Only problem with that plan is that the trees probably don't have several evil souls within it, so I doubt that would work out well 8D

I just want to say this:

Screw you Mario Kart Wii and your stupidass item favouring of the worst possible kind I have ever seen in a competitive game. Far far worse than any Super Smash Bros could ever wish to do.

It did work well, but that's only because the All-Range modes were often the stage for the most epic scenes. Assault fell apart when the All-Range was used for hum-drum sniping of target enemies, save for the most fun part of the entire game:

Star Wolf dogfight.

On-foot...has been bad in the past, though I think like LoZ and Metroid, it would benefit from the Wii's motion-sensing. I cringe at SFAssault Corneria, though. CRINGE.
Well, the Star Wolf Dogfight was pretty much the most awesome part of SF64 as well, so no big surprise there XD

What is that ratio, anyway?

80% On-Rail, 20% All-Range? I think SF64 was a little heavier on the All-Range, including boss battles, but I say it needs some lightening.
SF64 was fine, that ratio seems to work well. Everything after that kinda overdoes it with the All-Range. Also... On-foot = BAD.

I don't think there's anything wrong with taking Star Fox outside of corridors (who DOESN'T love SF64), but it should still remain within the ship (bad, Assault, bad!).
That's pretty much what I meant. Most of the new Star Fox games lack a good Corridor/All-Range ratio.

It really really sucks that you can't back up the saves of that game through regular means.

It's one of those things that you just don't really feel like doing again if you can avoid it.

Yeah, he's actually a bit improved in the AI department... too bad for him that all his moves are pretty damn predictable (and slow).

It's fun, although it loses the adventuring/exploring aspect of most Zelda games. Necessary loss for multiplayer, though.

The teleporting makes it very obvious who made the game too 8D

X / Re: X8. I didnt like it all that much.
« on: September 23, 2009, 01:54:18 AM »
Indeed.

To add to that, in any other MegaMan game there's the advantage of no fewer than 8 upgrades being unavoidable; try beating MM1 without Super Arm.  Or 8 without Thunder Claw.  Or MM&B without Ice Wall.  In X6, NOTHING is required.  Literally.  There are always multiple solutions and never is one single item necessary, but absolutely nothing in the game short of Falcon Armor is unavoidable either.  You know what we call that?  Open.  Some people just can't handle it.
When were we given the option to cap our charge level?  'cuz I missed that.
I was talking about the X series exclusively, where one doesn't really need the use of any upgrade to advance normally, except for X6. While it's true that you don't need the use of any one single item exclusively, the fact is that you still need one. Or two, in some cases. I have no issue with the open gameplay... but it isn't perfect. I still think you shouldn't have the need of any part whatsoever. If it were as open as you say, then there would be the option of no upgrades whatsoever.

As for the charging in X1, it's called shooting before it hits the last charge point, which isn't too difficult. Leads to some less than intuitive moments at times (I tend to like having my charge ready at all times), but it is doable.

2nd hi-ougi exhibition by Nore. Mind you it's not complete.

That's pretty impressive already. Patty's sure has a lot of variations.

The lack of a Magic Swordsman in Vesperia made me sad, but if I can get my hands on this version, I'm sure I'll enjoy using Flynn.

Yeah, you're forced to take the upgrades... but you're never forced to use them. In X6, you're not forced to take them, but you sure as hell need them in certain spots.

StarFox's current problems lie mainly in the execution. StarFox is known mainly for it's corridor Arwing gameplay, and we've been getting less and less of this as time goes along, which in essence ruins the feel of the game completely. It's not as far off the road as other series though (Sonic immediately pops into mind >_>').

The fact that it's apparently more tactically influenced than it's progenitors makes it sort of tempting.

I still think requiring parts for unarmoured X runs in X6 is stupid. Not undoable, or difficult to figure out, but just flat out annoying that you can't finish everywhere in the game vanilla. They could have easily done it in one way or the other so that you could get by vanilla (ie. no parts equipped) if you thought it out hard enough, but that isn't the case. That's my only gripe with X6, really. In 100% runs it really is enjoyable. Certainly more so than X5 in it's entirety, at any rate.

I've tried everyone, and so far the only characters I don't really like so far are Exdeath and Emperor. Perhaps that will change as I get more moves for them, but as it stands it doesn't work well.

Zidane's the character I use the most. I appreciate his speed, and although he's not the strongest of characters, that can be rectified with accessories anyways.

It starts feeling less random as your characters get more skills and higher leveled. Well, that's how it worked out for me, at least.

All things considered, it could be a whole lot worse. At least the character's stories aren't all that long, especially when running through when you're higher leveled. Beating Shade Impulse over and over again with all the characters gets very very dull, though.
