Weeeell you seee, Sodom and Gomorrah's reference to his guns doesn't make much sense.
well maybe a liiiittle bit, with those raining fireballs and all..

Real smooth Capcom.

The Crimson Powerhouse/[Fighting] Battle General Fefnir /CV Kazuya Nakai
To use military force to combat Iregulars and Resistance members who escaped Neo Arcadia to the wastelands, they developed the "Scorched Earth Operation" in which extermination attacks were performed. A roller strategy involved carpet bombing, and deployment of an enormous ground force for total supremacy. These severe tactics strike terror into all Irregulars who witness it. If the fighting ahead isn't ceased immediately, they will never know another peaceful night's sleep. At the forefront of the Scorched Earth Operations, a single repliroid's form can always be made out. A grotesque silhouette with a giant launcher equipped on one arm. Rarely will he equip "that" on both arms, invoking the name of the treacherous cities which were burned to ruin. When he does come out with both arms roaring, cleansing fire will rain down from the heavens, burning hostile enemies to their final breath, as in those two cities. His singular purpose in existence being to reign over destruction and the engage in the pursuit of power.  In thinking of legendary "red" opponent his own "crimson" trembles. Only in the heat of that moment does the evil dragon grind his teeth.

I don't think you can state when Serpent Company was founded. He could have easily joined Guardian even though he already was the president of a company. In fact, they could have worked together to distribute System CIEL.

Wasn't she a human?

Yes, and considering the First Commander was also a human, what's the problem? Keep in mind that the Machine Bodies given to humans can allow them to live for centuries.

Quote
Prairie, supposedly Alouette states she is some 100 years old. Ciel couldn't last for all that time, and her disappearance happened a few years before ZX.

Prairie stated she was a centuries old Repliroid. This is the same time frame as when the Hunters discovered the Ice Dart Mechaniloid. However, the Hunters' Guild was supposedly founded several centuries after the war as a direct result of Serpent's digging success in finding the Livemetals, and so that directly relates to the incident in which he claimed Model V. Thus; the First Commander disappeared centuries ago, but also centuries after the war.

Of course, how much time that is from the ZERO-series remains to be seen, as the gap is never explicitly said ingame and supposedly two hundred years. The implication is apparently that First Commander's disappearance is somewhere in the middle of this.

Hypershell, the ZC manual is just the old GBA manuals mixed together. Compare with:
http://www.themmnetwork.com/wiki/images/6/6c/Mmz1manual.txt
http://www.themmnetwork.com/wiki/images/3/3d/Mmz2manual.txt
http://www.themmnetwork.com/wiki/images/1/1d/MMZ3Manual.txt

The first manual, which you quoted is infamous for its differences to the Japanese manual:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/gba/551912-mega-man-zero/faqs/17227

Most notable differences being the length of the Maverick Wars and the location of ZERO's seal, both of which carried over into the ZERO Collection.

You need to accomplish the feat for a new form within one mission, and you can only get one form at a time.

I recall reading somewhere that the legs contain an air compression system. I assume this the gems at the foot bottom, and is how the robots jump so high, dash, as well as the source of the footstep noise. Would explain Rockman & Forte's jumping noise I suppose.

It's also how they change their momentum in mid air.

and I'm still trying to digest now that some obscure Korean game wants to bridge the Classic-X gap.

Where'd you hear that it wants to bridge the classic-X gap?

Speaking of whom, according to the Judges' profile, it was Copy X mk-1 who gathered them from their various jobs and established the 8 of them as the Neo Arcadia Inner Council, I think it's implied that he did it in order to help him convict innocent repliroids of irregularity to justify his actions during the energy crisis. It doesn't say in this bio, but I thought it said in other places that they didn't have human forms until Vile came along...

They should have had human forms already, since we saw them as Judges during TK31s trial and they were given the human form to fulfill their position as judges.

However, there's the following oddity:
X's revival marked the new arrival of the mysterious enemy Vile and his 8 subordinates, the "Vile Hachishinkan (Vile 8 Judges) - Vile Numbers", who appeared in the guise of ordinary humans and were appointed to the new advisory board the "Neo Arcadia Central Council" by Vile's suggestion.

Either this means they were promoted in Z3, or Vile was manipulating things as early as Z1.

I'm not even getting the game this week, so you guys will have to let me know. Did they include anything from the ZC site in the game's manual, or did they use the MMAC and MMXC method of copying and pasting the story from earlier manuals?

The English seems to mix and match the ones from Z1~4, including even the "remote energy mine/cave" mention from ZERO1.

Funnily enough, as clichéd as it was, Sonic Adventure 2 actually had a pretty decent story. And Shadow's death had MEANING, since that was pretty much the only thing he was made for. To protect the earth. Since he fulfilled his duty, what the hell is he still doing alive?

In Shadow the Hedgehog, the reason behind Shadow's creation and his purpose in life were explained. The ultimate lifeform based on Black Doom created by Black Doom and Gerald working together. Gerald behind Black Doom's back planning for Shadow to become the ultimate weapon against them, which can use the Eclipse Cannon to destroy the comet so that he may save the Earth and protect all humans.

Quote
New games show him working for GUN, which is the biggest pile of bullshit I've ever heard (since they, you know, KILLED the only person he cared for >_>;; )

After his "death", Shadow lost all memories of Maria and his past. Throughout his own game, he is trying to puzzle all the facts together, coming to multiple conclusions. In one scenario he meets the current GUN Commander, who seeks revenge believing it was actually Shadow that killed Maria. Even though it was actually caused by GUN trying to stop Gerald who they thought teamed up with the aliens to work against humanity. The GUN Commander's resolve to kill Shadow wavers when he learns that Shadow doesn't even remember a thing about the entire incident.

All in all, multiple versions of the same truth have caused it to be muddled for all sides, with no idea what really happened. When Gerald finally revealed his good intentions in creating Shadow, he and Maria together root for Shadow to protect humanity. With Shadow accepting that and then fulfilling his destiny in defeating the aliens, the whole world comes to see what Gerald Robotnik and Shadow are truly like. Both GUN and Shadow have changed their opinions of each other and left their pasts behind them.

It can be used to be in style as well. By using overlay carefully.

Keeping this in mind, I've redone the SplashWoman example. Also, added PlantMan.

Which is... exactly what I said. It's just that black is enforced by the graphical style, instead of the system.

Oh, no not all the palettes have to have black. The only requirement is that all of them have to have the transparency value, creating the NES' max color limit of (3*8)+1=25. (4 palettes for sprites, 4 for environment) In theory you can do anything with these 4 palettes, but the way Rockman is setup demands such things as the player having a palette solely his own, the face palette being around at all times. Similarly, almost all the sprites have a black outline in Rockman games and palettes are heavily interlinked between different objects, which is why practically all palettes have it.

Now, in theory you can also make any and all outlines using just the face palettes, but then you'd have to be overlapping two whole objects at all times. However, there's a practical limit of 8 sprites per scanline, 64 on screen, so you have to have a black for the outline in each palette to reduce the sprites on screen.

In very few cases the black value can be changed to something else. The biggest example being the mugshots, which are a combination of sprites and tiles, and thus often use and altered face palette that instead of black has an extra skintone.

Anyway, here's a visual example of boss palettes and how they relate to the player character:

Fan Games / Re: MegaMan 72

For those that want to know; the color limit for an entire NES screen is 4 palettes for sprites. In a Rockman game, they're set up as follows:

Player character (Changed by Special Weapons and shared with obtainable items):
Transperancy-Black-Shade1-Shade2

Character faces (Reused for skintone colored enemies)
Transperancy-Black-Skintone-White

Anything else:
Transperancy-Black-Color-Color
Transperancy-Black-Color-Color

A boss thus has the latter three palettes at their disposal.

Most bosses follow:
Transperancy-Black-Skintone-White
Transperancy-Black-Color-Color

Some follow:
Transperancy-Black-Color-Color.
Transperancy-Black-Color-Color

And an extraordinarily rare amount use:
Transperancy-Black-Skintone-White
Transperancy-Black-Color-Color
Transperancy-Black-Color-Color

Because the palettes on screen at once are limited, they are often shared among different objects. The colors of the boss' projectiles are taken from one of these three palettes and in turn, the projectile could determine what the player character would look like when equipping that weapon. That is, if the projectile doesn't use the face palette.

What's more important here is that there is also a technical limit of 8 sprites per scanline and 64 sprites on screen. A sprite is defined as the 8x8 or 8x16 blocks that make up a character. A scanline is a horizontal pixel wide line, not vertical. If either of these limits is breached, flickering is designed to happen. So effectively, sprites can easily be stacked up vertically, but not horizontal or overlapping.

If anybody is still confused, I can perhaps make some visual examples of how it's supposed to work. But you could also use FCEUX's debug features to see the four palettes at work while you play the games.

You know, I'm not sure if this was previously discussed in the topic, but I've started thinking recently that if Zero has his immunity, and the virus was being spread all over from Zero's capsule; it means that Zero should have felt an ever so slightly boost in strength because of the virus trying to invade his systems, lending credit to Hypershell's observation of the difference in performance between X4 and Day of Sigma.

You realize, right, that when it comes to 1 and 3s drama tracks, you'd be relying on inaccurate translations which weren't done for presentation's sake? I don't think you should stray from the game script.

There IS a large degree of overlap between real world history and Rockman world history. As is natural of all fiction that is supposed to occur on THIS Earth.
