I never said I didn't like Destiny, I said it was overrated. The remake I didn't get to play long enough to get a valid impression from, but 1&2 didn't impress me much. It does suck that we didn't get a good portion of the "Tales of" games translated though.

Less BS would be nice, just for once.

X / Re: X8. I didnt like it all that much.
« on: August 17, 2009, 12:37:11 PM »
Eh, X1-X3 are my favourites of the X series, X3 being slightly behind the other two. The level design was more coherent back then (with a few mishaps here and there of course), considering nothing got close to the annoyingness of ride chaser levels. Man I hate those levels so so much... and X8 had 2 of the blasted things.

As for comparing the X series as a whole to the Zero series... well, the Zero series sure as hell is more polished, I can tell you that. X5-X7 showcase the laziness that seeped through in the X series, especially when it comes to level design. The Zero series did have some laziness in there as well (the weapons and EX skills come to mind) but at least they were consistently fun to play.

Concerning X8 itself... well, the fact that Axl actually had a point was a plus. He wasn't the nerfed X clone that he was in X7.

Batman AA and TatsuCap are the only surefire things that I can think of at this moment. I'll probably think of more when my current game well runs dry.

The only way I'm even going to consider it is if I know a large enough amount of people who will play it. Otherwise I'll avoid it, much like what I did for XI.

As for the idea of no monthly fee or initial cost... that's never gonna happen.

I want to go see it, but...I don't know if it'd be worth it. Poor CG doesn't really bother me, I just have no working knowledge of the G.I. Joe universe at all. Does that matter, or is this one of those "reinventions" for people who've never watched the cartoon?
Yes, it's a reinvention. There's many many things that are completely different from how they were originally. The plot seems very questionable from time to time, as well.

It seems fun, but I'm hoping they pace it in such a way that it doesn't get repetitive.

Well, I saw it, and it wasn't as bad as say Transformers 2. Still, the only characters they got remotely right were Snake Eyes and Scarlett. The CG did bug me at points though.

I think it's moreso that it goes against Rock's preprogrammed morals.

Hm...  I should one day just hop on my bike (or steal the car), pick a direction, and see where it takes me...  Just for the hell of it.
I've done that before, except I was walking. Sure helps clear the thoughts, and by the time I payed attention to where I was I had walked halfway across the island. I should do it again sometime.

Rockman Series / Re: How has Rockman performed in Japan?
« on: August 06, 2009, 08:25:36 PM »
Sounds good in theory, but that's not the reason EXE was more popular. Or Yu-gi-oh! for that matter. You see, card based games are popular in Japan, especially with the younger crowd. That's why they sold better than ZX, not because of an anime adaption.

Hah... that's rich. Sounds like the programmers changed things in their own favour, which is a common... amateur... mistake. Ike had that "weakness" for a reason.

« on: August 06, 2009, 04:44:55 AM »
are you sure that the game is really easier than its ancestors? cause i'm thinking you're just old enough and have gathered enough experience with Mega Man to learn the game's tricks quickly. it's the same thing i say to PB when he says Twilight Princess is easier than past Zeldas; it's not easier, you just have a better idea of what's coming.
I'm pretty sure. For example, the layout of the enemies in most stages in RM9 are much easier to handle than say RM2. The disappearing blocks segments are also far easier. Same thing can be said for most of the game.

The thing about RM9 is that it becomes so easy that you don't even need to ever go into the shop after the first playthrough or two, yet again because of the way the game is constructed. Tricky move on Capcom's part, but they managed to find a way to make it so that the game is actually easier than it's ancestors, yet still manages to retain the feel of the older games nonetheless. You don't really need to have as much twitch reflexes compared to the older games, but most people don't even notice.

RM&F has plenty of points that surpass the segments in RM9 that could be remotely considered difficult, upgrades or not. The GBA version of RM&F is even more difficult if you factor in the less intuitive controls and limited screen size.

The mugshots seem simpler than I was expecting compared to everything else (except for Dust, mind you), but oh man is that ever beautiful. Looks like it's fun, too.

RockMan and Bass?
Hah, nice catch... that's what I get for posting when I'm tired. Oh well, Rockman & Forte, for those of you that somehow don't manage to know what I'm talking about.
