Surprised no one mentioned Hydra Castle Labyrinth. Also here's the (rough) English patch for it.

Since Halloween is just about 2 weeks away, might I suggest some horror games? Screenshot dumps ahoy!

the white chamber

Release date: March 30th, 2005
Developer: Studio Trophis
Version: v1.7
Genre: Adventure > Sci-Fi Horror
Content: Violence, Blood and Gore, Strong Language

A point-and-click adventure game about an amnesiac girl who wakes up in a strange coffin aboard an abandoned space station. In her search to find herself, she finds out there's something dark, twisted, and evil going through the hollowed halls. Yes, it has an wannabe art-style (if not Yu-Gi-Oh!-esque) -- done by British indie developers no less -- but the game provides a very ambient and foreboding atmosphere that can suck you in the suspense, and gives off this Silent Hill meets Dead Space vibe as you find out what is going on in the space station. The English voice acting though is rather shoddy (they do have a German voice setting though) and I'm not sure if this was done intentionally bad to like a badly dubbed anime or if the staffers have shoddy voice actors. The game has multiple endings, depending out you handle certain situations.

Ib

Release date: February 27th, 2012
Developer: kouri
Version: v1.02
Genre: 2D > Adventure > Surreal-horror
Content: Blood (and Gore?)

Ib (pronounced "Eeb," similar to “Eve”) is a recently (by 2012) released game by kouri made with RPG Maker 2000, the same engine used for Yume Nikki and a bunch of other games. The story is about a young girl and her parents going to an art museum to observe the artworks of a surrealism artist known as Guertena featured at the museum. When Ib took a look at some of the artist's work, surprise-surprise, weird (and creepy) begins to happen with your parents are nowhere to be found. The strange phenomenon that is occurring all around Ib is somehow linked to Guertena's work. The game focuses on puzzle-solving and exploring through the bizarre corridors and hallways as try to avoid your untimely demise in the twisted museum.

Download Ib (Note: The site has an Ending Guide, but I don't recommend looking at it unless you want to spoil the endings yourself)
Slender: The Eight Pages

Release date: N/A
Developer: Parsect Productions
Version: v9.7 (beta as of writing)
Genre: 3D > First-person Survival Horror

An indie game based on The Slender Man Mythos, you play as an ordinary person who was unfortunate enough to be all alone in the woods, with only a flashlight and a camcorder, trying to recover the eight pages of Alex Krailie's notebook. There's no doubt that the game will induce paranoia and suspense as you wander the abandon and empty woods trying to find the pages of the notebook while trying to escape from Slender Man, who becomes aggressively more persistent in hunting you down as you recover more pages. Very chilling stuff.

Eversion

Release date: 2009
Developer: Zaratustra
Version: v1.7.3. (new version with original music) | v1.5.2. (old version with music from Cocoron)
Genre: 2D > Platforming > Puzzle-platforming
Content: Mild Cartoon Violence

This game is so surgery sweet that it is disturbing. You play as Zee-tee who must save Princess Nehema from the Ghulibas of the north in this retro-styled platformer. It plays sorta like Super Mario Bros. but the twist here is Zee-tee's ability to warp reality to overcome that may come in his way. Along the way, you must collect all the gems scattered through the levels to get to the super happy ending. There's also (third-party) a level-editor that for the game that let's you create your own levels. For $5 on Steam, you get the HD verison with remixed music, updated graphics, and a super special ending. Hurry, the Princess of the Flower Kingdom needs to be rescued!

Would Mega Man fan-games like Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch and Rosenkreuzstilette count in supporting Mega Man too? I mean indie devs like CutmanMike and [erka:es] are showing their love for the Blue Bomber and all...

Gaming / Darkstalkers is coming back to PSN and XBLA
« on: October 15, 2012, 05:19:14 PM »

Not sure if this was mentioned already, but Capcom is bringing Darkstalkers back from the dead with Darkstalkers Resurrection for PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade for $14.99 (thank God it's not 1,600 MS Points / $20 like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure HD ver.). Darkstalkers Resurrection will be like Marvel vs. Capcom Origins since it will include Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 in one.

A post alone doesn't do this game justice,
just watch the video

I'm almost done playing the game, and I enjoyed every single moment of it!!

The music by Jake "virt" Kaufman (Contra 4, Shantae, Mighty series, and so on), and the team behind WayForward showing some great character and background designs, this game is a love letter to everyone who enjoyed the 80s or the references from that era. If you can, please get it, it's only $10, it's on both PSN and XBLA. Relive the good times of arcade brawlers once again. ^^b

Download the Free soundtrack from Jake Kaufman's page at BandCamp.

Free OST? Don't mind if I do! 8)

Oh, and don't read/watch IGNorant's review, it has defamed WayForward's hard work more than enough already. x.x

IGNorant's review's are always butt-aching games like this, it's not like it's new or anything... I'll probably get this game maybe after the new Scott Pilgrim DLC comes out (and if I have any left over money).

All I needed to hear was Bayonetta 2. I was already going to get a Wii U anyways for the Nintendo games, but to me that turned the console from "I want this, but I can wait a little" to "OH MY GOD I NEED IT NOW ASDGAGFSDFHA".

My thoughts exactly. 8) If only the idiots at Facebook were this way, though... :\

Gaming / Re: Shantae: Risky's Revenge on Steam!
« on: September 13, 2012, 05:49:55 AM »
... so, how would Shantae: Risky's Revenge work on the computer anyway?  The Nintendo DS(i) doesn't exactly have a common resolution.  Or would it work like Jazz Jackrabbit 2 or Terraria do, in terms of "same size graphics, enormous playing field?"
From simple obsevation, I'll risk sounding like a fool and say that a DS Lite (nevered owned DSi/XL unfortunately) are probably within 4:3 aspect-ratio and resolutions, but a bigger playing field would be pretty sweet than some kind of up-scale. Though low-res PC games I've played like RayStorm, Panzer Dragoon, and Virtual-ON on my brother's 1080p 16:9 monitor, looks pretty good once I was able to get the right video card settings.

Let it be known: I'm a total virgin when it comes to Shantae and Disgaea, but after hearing how much of a gem the first game is, the more I want to play these games.

And speaking of Terraria, it's coming to XBLA and PSN later this year.

A new DLC for Scott Pilgrim VS. The World: The Game is coming August 19th Fall 2012, which adds Wallance Wells (Scott's room-mate) and ONLINE MULTIPLAYER for $5.

Now I'm regret getting RayStorm HD...

Bought RayStorm HD due to paranoia of having the game removed from XBLA like all the TMNT games (why did the 1989 Arcade game have to go?! o//////o). I'll regret not getting NiGHTS or JSR later...

EDIT: apparently the PC/Smartphone tweet meant that not all phones will be able to see the site, so it could be a 3DS sequel to the original game. In additon, Gree may be irrelevant in the long run for this news.
If it is coming to the 3DS, then I can finally decide on what new portable gaming device to get (sorry "Senko no Ronde" VITA). :3 Loved the original game on the DS and I still play it from time-to-time. Wonder where else in Japan are they going to set the game's story. Shinjuku maybe? Akihabra? ...
Osaka
?

This gives me hope that Rare will brings back a forgotten N64 classic... hopefully...

Also got Dust: An Elysian Tail, and just finished it 100% last night. Definitely worth the wait (unlike some other game I can think of), and this game should be illegal for scenery pornography. I can't focus on killing these monsters whilst distracted by luscious meadows, beautiful snowy mountains, and gorgeous caverns. :3

I got a North American, brand new copy of Layer Section (a.k.a. RayForce) for Windows 95/98 from eBay. It came with cracks on the CD case because shipping was free and they didn't bother with using decent bubble-warp to protect it (it was an envelope with pathetic bubble-warp padding, ugh). But the disc is mint-condition, and nothing like an old CD case switcharoo to replace the cracked case to fix the problem (took an old Spanish music CD case, cleaned it, and swapped cases).

I'm sure this set of pics would be pretty funny if I knew where it came from.

Looks like Gundam to me, though I will stand to be corrected.
