Seeing Quickie mouth "angry peasants" worried Merrick, remembering the faint discussion earlier about Mewtwo being the cause of more than just the Pokemon Center's structural damage.  He swore he saw someone with the energy signature of a Magician with the rule-bound energy of the Ten of Pentacles wander out of the Center not too long ago and could help but pin him as the one that might be causing problems.  He didn't want to think this way, given the person looked ordinary and not the type that would cause problems, but the fact that he may have been the one trying to turn Sakura and Nurse Joy against Mewtwo had him suspicious and worried.

Feeling that his involvement with whatever was going on in Cerulean City would only hamper whoever was going to head over there and help, he decides to head out of the Pokemon Center and follow the person bearing that duel energy signature, wanting to see and confirm for himself that he wasn't intending anything other than brown-nosing like the reporters that were running around getting information from the citizens in the city.

Not far from the Pokemon Center, he hears commotion and bounds towards the back of the Pokemart, poking his head around the corner to see some trainers pointing out a picture of Mewtwo held up by the same person he sensed earlier.  Certain this was the person who bared the Ten Pentacle, Magician energy, he stays hidden behind the corner, wondering what he was intending to tell these trainers after their reaction to the picture he brought up.

Merrick eventually sensed Tarot Skitty's presence within one of the rooms marked 307, uncomfortably close to Kojiro's room, though the disguised Team Rocket was too busy filming evidence for the organization to notice the card slip by him.  Merrick decides to keep it that way and squeezes his card under the door, finding himself in a near empty room with the ever motionless white Skitty drifting about like a balloon.

While he didn't trust leaving the Robot Master alone in an easily accessible room, he knew it was better than keeping it strapped to Excalibur's back to eventually be let loose with a single trip.  Merrick flies up to Tarot Skitty and plants himself onto its back, causing it to drop like a sack of hammers onto the floor.

This was one of the flaws of getting control of Tarot Skitty without having to rely on milk every six-eight hours, the inability to float upon contact with its back.  After waiting for the deck-holder to confirm Merrick the only one resting on its back, the bright white that blocked his vision quickly faded to Tarot Skitty's POV, indicating he has full control over the light-manipulating Robot Master.

Merrick takes a moment to scan his area again before finding the door with the knob no less closer to grabbing distance than if he were normal size.  He tried jumping up to the knob, barely managing to grab it with the front of Tarot Skitty's stubby paws, though keeping hold of the slippery, metallic surface was proving harder than he expected.  Desperate to get it open, he began swinging his body side to side until the knob turned enough for the constant jerking to eventually push the door open.

No sooner had he gotten the door open, the noise had gotten Kojiro's attention as he slowly turns his head around to see what was going on.  Not wanting to be spotted this quickly, Merrick drops to the ground and jumps behind the open door, waiting through his Tarot Energy for him to eventually shrug it off as a Pokemon trying to get out and goes back to videotaping his evidence.  Merrick pokes Tarot Skitty's head around the door before cautiously and quietly making his way towards the lobby to check up on the other trainers still aware and trusting Mewtwo having nothing to do with what's being spread around the city.

Overhearing a conversation about Pyro heading to Cerulean City, Merrick remembered Ryo, Posu and Nega heading in the same direction, one of them most likely following his aura sensing and Mind Reading abilities to help Ahrzyal resolve the situation before it gets worse.  He wanted to speak up about it, but didn't want to draw Kojiro's attention, seeing as he was still spying on the two trainers and hasn't yet spotted the white Skitty now lurking among them.

(I would also mention that Frillish was supposed to have gotten control of the Superia, or at least stalled it long enough for Jessie, and probably Chariot and Synthis to get on board.  But I'll just assume a time skip was in progress and they already stow away during said skip)

Merrick had been left outside since Ahryzal had gotten up, not wanting to bother her anymore than she wanted, but at the same time too irked by the wandering reporters to budge from his newly dropped position as a face down tarot card.

He noticed an infinity symbol made of roses associated to the Magician surrounded by ten Pentacles wander out of the Pokemon Center.  Whatever was going through this guy's mind, he not only got it from a group, he wanted everyone to know about it in the name of said group.  This normally would prompt ignorance as he had more personal things to worry about, but the faint claims that Mewtwo was the cause of more than just the Pokemon Center's calamity had him worried.

He pushes the top half his card back just enough to project his head as he sees what appears to be an ordinary person wander out of the center, muttering something about getting the less knowledgeable citizens of the city to rally against Mewtwo.  He would think the citizens would be just as understanding of Pokemon capabilities as the Nurse Joys that ran the Pokemon Center, but remembering how one town Hierophant visited almost went on a witch-hunt for an Absol they claimed was responsible for a brush fire it could never have started without learning a TM move, he didn't trust that this city would be any more competent in differentiating a tunnel that could have been the fault of a digging Pokemon with an explosion that could very well be blamed on a psychic Pokemon with a loyalty complex.

As he is right now, there was very little he could do without drawing attention to himself, and potentially the rest of Tarot Skitty's deck.  His only option was to head into Chariot's room and see if he left the titular Robot Master behind before dragging everyone to the Pal Park for some "unwinding".  He drops the card back down and attempts to slither through the door as it was beginning to close and towards where Chariot had dropped off his stuff.

Merrick cringed as he sees reporters brown-nosing every citizen that either entered the city or passed by them, with one of them heading towards the Center.

It was bad enough that Kojiro's Mime Jr. was chasing him all over the place with a smartphone that could very well be used to send information back to Team Rocket concerning his existence; he didn't need the rest of the world knowing the capabilities of living tarot cards.

Without thinking, he pressed himself, face down on Ahrzyal's back while she was still passed out, trying to pass himself off as a decoration on her shirt while hoping they get the information they need and move on.

Merrick soon noticed everyone in the Center stopping in their tracks, looking like they had zoned out for a few moments.  He quickly sensed it was coming from outside and flew towards the source, barely missing the sliding doors as another trainer was coming in, to find Ahrzyal passed out nearby.

Unsure of what to make of the situation, he flies closer to her passed out figure trying to get a better gauge of her emotional energy to see just how out of it she was.

After running around the Center for a while, trying to outrun the gleefully childish Mime Jr., Merrick notices Kojiro's door was left open a crack and rushes inside, pinning his back to the wall and waiting for the baby Pokemon to flounder in while looking around, confused.  At this, he quickly slips around the door and flips over, using his tangible strength to push the door closed.

The noise snapped Kojiro back to his senses as he sits up.

"Wah!  I wasn't sleeping!"

He then sees Mime Jr. giggling before him while waving the camera around, enjoying the streaks it was making.  Irritated, he snatches the phone back.

"We have important Team Rocket business to take care of!" he grumbles, "Domino will have our ranks if we don't do as she says!"

He then pushes the door back open and peaks outside, completely unaware that Merrick was on the other side, picture facing outward as he sensed him look around for anyone else near Mewtwo's room.

Kojiro remains stiff as the walkie-talkie falls out of his handle, barely fried to a crisp as his hair goes through another unwanted transformation due to the bolt of lightning that struck him.

"Over...and...out...." he mutters before falling back into his bed in a momentary daze.


Merrick heard the lightning crash and zips over to the source, stopping at the entrance of the hallway upon seeing Mime Jr. holding a smartphone towards Mewtwo and Quickie's room, though it began swaying about, seeming enthralled by the picture moving on the screen.

The camera eventually settles on Merrick, causing Mime Jr. to giggle at the smaller appearance on the phone while attempting to move closer to the card, causing him to cringe slightly while trying to keep distance from the oncoming Pokemon, quickly leading to a chase around the Pokemon Center as Merrick knew any footage caught on the phone would be sent to Team Rocket for observation.

Again, there was some grumbling on the other end before Domino came back. "Must have been Dr. Wily II.  He was one of the scientists on the team."  There was another pause. "What's the status on Mewtwo?  Did you find its slave?"

Kojiro attempts to answer, but another lightning bolt strikes him, traveling into the comlink and screwing up the frequency.

Again Kojiro clears his throat, unsure of how to put this so as not to imply that Mewtwo may have been in the wrong with what little evidence he got so far.

"I believe that was Mewtwo's doing, but apparently it was because of some split personality problem living within the body of an old man who keeps calling him his son, and claims that an Alakazam was the reason for his split personality.  I was going to send a separate set of evidence concerning this old man and his connection with Mewtwo and that Alakazam I believe may be an accomplice to his shenanigans."

Kojiro clears his throat nervously, remembering Jessie wanting to infiltrate the Superira, but was too busy spying on Mewtwo to pay attention to her whereabouts.

"She was supposed to have reclaimed the Grand Rhydon...." he mutters, "But judging by the tremor that shook this entire city, I get the feeling someone else had taken control of it and she chased is most likely chasing after it as we speak."

Korjiro irked when the text message came up.

"You couldn't have called at a better time...?" he grumbles as he hands the smartphone to Mime Jr., who followed him out not too long ago, "Hold it steady and don't do anything with it until I get back."

Mime Jr. salutes as it childishly continues to point it in the same direction Kojiro had it in as he rushes back to his room and picks up the comlink.

"Hi, Domino!" he quips happily, "Just gathering some evidence concerning Mewtwo and his brainwashed slaves!"

Kojiro cracks the door open, peaking around to see of the pesky Plusle and Minun were still outside before noticing Quickie heading back to her room.  Now certain that no one else was going to bother him, he waits until she heads inside before bounding to the adjacent wall and shuffles back towards the angle he positioned himself in earlier, pulling out his Smartphone and videotaping any progress on Mewtwo's condition and Quickie's change in behavior since his supposed brainwashing.


Once the wound had shrunken to near nonexistence, Merrick phases back into his card and backs away some to let Tayor observe her hand.

Merrick soon noticed Nurse Joy bandaging Taylor's hand and decides to go check and see how bad it was.  He should let the bandage do most of the healing, but feels it would be against his nature not to help with the process.

He fazes his upper body through while forming his staff and points it towards the cut, casting a small healing spell to seal up the wound.

Ryo soon pinpointed the distance of the ripple, and the area the Superia was tunneling through, and makes a mad dash towards the Pokemon Center exit, though not fast enough that Ahrzyal and any other trainer that wants to help her won't be able to keep up.

Posu and Nega see him run by, looking back towards the door Merrick pinned himself to before running after their Riolu leader, wondering where he was going and if they can be of any help.

Merrick watches them leave, wondering if she should tell them the current Gym Leader may be preoccupied with a different kind of situation concerning the other part of their city.  He then noticed an odd behavior near where Quickie and Mewtwo were staying and decides to check it out.

Posu and Nega look between Merrick's drifting card, then Tayor heading to the main desk, before deciding to follow after him to see what he had spotted.

Poking their heads around the corner, they find Kojiro observe Quickie leaving while reaching into his kimono to get his smartphone back out.  They have yet to recognize his disguise, but an oddly familiar scent reeked his presence, tempting them to get closer and sniff him out.

Kojiro irks when he sees the two standing around him, sniffing around his personal space.

"Shoo...shoo....  Get away from me...." he hissed while trying to shake them off, but they just bounced back and continued to sniff him.  His forehead turning blue with exasperation, he and Mime Jr. quickly shuffled back to their room and shut the door, wanting to shake off the two cheering Pokemon before they draw too much attention from the rest of the Center.

Merrick just watched, rubbing the back of his head.  Though he shouldn't bother the guy, he can't help but feel like he's seen and sensed this guy before.  He decides to move closer to the door and press his card against it, waiting to see if he'll pop back out when Posu and Nega get bored and go back to finding something else to do.

Merrick seemed irked by the Pancham's intimidating glare as he looks towards Taylor while raising his card to her eye-level, "I shouldn't go into detail, but all I can say is that it was from a powerful Pokemon you might not want to bother right now."

Meanwhile, in the Pokemon Center...

Nurse Joy stepped out of the room and nodded to Quickie.  "The antibiotics should do the trick, but I'll give it some medicine to lower the fever.  It should take no more than a couple days to start showing signs of improvement, and it will be over the infection in about a week.  Plenty of rest, keep it hydrated, and an over-the-counter fever-reducer is all it needs.  How cooperative is it with taking pills?"

Quickie shrugged. "He's cheeked stuff before..."

"I'll get you a pill gun, then, and show you how to use it," Nurse Joy walked away.  After a few minutes, she returned, an ice pack draped over her arm, a vial in one hand, and an oral syringe in the other.  "I'll warn you now, when you use one of these, you're pretty much asking to be bitten."

Quickie nodded. "As long as I don't lose a finger."  Chuckling, she and Nurse Joy disappeared into the room, not noticing Kojiro's spying from practically across the hall.

...or would be spying if he wasn't dazed in his room by Pyro's botched magic trick.  Mime Jr. hovers around him, pressing his finger against his bottom lip while cocking his head left to right in curiosity.

"Mime...?"

He then drifts closer to Kojiro and begins Tickling him, causing him to laugh almost breathlessly before springing back to his feet, fully aware of what had just happened.

"That brat!  How dare he interrupt important Team Rocket business!?"

Kojiro pokes his head back out into the hallway, seeing Quickie making her way back into the room with what appears to be two different kinds of syringes and an ice pack.

"Hmm....  Whatever Mewtwo used has completely overtaxed him, it seems...." he mutters, "It doesn't look like he'll be doing any of that brainwashing Domino has been warning us against...at least...not for the rest of the day it seems...."

He then skips out of the room, flattening his back against the adjacent wall and crab-walking towards the room Quickie is in, stopping at an angle where he can see the two but not be spotted at the same time.  Mime Jr., ever the mimicker, follows him in the same manner.

"I'm the Hierophant; but most of my friends call me Merrick," the card responds while placing one hand behind his back and using the other to present to the Plusle, "This is Posu...." he then moves his hand to the Minun, "And this is Nega.  They're with a Riolu named Ryo as part of an experiment a cheering and fighting squadron named Blazkrieg are testing to add a new division to their cheering section."

The two cheering Pokemon squeak their respected names while waving again to Taylor.

"Sorry about that," he said while scratching the back of his head, "Not a lot of people have seen a talking tarot card before."
