Gaming / Re: Miyamoto is "disappointed in StarFox".
« on: October 29, 2009, 02:49:29 AM »
The solution is simple, dammit. A better Corridor/All-Range ratio (like the one in SF64, for instance) and no blasted On-Foot segments. There, problem solved.

If he really wants to see the SF team out of their Vehicles, then the solution there is simple too... make a side-story game that does so. I'm not talking like SF Adventures here where it felt tacked on, but something from the ground up. Otherwise though, On-Foot Star Fox can go burn in Solar.

I'm not sure if I want to watch. It would be awesome to see, no doubt, but on the other hand I want it to be fresh when I take a go at it.

I'm looking forward to the next AVGN vid, since it's going to be about Super Castlevania IV, which just so happens to be my favourite.

As for ReBirth... day one when it comes out here, no doubt about that.

And another one for Fxeni.

That's pretty awesome, actually. Far better than the Saturn one, that's for sure :P

So do I when it comes to the console games. What can I say, it feels more reliable most of the time than the shoulder buttons.

Thing is, most people who use the L button to dash nowadays only adopted this once the Zero series came out. Well, that seems to be the case from what I see.

Also, I don't understand how you guys like the L for dashing. It feels so ridiculously uncomfortable and wrong for me, so I switch to dashing with the R button. I guess this could be attributed to using my right index finger for so many years to dash.

I just wanted to say that this is exactly how I hold the controller when I play the X games. The only exception being MHX, due to the PSP not being shaped in such a manner where this position is comfortable enough.

The Xtreme games... well, they're alright. The second one is better than the first, however it isn't perfect. The Sigma battles in both of them have much left to be desired, I find. Also, the dashing did feel quite awkward. I will say that I agree with Hypershell (for once) when it comes to the air dash in the second one; it feels very natural.

I think they stole that from Batman: Hush.
They did... that fight was great.

Eh, I personally have nothing against SA2's levels. The Sonic and Shadow levels in that game are well executed overall, better than SA in my opinion.
Still think X6's isn't well planned out, though.

As for my list... well, I can't really say. There's far too many to pick from, spanning systems from the course of my lifetime. I would be lying to myself if I tried to make any final list.

Hot diggity damn. About time. As of late they've just been making... *sigh* Barbie movies.

Do keep in mind that's from the Official Nintendo Magazine, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Assuming it's the PSX version, you have to use popsloader to change to version 3.40 I believe.

Hmm, so they did, now that I look closer at it. Guess it was so that they don't confuse the newer fans who never played the X games.

The reason Omega uses a pistol is lazineness. Why put in a completely different sprite when you just need to palette swap? >_>'

Yeah, HoD was pretty blatant. I abused the hell out of the dash in that one. The problem with a lot of the Metroidvanias is the setting. PoR was decently good for this, but even there the repeated environments was a bit weird. I can't comment on OoE, since that's the only one I didn't play yet.

Uncharted 2. Fun game, but it has it's issues here and there.

A valid concern, I suppose. I get the feeling that it's reception will most likely be mixed... if only because of the rabid Metroidvania fans.

Speaking of which, I find some of the comments coming from those fans hilarious. A good bunch of them are asking for a sequel to SotN... have they not been playing the newer Castlevanias or something? They're practically all clones of SotN to some degree. Well, most of the handheld ones anyways. Thank god for Dracula X Chronicles.

Well, I'm personally looking forward to Lords of Shadow. Although it borrows some gameplay elements from other games, it still looks fun. Besides, how many games nowadays are truly original in any form >_>'

Also, Patrick Stewart.

Sooo Iga's working on something? Nothing too surprising there. I hope he does something other than a Metroidvania sometime... I find that they're getting a bit stale.

Eh, I haven't really continued playing in a while now. Maybe if I had people to play against I would play more, but as it stands I was satisfied getting Zidane to 100 and beating Inward Chaos.

Gordon Freeman is winning the poll, huh? I'm half surprised. On the other hand, Half Life does have quite the following.

I might give the online portion of Uncharted 2 a shot when it comes out. Not too sure about anything else at the moment.
