There's actually a lot of things that can be fixed about that NES Forte sprite of yours. Mostly matters of posing and proportion; when translating between style you oversized his limbs and didn't quite handle the subtle balance of the pose.

Inafune should listen to its fans once in a while.

Bad idea. In Inafune's recent efforts to listen to the fans, he has severely pissed off a completely different bunch of fans.

Didn't Inafune even state explicitly that he'd use the LP engine? So yeah, let's do it.

They've been saying from the very beginning they designed Lost Planet with DASH3 in mind.

481
Can't we just say Capcom would use Lost Planet as a basis for DASH3 and be done with it?

Humans and Repliroids in ZX have the exact same lifespan; centuries.

And Serpent is a Repliroid; pay attention to the red triangle.

But did Roboenza drive robots mad? I just remember it making them sick.

NARRATOR: 20XX. A new robot illness, Roboenza, has begun to spread rapidly around the world, causing robots to malfunction. Many humans find it impossible to complete even simple tasks without their robot helpers, and without assistance, no one can develop a proper cure. A month following the outbreak, the situation worsens. The infection robots turn violent and attempt to take over the world!

Really? It doesn't seem like it. I mean, Roboenza makes robot's sick and ill, not mad and destructive like my egoprentice Sakura!

    At least 200 years ago
    The birth of X

When an incident occured where an unknown computer virus came from space and causes robots to become violent and riotous, Dr. Light completed the battle robot “X” worrying about the future of Earth. Hypothesizing X could battle robots infected by viruses, he gave X the perfect virus counter-measure. Meanwhile Dr. Light developed a great number of armors, but this presented the possibility of X becoming a threat to mankind. To confirm the safety of X’s cognition program, Dr. Light sealed away X in an analysis capsule.

    1XX years ago
    The Sigma Virus outbreak

A subspecies of the terrible computer virus from long ago is generated, and begins driving robots mad locally. The human leadership acknowledges these infected robots as Mavericks, and orders them to be disposed of. The source was found to be an unknown computer virus that had prevailed over 100 years ago emerging from the capsule Zero slumbered in. Later, this virus was named the Sigma Virus, after the Reploid “Sigma” who led a revolt against the human leadership.

I think the people that don't care about "story" should realize how much "story" and "setting" are intertwined. Without the setting that it has, Rockman would only be a mere shadow of itself. Rockman isn't just made by its gameplay; it is made by all of its premises.

Also, with the appreciation of a story, one should find for oneself a balance between "using one's imagination" and "sticking to the facts". We have to use both to form a proper vision of the areas of the world left deliberately out of sight.

I still want to know what Rock's actual hair color is. its either black brown or blue. games portray black and blue, and artwork often portrays brown. (with that one complete works image showing black)

Brown. Anything else is born from palette limitations.

I assumed that was a given.  RPM isn't safe without a PB-immunity shot, but I believe even that will only take so much punishment before it craps out.  And then exploded heads and loose socks will be everywhere.

I presume your PB-immunity shot is called Xtreme2, I doubt that will ever crap out.

1.-Real proof of zero's death (painful as it is for me T_T)

ZX gives the proof; Zero is Model Z. Likewise, Zero was not seen 2 years after ZERO4, nor 200 years for that matter.

Quote
2.-How ciel came up with the whole biometal thing (like, if she converted the reploids into bio metals, or just took their DNA or whatever). I know they explain a little in ZX but not the WHOLE thing.

She analyzed Model V and used the souls of legendary heroes.

Quote
3.-The whereabouts of Harpuia, Leviathan and Fefnir

Explained in MMZOCW and ZX; they died in ZERO3 and are now Model H, Model L and Model F.

Quote
4.-Real proof of X's death (T_T)

After ZERO3 X continued to exist as a Cyber Elf with very limited real world interaction; see Nakayama fanservice artwork. Eventually he became Model X.

Quote
5.-Link from MMX5-X6? to MMZero (assuming that X7 and X8 arent story related, X5 was the last "official")

Zero Collection cites X6 as the link between series, MMZOCW further elaborates on this in great detail; we know the entire situation with very little gaps in information. The matter of X7, X8 and XCM is not to be addressed by the ZERO series. It is the X-series' job to ensure its own integrity within the established mythology.

Quote
6.-And also the link between MMZero and MMZX

The link between ZERO and ZX was explained in unprecedented depth in the first ZX title. As a result, it is actually the exact opposite of a plothole.

Quote
1.-So, youre telling me that Albert find the way to interact with the after life, so he could bring weil's soul back?

Model V is the fragments of Ragnarok that contain Dr. Vile's soul, altered by Albert to create Livemetal. It is the result of Dr. Vile's fusion with the sattelite cannon.

Quote
And 200 years passed from MMZero 4 to MMZX? (i must have amnesia i better go to play again), but asuming so,

"Centuries". Mentioned to be 200 years in interview.

Quote
how come praire is ciel's sister?

Though Prairie has the red triangle of a Repliroid under the equality laws, lifespans limited Repliroids can live just as long as humans. By use of machine bodies, humans can live for centuries.

Quote
5.-I meant that according to Inafume, MMX5 is the last game in the X's series, so X6, X7, and X8 arent really story related, cause he stop working in the following games.

Inafune is by origin a "character designer", his job is not "writer" or "scenario". He only took on a scenario/writer role with X, and even then he was limited by his superior and always gladly accepted input for his colleagues; especially in his days as producer did he leave the story up to the imagination of others. Remember that Rockman is and will always be a team effort; "Capcom" is the author, not any single member of the team.

Quote
And what happened to the mother elf?

One of the true plotholes left by ZERO4.

Quote
The best example i can give you is MM9 and MM10, you CANT possibly say that those games are canon

You should know that the producer of Rockman9 and 10 is Keiji Inafune and the production crew is Inticreates, of Rockman Zero and ZX fame.

Furthermore, how much a title adds to the overall story is not at all a measure for canon, it is only a measure of importance. In that regard, even its not immediately clear from the story itself, those titles actually hold a lot of secret recognition within the plot as envisioned by Inti staff. After all, when they made Zero Collection, Rockman10 was cleverly used by Inticreates to further justify and connect the plotlines of the X and ZERO series to that of classic.

How do you even relate Universe's character style to that of Powered Up? From everything I've seen Universe is trying to convert the NES style to 3D in a 1:1 ratio.

ZX / Re: Is Ciel the first commander? And other related questions.

So until Zan responds, my pushing the matter is redundant.

But you two are doing so well on your own!

Anyway, it was my own impression when playing the game that the order to protect is one that all Guardians have to uphold, not just Giro. Though it is Giro who is given the task through Girouette Express, an organization within Guardian; it is still in Guardian's best interest to protect raid survivors at all costs. Who first received the order directly from the First Commander is another matter altogether; Prairie, Girouette, someone else? Much related is the question of timeframe; outside of the livemetal reports, Ciel should have cut all ties with the world when she learned about the importance of the raid survivors.

Quote
I keep hearing that his age is between 15-25 (assuming physical age... surely he's much older than that due to his relations with the first commander?), but where was this stated? I don't remember hearing this anywhere in the game at all. o.o; Is there an Official Complete Works for this game I don't know about or something?

The 15~25 estimate of Giro's age was given in Japanese on one of Capcom/Inti's blogs, but in a recent search neither Oakes, nor myself were able to locate it. As with Grey's age of "14" the assumption made by the fans is that a Repliroid's age refers to mental age/maturity; how long he's been physically around is uncertain. Take Prairie for example; she's mentally a teenager/young adult, but has been around for centuries. For the human characters we have no reason to doubt that the number is both physical and mental age; we've seen Vent and Aile grow, and along with Ashe the numbers fit with their being children so many years ago. We only have reason to doubt human ages after maturity is reached; see the Sage Trinity being centuries old.

Not necessarily.  I could be arguing out of my spare time.  It depends on the timeframe.  Notice that Axl hasn't yet appeared, so nothing says that the X-series timeframe we're looking at isn't the interim between Xtreme2 and X4.

Who's to say the video is actually consistent with the game itself? We already have the likes of the X3 intro for comparison. Aside from that, the game itself could span different timeframes; we've yet to see both classic and X at the same time, nor Signas and Iris at the same time.

494
This game is either the best ever for Rockman randomly throwing a Metal Blade, or the worst ever for doing so without changing color.

a solid argument as to why I should play a limited game over the SNES/PS1/PS2 X series games

Because the game is epic. But that's your loss.

I'm not convinced of that.  If you have any retranslations of X7 to share then we'd love to see them, but I'm pretty sure that even the Japanese saw X as more sappy than he really should have been in X7.  I mean, those 4Koma jokes had to come from somewhere.

The basic script is the same, but it makes a big difference in presentation; much more determined and less whiny.

Quote
This petty game of cat and mouse involves Red Alert demolishing everything in their way as they search for Axl.  The public was suffering since the highway revisit at the very beginning; X just sat on it hoping that they'd shut up and go home.

As a fan of Xtreme2, you should be well aware of X's trust in Zero. Furthermore, X is actually placing trust in Axl too, wanting him to prove himself as a Hunter and fix his own mistakes. X returning to the front lines then and there would have trampled all over that. However, X's turmoil about innocent casualties would eventually force his hand.

Quote
Recall that in X7's endgame X was dead-set against Axl becoming a Hunter.

X's usual reluctant fighting self did return at the end of X7, even if he holds strong sentiments against Axl.
But, X acting tough and wanting Axl not to repeat his mistakes, does not exclude him from eventually warming up to Axl. As it is, X is not training Axl, but rather letting Axl discover the harshness of reality by himself.

Quote
The dilemma of X disliking what he does was always there, yes, but never as big as in X7. What are these "bigger" matters that your referring to?

Earth recovery operations. Remember, Eurasia!

Quote
His stance everywhere else but X7, was that he dislikes having to retire fellow reploids, and WILL try to peace-talk given the chance,(and he has in both X5 and 6) but if there is no other way, then he WILL pull the trigger.

As recent experiments should have told X; simply being on the battlefield incites people to challenge X. Just want a part to save the world? Battle to the death first! X knows that at times his own presence worsens the situation. Why would he forcedly escalate a minor conflict such as Red Alert's? It doesn't even have Sigma written all over it, nor can be compared to the earth shattering of Eurasia and the Nightmare.

Yoshikawa's approach just feels like a large step backwards; it's mentality that I expect from the NES era, not in present day gaming.

I half agree, and half disagree. Beyond the NES games there is always the pixel representation to keep in mind when designing a game character. An example of that being the trouble Oakes and I had with Eriance's designs for New Horizon, which mirrors the issues Inti had with their own work on the ZERO-series. However, for MHX, a polygon based game; I think there's no excuse. Especially since Zero's old helmet already had various 3d representations.
