Okay, so it turns out it's not really an AI that can jump into a level at any time.  It's just a bunch of premade level demos that start from the beginning.  Was that truly worthy of a patent?

Haha, someone I can relate to. Ruby Spears when i was little, right before school.
later, it stopped airing, and I kind of forgot about Megaman.

Me too, but I only saw it a couple of times.  Didn't have that many cartoons I watched regularly... Maybe Animaniacs, right after school.  When I saw Megaman 6 times in a row on NES game lists, I thought, "Wow, 6 games based on that silly show?  How good can they be if they're based on a cartoon?"  Later I saw someone actually play Megaman 4 on an emulator, and I recognized it as Megaman, except I thought he looked a little too small...

Yeah, seems like everyone had much greater expectations when the game was first announced.  We saw "EXE meets Shooting Star!" and imagined some amazing, all-new game that would dramatically expand on both series, but with the main focus on Star Force, because that's the latest series after all!  I wonder if it would have been better to first announce it as "So hey, we're porting Exe 1 to DS", and then gradually announce new features, so we'd be pleased with all the additions rather than all the omissions of features imagined by the fans.
