT FUNNY AT ALL.

So I'm asking for a bit of advice... what would be a good way for me to balance this [parasitic bomb] out?

kthx
There's plenty of good examples on how to write a good story that balances out drama and humor. First of all, you need to make drama not be clichéd. You need to make FUN of cliché drama in the first place, so you can make way for actual drama, actual bad things that happen. Give the story required characters, like a Straight Man, a villain who recognizes how bullshit everything is, and maybe a few people who take the whole thing seriously.

Depending on how big the comedy goes, you have to balance your story from there. There are stories which have comedy, but it's mostly goofy stuff that is part of the action, like Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Then there's stuff that has plenty of heavy in-your-face comedy, but manages to be quite insightful and have the necessary drama, like Transmetropolitan.

To quote a bad example, look at Devil May Cry 4, for example. They made a comedy, but COMPLETELY missed the mark with the awful dramatic-wannabe story. Only the Dante parts deserve praise. The Fallout trilogy, for example, manages to be really funny at parts, without losing all of the insightful plot moments.

It all depends on how your story is, the genre, style, type... Can I have more info about it?

Nothing will ever beat, "Where's that DAMN fourth Chaos Emerald?"
There's way worse. Crap like "This is like taking candy from a baby, WHICH IS FINE BY ME" is like screaming "I AM SO EDGY".

Quote
I reiterate that, gameplay-wise, there is no such thing as an enemy you should not kill.  If you've ignored one enemy of the "wrong" team, you're safe.  The occassional Chaos Blast doesn't get in the way of anything.  And I find it perfectly plausible that a character whose good/evil allegiance is player-dependent shall be depicted as a loose cannon.  There are certainly worse gameplay phenomena out there that fly in the face of storyline.  Ever go Laguz-slaying as Zihark in Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn?  And don't get me started on how MMX5's system completely contradicts the storyline rationale for X's and Zero's respective ranks.

That and there are neutral mission objectives in Shadow The Hedgehog, where you can just run for the goal and leave it at that, although taking them through the whole game gets you that stupid Shadow Android ending.  There's no question that the Last Story is better for having no missions and actually giving some focus to Chaos Control.  So, yeah, could have been better, could have been worse.  That's my take anyway.
We've been over this [parasitic bomb]. Game sucks. Gameplay doesn't only NOT match the storyline, it doesn't match the [tornado fang]ing levels. End of story.

Baby fetishism is kinda weird. Because I can never tell if it's scat or not.

Furry diaper baby fetishism is the worst, though. I still remember that one forum post about some guy who disregarded pretty much all future amazing life options his family was offering him, just for the sake of going to live with a bunch of guys who do nothing all day but wear mascot costumes, roll around in their own [parasitic bomb] and drool all over.

And I thought I was turned on by weird [parasitic bomb].

"No, Mr Bond. I expect you to die."

Villains can't kill the hero, BECAUSE. Heroes don't kill the villain, BECAUSE. And the story goes on and on so it can get to a suitable ending, or keep on going for the sake of sales.

No Timm?

Lets see if this breaks the trend of "if there's no Timm, its not too great".
Although, can you really go wrong with a superman cartoon?
It's from the director of Green Lantern: First Flight and Wonder Woman. It'll be good.
