Gaming / Re: Rockin' Android brings doujin gaming to Steam
« on: September 01, 2011, 04:59:24 PM »
How's the translation? Does it stand up to CF's work?
Well the only game from Rockin' Android that I have access to is Acceleration of SUGURI X-Edition on PC and I've played it a little, so far their translations is about is good as Carpe Fulgar's. Sara J. Leen, one of the translators at Rockin' Android, has been doing fan-translation since the she worked on the original SUGURI before she got employed by the company.

Now for an update!

Quote from: Rockin' Android - Rockin’ Android games are coming to Steam
Our first Steam release will be a doozy, the Gundemonium Collection will be available for download on Steam on September 27, 2011 for $9.99 USD. It will also be possible to purchase the games individually for $3.99 USD each. That’s not all. To further mark this momentous occasion, we’ve added some great new features, exclusive to the Steam release. They are as follows:

● Optional remixed and enhanced in-game soundtracks by DM Ashura (of Dance Dance Revolution fame) and talented up-and-coming artist, Woofle, are now included. The new soundtracks have the enthusiastic approval of the series’s creator, Murasame!
● We’ve upgraded GundeadliGne to include solid online cooperative-play support through Steam. Previous versions only supported local play, including the original Japanese release!
● Steam achievements will be included with all three games; for when you feel the need to achieve.

Stay tuned for more info!

Gaming / Rockin' Android brings doujin gaming to Steam
« on: August 29, 2011, 11:04:06 PM »
Rockin' Android, the doujin localization company that brought over doujin games outside of Japan like Flying Red Barrel -Diary of a Little Aviator- and SUGURI Perfect Edition for PC, and Crescent Pale Mist and Acceleration of SUGURI X-Edition for PlayStation 3, is bringing more doujin gaming to Steam starting with Gundemonium Collection.

Trailer: http://store.steampowered.com/video/901734/80971

For those of you who don't know about Gundemonium Collection, it is a collection of three bullet hell shoot 'em up titles: Gundemonium Recollection, GundeadliGne, and Hitogata Happa. These games were originally released in Japan for Windows PC a long ago by Platine Dispositif (you might recognize them as the doujin circle behind the Metroidvania game,
Bunny Must Die ~ Chelsea and the 7Devils
), though Rockin' Android brought these three game in English on PC and much later on PlayStation 3. Although the Steam version of these games isn't just a port of their earlier releases of these games; some of the bells-and-whistles thrown into the Steam version will feature arranged music by DM Ashura and Woofie of the DDR, Beat Mania IIDX, and 02Jam fame, GundeadliGne will feature online co-op play, Steam leaderboards and such.

Doubt many people will pick up on these games (unless you're a shoot 'em up aficionado or a fan of doujin games, or both), but it's nice to see Rockin' Android bring over obscure and rare gems onto Steam, like Carpe Fulgar for bringing over Recettear and Chantelise. I'm hoping Rockin' Android brings more doujin games onto the service.

And I pre-ordered the game for only $15 (by cutting off about 80% of the retail price). :cookie:

I'd like to know how you'd got that much of discount. D:
Also, that fanservice (hoping the game is good, though).

Close, but not quite. I give you a hint: The game is a mix of Clock Tower and Shadow Gate (at least from my prespective).

Ugh! Why hasn't Virtual-ON OT hasn't dropped it's 1200 MS Points price tag already? And why 1200 MS Points? It seems a bit much for this game. It makes deciding whether to get Trouble Witches with Luca DLC and Strania with the Side: Vower DLC harder to decide with the $29.50 in MS Points I got. X(

I've officially finished all of Bayonetta's Achievements. And have to say that this is one of the best games from Hideki Kamiya I've played since the original Devil May Cry on PS2.

Now then, time to wait until I can get my filthy hands on these games and start playing 'em.

Since Mike Z isn't going to disclose info regarding the game's characters, price and release date, I'm going to make a wild guess here:
Although I'm pretty much cheating with the yet-to-be-seen characters since most of the stuff I've seen are fanart of Alex's characters on Reverge Labs' site and deviantART.

Price Point: Knowing how much effort is going into this making this game, I'll say the game's price will be about $15 (1200 MS Points for Xbox 360).

Release Date: If I recall correctly, they stated Skullgirls was going to be a summer release, but it's already August. So... September?

There's also there a little side tournament for Skullgirls going on at EVO (I'm not sure if it's already mentioned at the EVO 2011 thread), grand prize winner gets their hands on Reverge Labs' glorious Skullgirls Arcade Stick (which according to them, works on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360). I got some Cave Story-esque freeware games for you.

Momodora

Release date: August 8, 2010
Developer: rdein
Version: v1.4 (as of December 14, 2010)
Genre: 2D > Platforming
Content: Mild Fantasy Violence

Momodora is basically an homage to Cave Story, although it's more like Metroid Fusion from my experience with this game since it's a kinda linear. You play as an orphaned girl who searches for a sacred treasure in an attempt to bring your mother back to life after she sacrificed her life to maintain peace in your homeland of Koho. The artstyle and the visuals themselves definitely bears a resemblance to Daisuke Amaya's style, although the game does run more seamlessly and smoother than the original PC Cave Story since this game was made on a different engine. The game has some nice, and there's a bunch of weapons and items to collect like in Cave Story. On the downside, it can be tad frustrating and there's only one save slot. I haven't finished this game yet, but it's a decent time-killer.

Download Momodora v1.4

Momodora II

Release date: July 10, 2011
Developer: rdein
Version: v037 (as of July 17, 2011)
Genre: 2D > Platforming
Content: Mild Fantasy Violence, Language

The sequel to Momodora released just about a month ago, and it's an improvement over the original. In this installment, it more true to Cave Story or other Metroidvania type of games, although it does have this Legend of Zelda kind of feel to it. The storyline of Momodora II takes place sometime after the first game; in Momodora II, you play as Momo, a shrine maiden from Koho who sets out to banish the new Underworld Queen. This is an improvement over the first game since Momodora has more of a story to it this time around and you feel like there's a little more freedom in the gameplay, plus now there's three save slots instead of of one. There's multiple endings in this game, although the game is not an entirely lengthily experience; it can be beaten in less than 2 hours. Unlike the original Momodora (more or less, Cave Story), you don't get a lot of weapons to play around with; your only weapons are your leaf, which handles like a sword, and your shrine maiden seals that can thrown at enemies. Overall, it's a nice little tribute to Daisuke Amaya.

Just finished Bayonetta on Hard mode recently and I'm starting my crow-hunting in Non-Stop Infinite Climax. Prior to that...

I just finished Bunny Must Die today with 100%, now to start Chelsea and the 7Devils to bring the story to it's conclusion. I'm also playing around with Virtual-ON: Oratorio Tangram demo because I'm considering into getting it if it goes on sale (and I get my Gold membership back).

I remember playing the game many years back. Cephi and I used to talk about it too. ^^

It's moments like this where we need some more Threads of Fate/Dewprism love. Anyway, screenies~

Capitalism Ho!! :cookie:
.... *paranoid by Chante* -_- '>.>

I definitely plan on buying this game. Although I haven't played the full Threads of Fate on my PS2 before it broke (I played the demo way back with a PlayStation Underground demo), but man it was like an early Kingdom Hearts to me. It's cool to see EGS make homages to it with their games and Carpe Fulgar bring them in English.

Your  "Oh, if you have problem typing with Japanese language settings, maybe this EXE will help." gave my avast a *WARNING! THIS IS TROJAN VIRUS!* alert.

LOL how did your avast! gave you a trojan warning (was the Free, Pro, or Internet Security version)? I scanned the *exe on my PC and the results came up "NO THREATS FOUND". I scanned it with Malwarebtye's Anti-Malware and it scanned the file as safe from malicious items (and the funny part is that I got trail for the full version AGAIN just now). Alrighty now, time to install this thing...

-EDIT-
Does the option.exe work at all? I try to start the thing I and it won't start.

-EDIT 2-
Great. I don't think I can play this game because of some stupid server crap I can't find the download for at Scht's site... ~.~
